Can I just say newb vibes and leave it as that? I haven't seen like a townderp or anything, and I have this prick in the back of my head that he may have scumderped when talking about no lynching to get more information.

I do think he's been townie and but just like regular towniness. And more so today than yesterday. I agree with whoever had said that this doesn't feel like day 2 play of a new player who lost his bro. He's holding himself well and making a lot more thought processes than I honestly expected for a someone's first game. I thought most of his "flubbling around" or whatever Sloth/tom was talking about from his early game was rather null and didn't have a solid bead on it. I remember telling myself sometime during day 1 to read him over toDay and only dome him if I felt heavily he was scummier than everyone else.

Fwiw I'm leaning towards voting Jarizok right now but I feel really uncomfortable about it.

@Jarizok would you mind doing some self meta for me on how you think your play differs as town and scum?

Tammy / tom / Mendel never partners with Sloth and all likely town. TerRaine not with Sloth and lightly feeling she's town but someone to pay attention to for team two.

Nailed it. Have a good sleep :D

Can people point me to Cerber's "innocent newb town" posts?

Like, his content is the stuff that I find actually good rather than his newbness.

My notes on ruling out possible Sloth partners.

    CerberAsta: nothing
    Cobalt: town
Empoof: unlikely, had other wagon options
his fluff: unlikely, counterwagon and voting Sloth
    Jarizok: nothing
Keledo: unlikely, soft-hammer vote and specifically mentioned liking Sloth's content
    Sloth: lol
Mendel: ripped Sloth a new asshole
    Tammy: very likely town
TerRaine: Sloth and Ter are very unlikely to bus each other
tom: doesn't really bus Day 1, among other reasons

What about him being a counter wagon makes him unlikely?

Mmmm jarizok s post to Mendel that I pointed out yesterday makes sense if he was trying to redirect Mendel’s attention from sloth to keldeo in a Jari/sloth world. Need to check the timeline, might not make sense actually.

Unless Sloth's partner is Keldeo, they're probably on fluff.
    --- Post automerged ---
    Keledo? Keldeo?

    I like Keledo better. :v
    --- Post automerged ---
Also doubt Sloth self-pres's onto his Watcher, even if the odds of fluff getting lunched there are small.
    --- Post automerged ---
This kind of jumped out at me as being newbtowny.
    --- Post automerged ---
This is literally his first forum game, yeah?

Good news is that once you've played multiball, regular games are not as annoying.
    --- Post automerged ---
    lol I hate this.

    I'm so conflicted help.

"You have a scumread on me? Prove it by solving the game right now, in post #107."

    I just.

Like that is TerRaine calling fluff a villager, right? She straight-up assumed fluff is/was a villager there. In a game where scum don't know all the scum.

He parked his vote on the easiest to justify slot in the game. The other people voting me are townier.
    --- Post automerged ---
    Yeah hang on a sec.

    Unvote, vote TerRaine

@obs how many of tom/Jarizok/Ter are scum for postgame cred?

I have no idea. I wasn't expecting to even scumread Ter.

I have to wonder about the implications of TMI'ing in a game where scum aren't completely informed. I don't even know if it makes sense.

Don’t think it’s TMI cuz it couldn’t be. Think if ter’s town its tying to get fluff to prove he’s thinking about the game, and if ter’s scum it’s a way to dog him into uncertainty and make him back off. Could go either way who knows. Struck me as off but I wouldn’t be sitting at conundrum table if it didn’t.

I mean it's totally something villagers do all the time.

"Oh you think I'm scum? Who are my partners then?"

But asking for the identity of the other team in addition is just weird, because 1) it's completely irrelevant and only serves to rig the question against fluff, if anything (the obvious takeaway being "if you can't answer the question, then the scumread doesn't hold up," which is emphasized by Ter's reponse to fluff explaining his scumread being "neat but not what I asked"), and 2) how does she know fluff isn't on the other scumteam?

I don't even know if I'd call this a slip. It's Weird Coming From A Villager.
    --- Post automerged ---
I can 100% see a villager in Ter's spot asking "who are my partners then?" But the addition of the second scumteam just...reeks of trying to undermine the whole read.
    --- Post automerged ---
Guess the main feeling I get is that, in this specific interaction, Ter cares more about dismantling fluff's read than his actual alignment. And that is a scum move.
    --- Post automerged ---
On that note, I really need to sleep. I have a long day tomorrow (and the next day, whee).

I'll pop in whenever I can, tomorrow's gonna be rainy so work should be slow and boring and perfect for mafia.

The nice thing about this forum is that I get to collect quotes as I read through the thread, and then get to unpack them when I'm done reading. Let's see what I got this time!

The only town role we have is the watcher. If the watcher sees any night action at all, they have found a mafia. Therefore, scum must avoid acting where the watcher could see it. Now, on night 1, the nightkills could only be on other mafia. Therefore, the town watcher would have targetted potential mafia players. (I wouldn't normally speculate on town power role targets in the thread, but since the other nights are going to be different, I feel it's ok this time.) I'm sure Sloth was aware of that, as he had designed the setup.
So, if you want to nightkill someone and don't get watched while doing it, you have to nightkill someone who is not scum-read. Since Sloth came in with quite a bit of authority, he could have townread the player he wanted to kill to throw the watcher off the scent. Since Sloth was playing his cards close to his chest, we would not have seen his progression onto his actual other-team-scum read.

tl;dr if you want to shoot a mafia on night 1, make sure the watcher thinks it's not a mafia.

Let's now assume (!) that Sloth's partner shared Sloth's reads, and tried to shoot Sloth's townread scum read on night 1, i.e. Cerber, me, or Tom. IF they did that, they failed to hit scum, because otherwise the target would have died, and that clears whomever Sloth secretly scumread.

It's a fairly useless line of thought as long as we don't know that that's what happened, or who of us three would have been targetted. I've been putting it out there because a) I like ticking off all possibilities, and b) maybe somebody else noticed something that supports the assumptions that went into this.

    @CerberAsta I have questions:
    a) why aren't you sheeping Tammy?
    b) How are you sheeping me? I don't think I have clear reads myself at this time, and you no longer scumread Cobalt/Vimes, whom I am still voting.

I remember noting this on day 1 and getting pushback from someone, which may have been gaslighting. I'll need to look that up. Your support would've been appreciated in that situation!

That's a lot of certainty for one game page read. Keldeo flip-flopped quite a bit on Sloth near EoD, if I recall correctly. He could have ended up on fluff with his progression, but then the fluff wagon would still have been one vote short, and Keldeo would've looked terrible. I'm not attaching all that much credit to the soft-hammer, but I'd be interested in what you think of his actual progression on Sloth.

I was going to comment on that, but I'd actually like to see
    @TerRaine explain it first.

Maybe the slot is easy to justify because it is the scum slot? ;)

    Control

Here's the bit about Sloth directing the conversation. I Ctrl-F for "control" on posts 100-300.

    So, I note:
    * Sloth is gaslighting me.
    * Tom is supporting him, sort of?
    * CerberAsta is absent.
    * Cobalt produces their ONLY day 1read off this specific paragraph.

I wish I knew what that means for Cobalt's alignment. Like, level 1, Cobalt supports me (but forgets about Sloth subsequently); and level 2 WIFOM he got a scum chat message, "townread this guy, we're going to have to kill him tonight". Could someone help me out here?
    --- Post automerged ---
Actually, this was Cobalt's other read, which is more like "there's a 50% chance that Jarizok is scum".
    --- Post automerged ---
@TerRaine What is the status on your suspicion of Tom that you opened the day with? You're not pushing people to vote him any more.
