Among Us is a party game available on Steam that takes a similar form to mafia where it involves the informed minority vs. the uninformed majority. You can buy it on Steam for around 5 USD. The game is fairly simple and fun to play; I learned to play just by watching a couple people play on Twitch and Youtube.

Each game is set on a map where there are a number of tasks for the "innocents" (uninformed majority) to complete. During the "play" phase, everyone's mics must be muted, and there can be no form of communication between players. While the innocents complete their tasks, the "Impostors" (informed minority) must attempt to kill the Innocents as they split up to complete their tasks. They are aided by the ability to hop into vents to escape crime scenes quickly and easily, as well as sabotaging various areas of the map that the innocents must fix.

Voting will be held each time a dead body is found AND reported (there is a report button and you may choose not to use it, although correct play dictates that innocents should always report the body), OR when any player calls an Emergency Meeting at the central area of the map. A soft majority is sufficient to eject a player, effectively killing them.

However, all is not lost when you are dead. Dead innocents must complete all of their tasks to win the game. Dead Imposters may still sabotage for their partner in order to create winning situations.

The innocents win when every Impostor is eliminated OR when they complete every single task. The Impostors win when the number of live Impostors equals the number of Innocents that are alive.

Games are 4-10 players. If you have just a bit of spare cash, I'd recommend checking it out. This is a brief overview of gameplay; most people start to understand and develop their own strategies as they play the game.

I'd like to try and get a few games of this going during the weekend. While it is fun to play without voice on occasion, I never feel like I'm getting the full experience.

I'd be fully willing to buy the game just to play if we can get a group and time set up. Seen it played on twitch, it looks fun.

 

I want to try and get something going for Saturday or Sunday . I'm free all weekend, running on EST. So timeframes on those dates shouldn't be much of a problem. What about everyone else, when are you free and at what times?

 

I don't know any of you very well but I do like the game if you end up with a spot that needs filling. (Game's best with 10 players)

It'll be a little tricky because I'm on a mac and it's a Windows-only game on Steam, but I can find a workaround that doesn't involve cross-playing from my small phone screen.

 

I am poor and can't afford this game on PC but since it's free on mobile I'd love to play with everyone smile.

 

Do you have enough space to install bootcamp? It's how I play Windows games, and is free.
