My first fic was a Draco664 fic midday duel midnight love? something akin to that, where he developed the harry/cho pairing. At the time i was interested in this asian chick on my chemistry class, so that's my reason i guess...Before HBP i barely read fanfiction, maybe 1 fic.. every 2 months.

Dumbledore's Army by Bobmin, a really well written story that has almost every cliche in it..... so of course i loved it b/c i had just read the 5th book and wanted something close to canon.

The first fanfiction I read was waaaay back in 1996 when I first got the Internet. It was a DragonBall Z story called The Saiya-jin Legend. I LOVED it.

A crossover got me into the world of Harry Potter. It was one of those Gohan-goes-to-Hogwarts ones. I was rather intrigued by the magical world and got into the Harry Potter fanfic section. After reading a few stories, I went out and bought the first four books, and the rest is history.

Am I the only one to think it's weird that I liked the fandom before the canon?

Wow, so many people reading Barb's works. I randomly wanted to reread OOTP, so I downloaded a pdf containing the first 5 books, and the fifth was barb's version for some reason.

I was like... "I don't recall reading this? But maybe JKR got better? Nah."

Then I googled it and found it.

The first fanfiction I ever read was a truly horrible one, about a girl named Rose who had a secret relationship with Snape. They were both Death Eaters and "lovin' it". It was dutch, and I read it because everyone of the forum I frequented had read it. I liked it because I didn't know better.
Now I can look back and shiver.

I think it was Wishweaver's Realizations fic, as it seems to stand out in my mind as being one of the first I decided to read after dipping my toe into the HP fandom.

I think my first fic was probably The Ghost of Godric Gryffindor, over at Mugglenet. It was'nt even Harry-centric and had some Super powerful OC called Rick who could do everything any light witch/wizard has ever done.

    I absolutely hate that now!

The first story i read was a Hermione + Fred story in Astronomy Tower. It was really soppy and angst-ridden in some parts so i just gave up.:wall:

    *laugh*

I read that one just recently, and... y'know, it's one of the FEW fics with a Gary Stu as an OC that I've been able to tolerate - and even enjoy in places. He's managed to pull off the same thing again in post-HBP form and both fics are over at Schnoogle now.

The first fic is actually a pretty self-insertish fic, I think, since I believe the author's real name is Rick. But meh. :)

    Red by rockinfaerie, on Mugglenet.

That would be one of the few decent Marauder fics out there; great style, amazing characterisation, and very interesting views on the wizarding society (purebloods and such) and on James's family. I should also mention that the James/Lily romance, although present, is very discreet and tastefully written.

Rostam, if you liked Symphony for Quartet, that one's better.

I started reading Germans fics, found Marauder fics good and started reading this in English. Soon I got bored with that kind of fics and somehow found my way to my today preferred (and also mostly in this forum found) kind of fics.

By the way: Necroposting much? :mid3

But it was on topic and did contribute, I think.

I dont really remember what the first fic I read was. It was in the Naruto section and then I found out that thier were more sections and decided to look into the Harry Potter section. Initially, I was turned away by all the freakin slash, but then I found nonjon's profile and here I am.

The first fics I read were Digimon ones, yes, don't laugh.

First Harry Potter one was one by Logical Raven on FF.net, Harry/Cho, which I was really big on at that time. It was a decent place to start I suppose.

The first fanfiction I ever read was a NC17 hentai tentacle based H/Hr fic called Harry Potter and the Nightmare Oil. Heh heh, hardcore!
Even after the better part of five years, I still quite enjoy reading it every once in a while.

My first fanfic story I read about 2 year's ago was Harry Potter and the Time Turner by R K Thompson over on Harrypotterfanfiction, a HHR fic with little in the romance but big in the action.
I loved it then and I still do now.

My first fanfiction I recall reading was a Dragon Ball Z fanfiction at mediaminer.org entitled 'Wish For The Past' back in 2002. I roamed quite a bit at that site until I found a link to Fanfiction.net through a profile. I got quite sick of all the crap all over the place till I found Lord Ravenclaw's 'Harry Potter and the Era of Hogwarts.'

I formed all of my DLP sensibilities with the first two fanfictions I read. First was The Psychic Serpent and the second was a random piece of H/D slash that the idiot author posted without a warning label over at Fiction Alley.

The conclusions I came to were:

    • Ginny is a skank and bad things should happen to her.
    • Malfoy and Snape should never be allowed to be redeemed. They should always die slowly, painfully, and with the maximum amount of humiliation and irony possible.
    • Harry is not gay.
    • Angst and fluff suck.
    • Revenge is always the best answer to abuse. If you're going to make Harry a pussy then what's the point?
