    ...

    You mean you don’t?!?!!?

I’ve never seen that pairing from a good author, besides paradoxed. The preference is something of a hangover from edgy teenage years.

Mom, I’m being judged on the internet again!

This is fanfiction. Everyone has personal quirks and preferences, and those who are authors show them in their work. Is it sad to like that pairing? Yes.
Am I ashamed of myself? Not all all :)

Contra goes by paradoxed on ff.net, though I was unaware they were on here. Contra’s work are the only other PJO/HOO fics besides this one that are library worthy, in my opinion.
Thank you for the suggestion, though.

Hopefully the recent update to this story signals a better schedule, though there has been admittedly no evidence in that favor.

I never gave a proper review.

I like this, there is no betrayal of the sort that usually clogs PJO fics and while some people like to endlessly complain about it being slash it's not gratuitous. Percy's adventures have been fun so far so I give it a 4/5.

At this update rate I'll be dead before any of that happens . Gave this a read and I really liked it. They're able to write Percy in a mannwr that makes him human and not just a mouth piece for the author. I have no real complaints other than pace.

Has anyone considered inviting the author to DLP?

    4/5

Because that's the kind of shit you say in jest and not in seriousness. I may be the Best Author in the Fable fandom, but the day I start thinking that gives me some superiority over other authors is the day I fucking neck myself.

Here's the chain of events broken down simply so you can understand:

    1) Somebody made a recommendation
    2) I followed that recommendation
    3) I encountered something mildly amusing
    4) I posted that amusing thing because there are others who may find it funny around here
    5) I cashed in the fake internet points from all those juicy thumbs to get a new 8k television with surround sound and VR porn

    Hope that helps.

Let's not derail this thread any further though - I was responding to the earlier rec but an extended conversation about it isn't really gonna add anything of value to a library thread for a different author.

I don't disagree, but it adds fuckall to the thread except to put down another author.

Wonder if Percy's new god-self and feelings of entrapment will compel him to tell the Olympians to fuck off. Kinda weird that they wouldn't think about the consequences for giving movement restrictions on the nascent god of exploration. Especially considering that having that new god on their side and happy would be a win condition for their pissing matches with other pantheons.

I find it interesting that apparently Gods arent tied to their pantheon and can swap, in theory.

It definitely adds a complexity to things that I wouldn't think would normally be present. I'm surprised how much I liked those aspects, usually I hate "political" machinations. I would assume political is correct here, even when dealing with gods.

I was thinking about this story and I'm not sure how much I like the jumping forwards and backwards in time when the author spends more time on telling the future and just giving us a glimpse of the past.

On one hand I like it because it shows some of his adventures and hits the high notes, and at the same time I find it lacking because it makes me want more. Probably the intent by writing it that way though.

I think that when the story is complete the skipping between the past and future will read quite well, but since the story is still in progress it can be frustrating.

It's a really well written and enjoyable story but it's got identity issues.

Half of it is a Hitchups style low stakes fun romp and the other is a high stakes, plot important and intriguing story, specially with the highly impactful hook it starts with.

Both are good but I don't think they can coexist without one overshadowing the other. Personally I found myself skimming though some of the Morocco and Italy stuff.

    This.

After the first chapter the flashbacks, while interesting, are only contributing some foreshadowing. Nothing plot critical is happening in the later flashbacks, so I’ve skipped the last few.

I think the story could benefit from wrapping that aspect up and focusing on full-length scenes that start after the five year silence.

That's something I really like myself. It's absolutely something that happens in real life mythology and within the theme of the books. The Greco-Roman gods being two sides of the same coin has some interesting connotations because it begs the question of how different a portrayal of a God has to be before it becomes its own thing; i.e. is there a Scythian or Hunnic Ares out there too. The movement of Gods and cultures is always going to be really cool - it's also possible that as a God of exploration with heavy ties to space Percy may well be outside the traditional rules*, as he's fundamentally concerned with affairs beyond Earth.

*The fact that despite being outside the Olympians zone of control he didn't have any issues using his powers backs this up, though of course it is possible that the local gods just like him and that's what makes the difference.

Overall I rate the story a 5/5. Technically good, engaging plotline and honestly it's hard for me to find something not to like.

    New Chapter

Edit: When I posted this the update had already been up for an hour so I assumed Xion had missed it. My bad, won't happen again.
