Wait, what? With the space sims we have now, there's no way it could have held up to those standards...

Go play Elite. Surely Squadrons is a more casual fare.

It is. It's, very nearly literally, X-Wing vs TIE Fighter or Rogue Squadron all over again The controls have been slightly simplified, mostly so that you can use a controller to play it, but in pretty much all other aspects, it's nearly identical. It's not a sim and I don't think anyone ever tried to bill it as one; it's an arcade flight game where you pilot Star Wars fighter craft and blow shit up.

That's pretty much the vibe I got when I saw the gameplay.. I was disappointed. It's basically a shittier EVE: Valkyrie is my feelings on it.

I fucking hate that they think that the brand is just going to carry them so they half ass it.

From some of the earlier replies in the thread, the brand is gonna carry them.

Real talk: It's a very solid game on the whole. It's not world changing or anything, nor do I expect I'll still be playing it in a couple months, but it's a lot of fun to just hop in and dog fight against randos. I'd give it a 8/10. It could have used a bit more work on the default keybinds and control schemes, and there's some weird graphical effects in the out-of-ship sections that could definitely use more polish, but the rest ranges from above average to actually pretty great.

I ended up refunding it on steam. It really felt like it should have been great fun for just a bit of mindless space combat, but the controls are just entirely too awkward.

And the fleet battle mode just didn't feel as impressive as it should have.

I might pick it up in the future if I end up with a joystick or a controller, since I've heard it's better on anything except kb+m.

A bit of important info for everyone who doesn't know.

It's early access. Releases at 1pm EST. About 20-25 hours worth of gameplay to complete Act 1. They've said you'll get to Level 4 in this version.

The system reqs are as follows:

    150gb space requirement is absurd.

Downloading it now. It's only 60 Gig download. 150 is just the "recommended" apparently for what might be the full game.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the assets from the entire game are there.

Finished early access of BG3. A lot of things to like. Very high quality for an EA though it does have its bugs. My biggest complaint is it felt too short. Act 1 feels like it should be longer in terms of character development. If it was just a full game, I’d give it a 7/10, but considering it’s EA, I can easily see it being a 10/10. So much potential

Took me about 17 hours. Prolly missed some stuff.

I’m debating waiting to play it again until full release or start a different class. Tough choices.

So just in case anyone's had an interest in Elite Dangerous, now's a good opportunity to get it since it's on sale 75% off for base game, 80% off for the fancy version that comes with the current season pass.

Which is due to go free2play in a month, but if you own the season pass you get a cool universal paint skin.

Post PS5 launch, what do you guys think I could sell my OG 500GB PS4 for if I include 2 controllers, all cords, and 2 or 3 games I never got around to playing? It still runs great. Does anyone remember how much PS3 value dropped at PS4 launch?

For what it’s worth, GameStop trade in value of a ps4 is 100 bucks.

You're better off selling it on craigslist or whatever to someone who doesn't know better. Trade-in value is horrible.
