Also, Dying Light 2 recently released a gameplay demo showing off the game and I have to say it looks amazing, especially the choices and consequences presented in the game. It officially looks far more intersting than Cyberpunk in my honest opinion.
Eh, from what I've seen from that Trailer it seems its going to be another boring story about the people of the forest fighting against the people with technology.

It just seems like a story that's been told too much.

Plus, the world doesn't seem that interesting. Unlike Dragon Age: Origins which had a very compelling world and story.

Anyway, gonna see what the reviewers have to say about it, but , I don't see myself playing it anytime soon.

Finished Control (bar maybe one side mission and some collectables). I found the setting more interesting than the main plot and character, and the performance issues are a pain, although mostly quickly resolved*, but all in all probably my favourite game of the year so far; it definitely has one of my favourite levels in any game ever.

*the worst bit came when an error occured during a crucial plot point, forcing me to restart the game and look the cut scene up on YouTube - however, I don't know if this was the game or my ps4 throwing a hissy fit for whatever reason, so.

As for Greedfall, very interested, will be keeping an eye on reviews

Greedfall sitting pretty at 75 on meta critic. General consensus is “Good but not great.”

I’ll prolly pick it up on sale. Seems like a solid BioWare game pr andromeda era.

After looking around a bunch this review summed up my feelings on Greedfall pretty well. Tons of customization and deep RPG systems, but lacking in a lot of other areas. That the characters and world in general seem to be as flat as they look at first glance makes me kinda sad. If they don't patch it a bunch or add some interesting DLC I'll probably pick it up in a year or two in a sale.

    Seconded.

By the way, I finally succumbed to temptation and bought Dishonored 2. Haven’t gone far, but I’m expecting to log a fair few hours this week and next.

Friend picked up Greedfall and I played about 3 hours.

So far, if this game had come out in 2012-2014, it'd be a game of the year contender. The combat is clunky and it lacks some polish that we see in modern games...but its at least as good as Dragon Age inquistion.

My rating so far is an 8/10.

Also fuck the religious faction in this game.

Finished Greedfall today. It was surprisingly decent. Certainly better than I expected. I'll give it a 7.5/10, but a very positive 7. Immersive, but boring at times.

You can feel the small budget the dev team had numerous times, and the game certainly has flaws - facial animations and teeth, lack of cutscenes, very limited assets in pretty much everything, from faces, to animations, to weapon and armor models, to crafting materials, to recycled enemies. The first quarter of the game is clearly more polished than the rest. The second half of the game reminded me more of a running simulator... there was so much just running between quest objectives that I got bored quite a few times. But the spirit is there. The world is big enough, and vivid. The lore is impressive. The combat is simple but decent enough. The story was actually pretty good. The character you play has a set personality, so you can't really roleplay, though your choices in quests certainly can have big consequences.

I see Dragon Age (Origins) and Witcher (2) thrown around in comparisons, and it does remind me of those games a bit. The third game I'd draw comparisons to would be Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Greedfall manages to be its own game, though.

A bit heavy-handed on the evils of colonialism and grey morality (everyone except most of the natives are huge assholes, and you mostly deal with the scum people and their problems with all factions).

Btw, Bridge Alliance are the biggest assholes, and guns are op.

    Yeah that's the general impression.

I think Spiders is going to have a great game one day. They are learning and creating bigger and better games with each one they release. Their "Witcher 3" shouldn't be too far off imo.

Every single thing you said about the game shows that its a very mediocre game. The fact that you had more negative things to say about it, than positive clearly makes this a 5/10.

I really don't see how its a strong 7. How can it be immersive, when " The second half of the game reminded me more of a running simulator... there was so much just running between quest objectives that I got bored quite a few times".

Do I not understand what Immersive is?

I find it weird how various people seem to be trying to give this game props that it clearly hasn't earned. Is it because the studio is small? Similar small studios have made better and more impressive games.

To me this is a shit game. Played the first hour and dropped it.

They should try to get to Witcher 1's level first. A junky game, but it had far more personality and immersive qualities, than whatever this boring slog was trying to achieve.

Despite its many flaws, it was overall a positive experience. I still enjoyed it enough to do all the quests. I could play four, five hours in a row without problems. Hence, immersive. Yet it had too much simply running between quest objectives. Hence, sometimes boring.

The flaws are easier to point out and complain about, hence talking about them more.

7/10 is an average game. This is slightly better, but not good enough to be a good game.

I actually beat Witcher 1 like ten years ago. I find it surprisingly comparative to Greedfall. Both games are a 7.5/10 from me, both good for one playthrough but not more, both had their flaws and jankiness, but the foundation is there to create something better. Certainly, I personally liked Geralt and the setting of Witcher more, though.

Your combativeness is a shit response.

I dropped witcher 1 after first hour but was enjoying the first few hours of this one. Different strokes.

The game isn't perfect (why it isn't a 10), but it's got a charm to it and it's quite well done for what it is.

In my country, we grade things from 4 to 10, throughout our entire schooling. 4 is the lowest, and a failing, grade. Therefore, 7 is perfectly average for me, and has been my entire life.

I don't think I've ever seriously entertained the notion that some people rate from actually 0 or 1 to 10, and consider 5 to be 'perfectly average' before this.

Insofar as gaming reviews go, a 5 is a "Bad Game" and 7 is average.

    Below 5 is trash.

Definitely learned something today. Wonder how that scale came about?

(Arthelion's comment about gaming reviews was what I was originally decrying as grade inflation. Trying to cram all good games into the 8-10 range leaves a lot of extra numbers on the table and makes it more difficult to compare.)

Ah apologise, I know its a shitty excuse, but I was drunk last night, that's why my tone sounded so combative.

I felt the same way but in regards to Greedfall. I played through the first area and a few more on the main island, and there was nothing about it I found interesting or compelling enough to keep playing. I guess I just wasn't charmed by what it had to offer.

Bethesda is recalling and refunding FO76 Power Armor edition helmet because inner lining carries a risk of mold.

I am almost impressed how much shit Bethesda has managed to do with this single game.

It’s not the Power Armor edition helmet, but a separate product sold by GameStop.

    Still hazardous hilarious, though.

Edit: And also, you know… actually potentially hazardous and dangerous.
