It appears Noodlehammer isn't content to keep his grubby, virginal hands to the HP and Naruto fandom, now hes got to defile one of my favorite series universe. Because sticking an already overpowered nigh Mary sue uberwizard in a low magic setting is a great recipe for a compelling story.

 

Honestly the end of this chapter was pretty badass. Nothing really happened the last couple ones but finally something interesting happened. And it was actually pretty unexpected.

 

I think it is a guilty pleasure at heart.

 

How is this horrible, horrible thing (no, I refuse to call it a story) in the Almost Recommended section?

Someone throw it in the thrash where it belongs. No redeeming features. It's basically the author living his fantasy out through the avenue of Harry. A SI if ever there was one.

Harry's an amoral sociopath. Luna only cares about sex, sexual innuendos, acting bizarre, and grandbabies.

Mrs. Zabini is a psychopath.

My standards rate 3/5. Hate the harem, like the magic, fight scenes, and world-building.

DLP standards rate 1/5 for shittiness.

A guilty pleasure, really. Turn off your brain and you might enjoy it.

 

The way i see it, there are three main plot lines in this story. Some are good, some aren't as good.

Harry's interactions with the various gods are pretty interesting. It's nice to see some actual conflict.

His apathy towards Westeros doesn't make a great story, but is realistic for someone that has lived so long and has his personality. He wants to be challenged and Westeros has nothing challenging for him. Why should he care about people dying? He's seen hundreds, if not thousands of his descendants die. Mrs Zabini does a good job of driving the interactions with Westeros and getting Harry involved (somewhat).

The harem, new bodies, etc are obviously driven by the author relating to his character. But it should have been obvious he wasn't using canon Harry from the first chapter in the first story. If you don't enjoy a self insert, you should have stopped reading a million words ago (yes, the two fics are over a million words combined now).

There are no major technical problems. The plot does move pretty slowly and some characters are a bit one dimensional. 3.5/5 rounded up because I like seeing a real morally ambiguous character, not the standard "dark" Harry you find in most fanfiction.

This Harry is morally ambiguous in the same way that Pol Pot is morally ambiguous.

This seems like an overreaction. Harry is fairly preachy and amoral but he doesn't go around torturing significant parts of Westeros and reducing the population's average age by 20 years or anything. He kills people who try to kill him...that seems pretty much it in this story. He's a mass murderer the same way kings in the middle ages were mass murderers.

Also, tyrant?

Harry is pretty much the picturebook definition of a benevolent dictator, massively improving the quality of life for his people, allowing anyone to join his pseudo-utopian society and allowing for the free flow of knowledge amongst kingdoms.

Well I mean if you're of the opinion that people can't possible change even after literal hundreds of years and watching everyone they love die then I don't know what to tell you.

The Harry in this story is a lot more detached than the fiery ball of rage he could be in the previous story, and whilst I wouldn't call him a good person, he's not Pol Pot levels of Evil either. Pretty damn amoral, but not the foaming at the mouth genocidal tyrant you seem to have a picture of in your mind from the previous story.
