I like taking premises considered cliche and trying my hand at making them good... often with questionable results. Especially the one I haven't changed the first chapter of much since late '14 early '15.

    I'm a rather unpredictable updater.

I also have a lot of terrible crap on my favorites list.

Same but Taure's Lords Of Magic and Old Blood are the only fics that came close to producing the same feelings of wonder in me that the canon had.

    Who doesn't?

My wife proofreads all my plot points

I have a crippling addiction for decently written Hunger Games romance fics. Katniss/Peeta is my OTP.

    Also this.

This deserves more than a thumbs up. Made me actually laugh at loud and my boyfriend laughed too after he read this.

So I'm blitzing through the first one and I just have to say - the world-building about wizarding apartments being pocket/magically expanded sections in muggle buildings on the thirteenth floor is great. The secrecy spells used there creates triskaidekaphobia for the muggles, since thirteen is a magical number and the secrecy spells always take very well, so the 13th floor disappears from elevators (as it is in a lot of buildings here). It's just magnificent.

    Carry on, fellas.

I've never read the Denarian series.

When I first got into fanfiction I read a few H/G soul bond fics that I actually enjoyed.

I like WBWL fics just for the reveal scenes. Something about their reactions to Harry being revealed as the true BWL and the others realizing they mistreated him is soo satisfying.

Also, I like to read 'Characters react to the Books' type of fics because I get to re-read the original stories and see characters like Snape get chewed out for his bullying. Also, People being awed of Harry is great too.

I've never read a WBWL fic that actually got to the reveal scene. They either get abandoned way before that or I get bored of them instead.

Most fics don't reach the reveal scene but a few of them have Neglect Realising scenes, for example, Deprived and Harry Potter Rise From Dust.

I've never managed to reach the end of it. I really enjoy the first couple, but there's just too much of it for me to get through. Maybe if it was the only thing I read for a year, I'd manage it? Its nearly 4 million words long if I recall?

Nearly 3 million words. I haven't finished it either. I read it upto fourth book and then just stopped it. It was a bit too much angsty for my taste, and also it was slash, which I generally do not read. I did enjoy the first three books though.

Same, don't worry. Admittedly, I'm not sure I'd want to read it a third time.

Yeah, I quite enjoy a well written angst piece, and slash isn't a problem, but from what I recall all the books were just...so in need of an editor. You could have cut most of them down by over half, and not lost any substance.
