Its still my strongest read but i am in no way comfortable with it being the only wagon all day.
Like, im largely basing that off how towngemma would want to use fonti as a foothold and frankly marriages are more complicated than that.
I think fontis read about gemma trying to hurt her is just... not gemmas intention and im not comfortable sheeping fonti either.

Everything ive said about the slot more or less stands.
    But
Im falling back towards gut a little
    Vote umami

I appreciate the elaboration, and I get that perspective, but my anecdotal evidence points towards statements like that being mostly NAI depending on the person.

Lol tom, that was in large part a response to your *sharpens knives* comment, so I’m glad you responded. But yeah I generally say lots of words, can’t help it.

Also, what is Carson Daly syndrome?
    --- Post automerged ---
I'm not really sure what to make of either Miner or Osi's catch-up posts.

Osi is forcing opinions, likely because he thinks its funny or will elicit some reaction, especially from me and/or grape because mtgs. I assume wed both rather just wait and see.

Miner is forcing content, likely because hes a wolf with no real opinions.

Well that's honestly just ignorant of the way I play as scum I guess.

I'm forcing content because I replaced into an apparently doomed slot with less than 24 hours to actually play the game. I'm not really sure what else you want, but you've never actually managed to read me tom.
    --- Post automerged ---
It'd be so much easier to just shut up and not say much at all if I were actually scum since I'm a replacement and deadline wasn't extended, like IDK what you're trying to say ???

Im trying to say youre going through motions of catching up and its pretty lame and no one cares. If you are town, and want anyone to see that, youd have to like
    Be towny or something.

Is your plan just to get lynched and leave no impact?

    @Keldeo

    In response to Gemma/Miner:
I'm also a bit nervous about the consensus around Miner, which is partly why I wanted to talk elsewhere, but my timing on everything has been off due to my late entrance and I don't think anyone saw what I did in Cuth, which I also feel much less confident in now. Back to the point, I hate WIFOM and I have a hard time reading into thread environment giving the possibility that you gave regarding bussing. That said, I agree it is possible that at some pivotal point the scum team decided that slot was not worth saving. It is hard to tell when that inflection point would have been, but I would guess it was during the fonti/Gemma showdown. And that's a good point you raise about Umami... one would think though that if that was true that maybe there would have been a more concerted effort, right? Like what was the other teammate doing?

In response to your question about me forcing my reads:
Oh, okay, I understand what you mean now. The answer is: it's complicated, and perhaps I left you with the wrong impression, and now I'm going to talk about this for way too long, so I'm going to spoiler this.

And it has to do in large part with the history of my mafia career. When I started playing in 2010, I was much more uncertain when I approached the game and my reads specifically. To some extent that has not completely gone away because still now depending on certain factors (more likely if the thread is relatively more inactive than this one and/or I am unfamiliar completely with everyone, I have limited time to read and engage, etc.), my level of confidence in these circumstances better reflected yours. In reality I do have a back and forth with my gut and my brain, where my brain is pretty cautious and is questioning even you as my highest townread, but anecdotally I found that when I approached Day 1 too cautiously and refused to listen to my gut regardless of whether I thought it was fully rational there were too many instances where I did not think it helped town a great deal. On my homesite especially in its early stages I was often one of the few players taking Day 1 remotely seriously, and as a result I was leading town every game with high uncertainty and analysis paralysis coupled with relatively low engagement from other players, and it did not lead to many good results. I naturally tried listening to my gut more exclusively and those were also disasters. So I consciously adapted my playstyle to be a more level tug and pull between my brain and my gut, to be absolutely transparent regardless of the level of quality I thought my own reads had, but also be open to constant re-assessment. Especially in Day 1 or cases of high uncertainty, I decided it made more sense to make reads without becoming paralyzed by indecision, because I can always (and naturally often anyway) re-evaluate.

TL;DR: My level of confidence is heavily inflated by the fact that it's Day 1 and that I found myself in the town leader position in many of my homesite's early games without a ton of supporting cast (a dynamic which changed but left a large impression on the development of my game), and given the assumption that I will inevitably throw my reads in the garbage and re-assess at some point whenever I feel I need to, which typically happens often.

In response to the Umami thoughts:
I like your breakdown here. I agree with you. I would say... I lean 60-65% towards the town explanation and 35-40% towards the scum explanation.

Well, Miner is understandably in a tough position regardless of alignment, but I sense no urgency or fire to his catch-up at all, and I am torn as to what that means.

And a good portion of Osi’s reads were uninspiring and/or I didn’t feel understand them, so I’m going to have to interact with them I think.

It is possible that my brain just didn’t absorb it all properly, but I was anxiously awaiting thoughts from both of them but left reading them thinking not much.
    --- Post automerged ---
Oh, and Cuth’s posts! They were good, I liked them. Tonally I think he overreacted to pressure considering he only had my vote and no one else’s, but I can’t make heads or tails of that in an alignment indicative way. The content itself felt like it was inspired by a townie who had a fire lit under their ass, so I’m inclined to move him up.
    --- Post automerged ---
Hey Miner! Maybe it would be better spent if you interacted with players in real time or ISOd a player in particular instead of catching up in full. If you are town, we need to see it, and we need to know your thoughts on the game in a holistic sense, and a different approach might better elucidate that.

Do you think my lack of urgency is a scumtell?

Oh that is good to know about Osi, thank you.

I mean, that’s my default interpretation of Miner as well but I want to try to explore the other reality thoroughly enough with his cooperation if possible.
    --- Post automerged ---
Lol, yeah, the latter. I meant like if 100% is 100 parallel universes of this game, then I think at this moment that Umami is town in approximately 60-65 of them, which makes for a decent town read.
    --- Post automerged ---
I’m not sure. It could be, since it often is, but I don’t believe in universal scumtells and I think I could envision a universe where you see your position and feel like you’re doomed instead of lit by fire.

Since I already suspected your slot pretty much more than everyone else especially now that I have moved Cuth up, that’s the assumption, but I don’t want to roll with that.

What do you think would be the most productive use of your time right now to convince me and others that you’re town regardless of Gemma’s actions?

Good afternoon. I apologize, but I've been unexpectedly busy so far today and this will unfortunately continue for a while. I'll try to check in when I can and should absolutely be around for EOD if nothing else.

I think the most productive way for me to convince you I'm town is to flip town and then have whatever I said earlier in the Day to work with tomorrow, whether or not they're right or not.

Hence why I'm just voicing whatever comes to mind when I was reading through the first ten pages of the game. You'll also notice that I refer to fonti, GH, and Gemma as separate players; this is intentional because I have no idea what Gemma's tried to do, and I'm just going to play like D1 just started, albeit without the RVS and memes.

But honestly joining a game where you get wagoned for something out of your control is really motivation-sapping.

I'd just ask you to look at fire and Grape. I don't know Grape so I can't really argue meta-wise, but I've disagreed with a lot of what they've done in the thread. I've been wrong about people that I've never played with before, so I'll leave it up to your best judgement.

Re: fire, I just don't think that the way he entered into the game and then progressed adds up. There's a disconnect between the new player persona he's putting up and the way he's played. He's also the one whose case on me felt the least legitimate.

It's a low-content Day 1, despite the presence of the vast majority of players. Your mileage may vary, but that usually means to me that some mafia members are coasting and others are trying to control the thread.

Miner, in what ways do the other cases on you/your slot feel more legitimate than fire’s?
