A packaging of something specific, you need to narrow it down a lot more.

It's a mask. The modern part was about how people pretend to feel another emotion, lieing basically. And the Ancient Greeks wore masks in their plays.

Zoken's has now confused me though.

    Whoever builds me, Sells me
    Create a coffin.
Whoever Buys me, gives me away
    Needs a coffin
Whover owns me, does not know that they own me
You're dead, you wouldnt know you're in a coffin

    Therefore it is a coffin.

    @Dango: Is it a recorder?

Those who have me not, do not wish for me.
Those who have me do not wish to lose me.
Those who win me have me no longer.
    What am I?

Bad luck. Nobody wants it, those who do have it want to get rid of it and those who win don't have it... Bad luck.

What is broken every time it's spoken?

What English word retains the same pronunciation, even after you take away four of its five letters?

John is on a raft, adrift in the ocean with several other survivors of a shipwreck. The others are too weak, so he or Mike will swim to a nearby island to look for help. It is almost certainly suicidal, due to the circling sharks, but they have little else to hope for. Mike takes the lose change from his pocket and puts two pennies in a hat. He tells John that one is a 2005 penny, and the other 1975. If John picks the newer penny he can stay on the raft, and Mike will risk his life. If John picks the older penny, he must go. John has seen that both pennies were actually dated 1975, but he doesn't want to say anything, because Mike is a big guy. How does he win, and get Mike to go, without exposing him as a fraud in front of the others?

Aekiel: Wrong. You did not read it closely.

Those who have me not, do not wish for me.
Those who have me do not wish to lose me.
Those who win me have me no longer.
    What am I?

    Edit: 1. is silence

MrIBN, I know the answer to the second riddle. he reaches in, takes his penny, then, before opening his hand, demands that mike take his penny and reveal it to the others. he keeps his hidden and Mike reveals he has the older one, which means that if Mike had been honest (as the others must expect) they have to assume that John has the newer penny.

Pick a penny from the hat and "accidentally" drop it into the ocean before anybody sees it. Mike has no other option but to reveal the other penny which is also 1975. The others would then conclude that the penny that fell was the 2005. And then Mike becomes shark bait.

The word that retains its pronunciation is Queue. Take away ueue and you get Q.

Is it a race? Or a fight to the death?

    Edit:
It is often spoken of, but always after it's gone.
As long as it grows, your life shrinks.
It is ever changing, but can never be changed.

Urgh, I've been neglecting this thread. To make things a little clearer, here are all the riddles that have not yet been confirmed as correct:
