What exactly counts as shit-posting? I've seen many of the frequent and older posters do what I'd consider shit-posting many times in the past. Is there a specific type of shit-posting that is looked down upon, or is it really just whatever the people and mods find personally annoying?

 

It's just the posts that aren't meaningful/no effort at all, also depends on what type of thread it's posted in. If it's lil italy or a quest or a meme thread no one cares, but if it's wba or for review you suck for doing that. I think there's a sticky that talks about shitposting iirc.

 

I get that that's considered shit-posting, but I'm wondering how far the word extends on this forum. Shit-posting, at least as I understand it, is not always devoid of great thought and effort. And I've seen good posts in the past that didn't seem to be born of great thought or effort. Saez mentioned some sticky post, so I suppose I'll find my answers there.

 

I suppose the best advice would be don't try to find the border, redefine your perspective and think 'what makes a quality post?' rather than 'is this a shit-post?' (I'm not meaning to be facetious here). If you've got something decent to say, say it, and if not then don't.

It's much easier to not shitpost if you just make every post a quality post, and we'll all be grateful for it.

If you put thought and effort into it, it's not shit posting. I mean, just look at my recent post history and you'll see a lot of what some might call shit posting, but it's in the spirit of the community and the discussions I responded to. There's no word limit, because sometimes an image is all you need to get your point across. You won't get roused on after a single post either, because bad shit posting is a sustained behaviour.

Basically, if you're going to shitpost, be funny about it.

 

While that's true, I wonder how other posters seem to straddle the line while still staying on the safe side. Are they actually on the safe side, or are the simply being reprimanded privately? Or are they crossing the line and simply not being reprimanded for it because they don't do it frequently enough to care?

Though sticking to on-topic quality posts is the best way to keep your nose clean.

to be honest. It's rare that I find a site that takes a ceremonial thing like this seriously. I do like it though. Sort of as a way to say 'this is a very productive member of our community'.
