I've used the Corsair gaming K70 mech keyboard for years now and am totally happy with it. Cherry MX Reds which, I'm told, are a lot less 'clacky' than Blues.

Corsair K70, RED LED and Cherry MX Red's. It was my first mechanical keyboard, and I love it.

I have enough desk space I've never felt the need to get rid of the numpad, but seeing some of the other keyboards floating around now makes me wonder if they're worth it.

I've got an Archiss keyboard (without a numpad) with Cherry MX Blue switches. Archiss is a Japanese brand - not sure you get it outside at all.

I think it's just how I learnt to type, but I'm way more comfortable inputting strings of numbers with the numpad than I am with the number bar.

I'd also feel weird without that return key too.

I remember thinking about getting the sidekey version but then ending up sticking with the normal one. I spent a lot of time picking that keyboard haha.

I was quite relieved to find something that wasn't a flashy LED nightmare

Yup, that was a big part of my choice as well. I hate all the garish LEDs and stuff most comps have on them. Simple minimalist for me please.

Logitech pro, bare-bones keyboard I bought years ago from a JB Hifi on a weekend when my other keyboard crapped itself. I've grown to love it and definitely enjoy the extra space not having a numpad provides. Keyboards for me have always been meh, I'm more a mouse/headset man I would be happy using a Microsoft keyboard if I had too.

Got it because it was the cheapest 108-key keyboard with MX Browns.

So, I'm gearing up to buy a Barebones GMMK keyboard.

I'm going to be using Boxjade switches

    and pudding caps.

Which when combined should look like...

and sound like a cannon going off with every click.

And if I can I'm going to be making one of these myself:

    I fucking hate mechanical keyboards.

They're fun to type on, I've had one or two in my life, but in the beforetimes one of my colleagues had one not 5 feet away from me and I wanted to murder him. Death to mechanical keyboards in the office.

These days I mostly type on my macbook and while I sure don't love the butterfly keys they ain't actually that bad.

I’ve never had a single issue with my butterfly keys. Keep hearing about others issues though. I’m curious, what’s your problems with them?

I use an Acer SK-9625. It came with the desktop my dad bought over 10 years ago and I claimed it because I didn't have a keyboard when I built my current pc to replace a laptop.

I like the volume wheel, it makes music go brrr or BRRRR.

Is there such a thing as a silent/quiet mechanical keyboard? I like the tactile feedback but I could do without the noise drowning out everything else I do.

Using linear switches and adding O-rings would probably be your best bet for quietness. They don't have any tactile feedback, though, so you would probably want some sort of tactile switch that doesn't click such as MX Brown/Clear/Light Grey or Orange/Black Alps and add O-rings to dampen the sound of the keycap bottoming out.

Users break them all the time.

I mean I don’t care, I’m not the one fixing them, but we have a few hundred Mac users and our help desk guys usually get multiple keyboard issues from them every week.

mostly resolved by compressed air and an exacto-knife but come on.

Oh, yeah, I knew about the systemic issues. I thought you meant that you had issues with the quality of typing on the keyboard.

New MBP apparently goes back to the old good style of keyboard.
