I personally agree completely with void (besides the man-famly part). What a scary point in Harry Potter fanfiction we are coming to. Rowling only has so many things she can do with the story and if the best she could come up with was a bloody muggle Harry then I'm sorry but she's lost her touch. Hell, she lost it when she wrote HPB and stuck Harry with the love potion whore! My respect for fanfiction has dropped completely with the amazing increase in slash stories. I'm male, personally a homosexual, and find nothing interesting about a smut story with Harry taking it in the tail pipe. Give me the Whore over that!

 

Really speaking, there isn't a much better way to end the series. If Harry has to kill Voldemort in his seventh year, it's very likely he's going to have to make a rather large sacrifice. Also, with the way every story so far has gone, Harry won't have a clue what's happening, then suddenly Voldemort dies and Harry finds himself powerless.
From Rowling's point of view, it would be the perfect end to the series if she does not wish to write more books. If Harry still has power, then everyone will want a sequel to see what he does not that he's not hounded by Voldemort. Every good story like this ends with the heroes leaving for another place, or dying or fading into obscurity to leave "happily ever after". Something that is simply not possible with a magical Harry after he kills Voldemort. If he becomes a squib, he can ease out of the lime lite and live "happily ever after".
That said, the quote is most likely fictitious, as if it were true, every major paper the world over would be publishing it. Also, Bloomsbury has never leaked the plot earlier, why would it now? This book is the last time they will be leeching off JKR, they'd like to cash in as much ah they could. Anybody high enough in the company to divulge the ending would haev no incentive to do so.

While I hate to say it, either this or killing harry would be one of the best ways to kill Volie. If all of a sudden Harry is a master duelist and all the death eaters are nothing to him there will be to many people who will just go "WTF?" While Harry Potter started as a kids book it now has enough adult fans that JK has to think about a ending that will make both sides happy. Then again we always have the rocks fall, everyone dies idea.

 

What way have you found that will make both sides happy? The kids want Voldemrot destroyed and Harry the grand hero. We, as the more mature (hopefully ) group, will want a realistic ending and that's just not it. So what can she do? I don't think she'd be writing anymore top sellers if she did something as stupid as killing everyone off. Well, maybe to some of us at DLP, but that's a completely different subject.

 

Actual prediction? A handful of the DA get seriously wounded. A couple of order members die, at least one weasly dies, Remus is injured (He can't die cause he and Tonks are hooking up) and Harry wins cause Voldimort gets cocky and Harry gets off a lucky shot that has been powered by thoughts of his Parents/Friends/Girlfriend, or a combination of any or all of them.

But if one of the poor, poor Weasley's die (especially Ginny), then all the little kiddies who are supposedly less mature then we are will be saddened and Rowling won't want that. (Ah shit, I forgot to quote and I'm far to lazy to fix it)

 

Nah, if Ron dies the kiddies are saddened, but OBVIOUSLY having him (Harry) hook back up with gin-gin will immediately make it all better!

Mabey abit late to post here, but thought I would give my oppinion on something.

I don't agree with all those that think Harry will leave the magical world. Remember that the thing he wants most are friends/family, and all friends and those he considers family are wizards or witches. So why would he go off into the muggle world where he don't know anyone?
