Lots of good times. The ones that stand out?

At least one discussion thread dissolving into a half-horrifying, half fascinating dive into the world of dolphin porn.

I loved it anytime someone asked @Perspicacity a science question.

The in depth discussion threads where anything and everything under the sun could be touched on by some awesomely smart people. Seriously, I learn something new just about every time I log in here.

For me, DLP was where I learned to have standards. I shudder to think of some of the garbage I was reading before I found this place. It's been an awesome run so far. A thousand 'thank yous' to the ones who started this all. There's a reason this was the first forum I went back to when I got out, so keep being awesome you guys!

    Edit:
Not gonna lie, I read that as "Xipho tried to kill himself" and was like "Wha-? When was this?" Then I read it again and lol'd.

Only been around for like -almost 4 years? Shit that's longer then I thought. I remember lurking a year before I made an account, I remember lurking a short while on irc, I remember jumping straight first into the discord switch, I post a lot more on DLP then I thought I would when I first joined. All of you on dlp are chill, cool people and I can't say how much I appreciate that. I don't really stick around on things a lot but I know I'll still be around for a long while and I can't say I thought that when I first joined.

So yeah, the anonymous day was awesome, that time where everyone tuned into play skribbl every night for a few days was cool, that day dlp irc switched to discord I stayed up all night trolling and enjoying it, but yeah I'd say its the people that are my favourite thing about DLP.

Wait a second... this is a Harry Potter forum?
Son of a bitch, no wonder I've found so few sculpting tips here.

Congrats on the anniversary, I guess, but how am I supposed to recoup my investment reselling a pottery wheel in a necessity-focused economy?

This hasn't been a Harry Potter forum in eight years.

I think it's true that DLP changed over the years as edgy teens grew up to become snarky adults. There's definitely a chiller vibe now compared to even a decade ago, let alone in the super early days.

In other news, bring back the nyan cat front page.

I think I came on roughly around the time of :hbp (scratch that, Deathly Hallows) and it's been an absolute ride ever since. God bless you wankers.

I first found DLP when I was twelve years old. I thought I was hot shit, and decided to post a story I had written about Harry Potter being unloved by his family and going to Rome for school (something along those lines. I was really into wbwl at the time). I thought people were going to love it.

I was ripped to shreds. It was so bad, the consensus was that I was a troll account trying to make the worst possible story to piss people off. That definitely stung lol.

So I left DLP for awhile, made a different account when I came back to wipe away the shame of my last one- and I’ve been here ever since. I’m now twenty two, and its wild that DLP is still a regular part of my day even if I mostly just lurk now. I think DLP has shaped a lot of my sensibilities and taste, and I think me getting completely shat on all those years ago really helped get rid of any ego I had.

Here’s to fifteen more years of DLP being a wretched hive of scum and villainy.

DLP is love. DLP is life.

No, for real, it means something when you can say you've been part of a community for this long. They say that after seven years, every cell in your body has been replaced. If that's true, then I've never not been a member of this site. And the me that I was before those seven years also hadn't not been a member of DLP. That's fucking crazy.

I spend most of my time here in the Funny Pictures thread, so I guess that's my favorite thing here, but the people are the most important part. I'm not a social person, so I'm not the most active person around here, but I read the posts. I'm glad I've been part of this community for 14 years.

    Here's to another 15 years.

I grew up here, and all of the friends and people I've interacted with on this forum have helped me to become an adult.

There are way too many moments and threads that stand out in memory.

@Warlocke's reviews are always fantastic, but the series of them on Nuhuh's The Stalking Blood Sack were just great. I actually started looking forward to the reviews more than the story.

Seeing @Zenzao become such a prolific writer, working hard and becoming the champion of the 500 club. I've been constantly impressed.

The stupid forum games we all used to play. Shout out to Billy vs. Snakeman and the frenzy that overtook the forum for a little bit about it. Turns out the game's still around. Met a DLPer on Twitch when we saw each other in chat and we had a bit of a conversation about it, and looked it up.

There's so much more, of course, but I could spend hours on it if I'm not careful.
    ---

DLP has been here through every major event of my life. This is actually just a family to me, and I am always thankful for having met you all. Most of you.

I might have only recently started to become a bit more active here(more so on Discord) but so far I've very much been enjoying the forum and looking forward to the future.

Always been a lurker here, for over half of my life. When the forum was new, it was a place to take out my teenage angst and fantasies by hating and loving on some fictional characters. DLP is sure to have had a hand in how twisted my sense of humour has ended up being and I wouldn't have it any other way! Thanks for always being here.

"The path of the righteous forum is beset on all sides by the inequities of the weebish and the tyranny of wrong boys-who-lived. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the fanfiction. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my forum. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay The Office upon you."

There's a lot I could say, in terms of this or that, specific wonderful people and wonderful memories as a product of the decade on this forum that I've enjoyed, but all of the above have said it more eloquently than I could. I share their feelings, completely.

However, never have I ever felt more a part of this community, than during the religious fervour that swept through us all in that fateful summer by the shore. The zeal that subsumed me, the religious paroxysms, that demanded sacrifice of all non-tribe members on the altar.

I think, that's what a community is all about, at the end of the day.

    Praise Fishthulu (and @Palindrome).

DLP is family. DLP iIRC witnessed me forgetting my wedding, the birth of my first child and many long nights prior to that of just idling and chilling.

There was Potter Law, Bio's rating scale of tolerable fanfiction, and being the court fucking jester, Potter place 3, and various raids. The time Narf trolled a whole website with his Harry/Ginny masterpiece. The time Coyote died, watching people grow up and go off with their own lives. Many who have returned and some who have not.

It's been a wild ride. I don't know what my life would have been like without DLP, but I appreciate everyone I've met along the way.

Also if this post gets 100 thumbs, I will ban Arthellion.

15 years...bloody hell. I remember finding the site via Middy's (?) Dark Lord Potter fic, maybe around May/June 2005. And then just using the fic library for a few months before signing up and joining in the banter.

Some favourite memories? Hmmm, definitely the Germany meet up with Taure, Aekiel, Oz, Sesc, World, Andrela, and...I think I'm forgetting someone!

When DLP joined online games as a community, it was always fantastic. I never really got into cybernations, but the time on Project Terra with @Tenages was absolute tops. I don't think I've ever written such absolute bollocks as those announcements we used for SK!

Craziest thing from DLP is probably that I met Dwitty on here, then 3 years later we ended up going to the same uni at the same time, and then ended up as flatmates for 2 years. Those were some seriously crazy times.

@TMD talking me through everything after my dad ended up in hospital, helping me to understand what was happening. You were an absolute god send.

So many weird and wonderful times on here or because of here.

You all are wonderful, terrible, amazing people. I might argue with you, some of you excessively. But I'm still here because I like and (mostly) respect you all. Here's to another 15 years!

    *cracks knuckles*

    J'accuse, DLP. J'ACCUSE!

You (general you, you disgusting collection of scum and wretchedness) have ruined all other forums for me. Any other website that has a community wont to discuss a variety of subjects is inevitably plagued by some safe space rules where telling someone "fuck you" will get your ass banned, and other sites that don't have such silly strict conduct rules don't purge and/or educate idiots like DLP does. I curse thee for raising my expectations.

I've been here for about half of DLP's time and in those 7 years I have forged an unassailable reputation. I sit atop a mountain of frozen peaches, rotting vegetables, potatoes, logs of times @Zombie has called me some variant of degenerate, abandoned WBA threads, memes only 3 people on the site find funny (what's up @awinarock), all of it precariously balanced on a heap of opinions that mostly leave @DR and @Mordecai frustrated.

I can't think of another forum that would take all this in stride instead of banning me sometime in 2018.

I've also finished a 250k fanfic. I'm more fluent in English. I know more about the American political system than the Polish one, which is arguably something to be embarrassed about. I beat @Zenzao in a meaningless 2-year-long postwhoring contest which started as a joke played upon @Taure.

In conclusion, I would like to say a few more things:

    Zombie is a bully

    veggies/fruit are disgusting

@DR and I agreeing on something probably caused the corona pandemic

furthermore, I consider that @Arthellion must be destroyed, but I'll settle for banning him

You're a decent bunch, DLP. Carry on.

    I just... I can't even....

    :nyan:

    There; that's better.

I don't hold onto favorite memories for long. I simply remember my time here (12+ yrs.) fondly. What more can I ask for than that? What I do hold onto (en masse, not individually) are the times that I encounter people outside DLP, and they complain about how evil we are, which still goes on to this day. They really don't know.

DLP is a path to behaviors some would consider... rude.

Meanwhile, we know they're all just weak.

Well....DLP has meant a lot to me in the few years I've been on here. You guys are all lovable assholes and it has been so vital for my growth as a person. The knowledge and perspective I've gained from DLP has really shaped my views on many things...for which I am grateful.

The discussions in politics with @DR and others has definitely revealed to me so many of the fallacies I grew up with andhow to critically analyze and examine them. I appreciate the high standard that has been required and cultivated.

It's been fun developing great memories on this site and reading awesome works by awesome people. I've enjoyed the memories and fun the D&DLP group has been having. @ChaosGuy @Fenraellis @Antivash @Innomine @Nazgus Thank you all for putting up with a newbie DM.

@ScottPress My mother's side has polish heritage. Thank you for providing a contrast showing how far my family has come since those dark times :p

Anyways, here's to another 15 years and....

Getting to read Harry Potter and the Boy Who Lived.

More seriously, finding a community that enjoys reading mostly terrible stories and bitching about them as much as I do was pretty great, and it's been really interesting to see all the weird shit people came up with over the years.
