This is like all my town reads (Gemma/Vaimes/Rubicon and to a lesser degree Fontisian) other than Sloth on Cuth. And Toms there.

Jari's been sussing Cobalt for ~not being villagery enough~ basically as long as he's been in the game. He made this post:

fairly shortly after subbing in, which would be fine if the promised detectiving ever materlized... but it really hasn't. His return to the thread last night was basically "yo, Cobalt's still a wolf, imma ISO him to see if he needs casing" and then surprise surprise, he cases him.

I think the above quoted post specifically is designed to leave Jari a way out in case Cobalt starts to look villagery and he needs to look elsewhere, but once Jari started getting heat he realized that he needed a solid case and went with what he probably perceived as the lowest hanging fruit of the pile (honestly somewhat surprised it wasn't me, but I suppose I had been somewhat trending up in the eyes of the consensus around that time).

Combined with the fact that TerRaine was cagey and weird, combined with the fact that nothing Jari's posted on Cobalt has been anywhere near unfakeable... yeah, I think this is a wolf.

As an aside I've really liked Cobalt's posting today. Think he noted the same thing about Jari's push on him that I did, and generally like the fire being displayed. I'll revisit Reg's Cuth walls, cause they're a lot of words and I kinda skimmed them; I thought his entrance felt really good but that's probably a read that needs a lot of refreshing, and last night's Cuth was... weird.

 

Also Reg is there any way you can kinda explain Rubicon town to me? I obviously have literally 0 meta but I'm not seeing it.

Also, that Jari case is super level one, and both Reg and I are telling that Jari does this as town, so I don't see how you could think that Cobalt noticing Jari's push isn't great is somehow some sort of towntell for Cobalt?

None of this is something that I can't see coming from Town!Jarizok, he just loves casing his scum reads and trying to get people to see what he's thinking thay way. It's definitely something I've seen him replicate as scum, but yeah the "he's still a wolf let me look and case him" "cases him" isn't a scum tell. The only point I'd maybe get is the delay in him actually voting Cobalt / getting around to explaining that read and timing of it, but given he's the last person to replace in I think I give him a little bit of leniency when it comes to getting things done. He can be scum here, he's a weak town read, but I don't think his case and stuff with Cobalt makes him scum.

 

Thanks for this. I agree with some of what you said about how Cobalt has been treating fonti, I haven't really wanted to put my thoughts into thread about it but I think town!Cobalt is mayyybe more likely to just disregard my read on fonti and continue to push on her? But I'm also aware that Cobalt is trying to be more mindful of other people this game, so I wouldn't take it as far as I might otherwise. I don't think it's hugely scum indicative on its own, more just something to keep in mind to compare to other patterns in his posting over time.

He is definitely treating you differently to the way he is treating Regfan, but I'm not sure how I would relate that to his alignment because I think that difference would probably be there if he's town. It's understandable that you would find that wolfy of him, I think it might just be more an oog opinion of player thing?

I personally don't find static reads to be too fruitful in getting an alignment read on people in general so that line of argumentation doesn't do much for me.

I have some thoughts of my own on Cobalt but I'd rather get caught up before I think about how much I want to get into that.

I'll explain more in the meantime. I feel like literally everyone knows that Jari's push has been super one dimensional and pretty lazy, and the actual case itself was mostly bullshit. This is all entirely normal for Jari, and it's why he's a common misyeet. I've explain part of this to you. But you just came in and presented that depiction of his play as if it's a slam dunk case against him (somewhat understandable, I've been there) and as if no one else realized it? Which, like, we all know the case wasn't great and that Jari hasn't done much, you're not telling us anything new. And your claim that Cobalt is somehow town for noticing that is ??????. And you're not actually looking at the strong points in Jari's case, and there are strong points, I've talked about them. So it feels like you're just ignoring those points because they work against your agenda, which was to defend Cobalt.

Am getting more and more confident that Fonti is town here. Her process, and reads and everything is making a lot of sense today, and she's mindmelding with me about a lot of thoughts. I like her interactions with Cobalt & the current one with Amy. She's thinking about things on a deeper level.
