3 part trilogy? Last article I read about it (a couple of days ago), talks hadn't even started with the writer for a sequel, and there was doubts about Theron's schedule letting her made a sequel for something like 2 or 3 years.

 

Even though this movie was a passion project for the director (she said she has always wanted to do an action movie) I wouldn't hold out hopes for a sequel. Gina Prince-Bythewood isn't exactly prolific (this is her fourth film in ~20 years). Idk maybe with Theron being gung-ho we'll get more movies.

The other thing is Netflix is never going to be transparent with their numbers. Was this successful for them? Enough to justify another big budget movie? Who knows. Netflix will never tell.

 

I finally got around to watching this. Pretty enjoyable, but had some things that annoyed me, so t's a 7/10 from me.

The thing that annoyed me the most is how idiotic some characters seemed to be. For example the CIA guy, he saw the immortals as heroes changing the world... so he decides to capture them and steal their powers by force. Then, he's surprised that the immoral pharma guy intends to torture them. It's just so naive and moronic.

I do hope for a sequel tho.

 

Definitely agree that he demonstrated the difference between wisdom and intelligence. Clearly highly intelligence, but utterly naive about the consequences of his actions.

 

This happens often in movies or TV shows. Characters act differently than how real people would. This can be tolerated but to a point.

It includes things like a villain gloating before killing the hero, or people in horror movies doing very questionable decisions like hiding in the closet instead of living the house.

 

Apparently a sequel has been greenlight by Netflix, though there's no details on a timescale for it yet.

 

More Veronica Ngo please, there aren't enough movies of her beating up gangsters that stole her daughter (she's the Vietnamese Liam Neeson).
