Yeah, writing about wrestling gods (gods struggling to retain power and relevance in general) might not be such a good idea seeing as Gaiman et al have already covered that ground pretty thoroughly and Butcher doesn't have quite the same writing chops.

 

I just want to read about the mantle of the Kince KcMahon and his empire.

 

There's a reason why you can't think of any outside of story of the week set ups. Because it makes little sense in a medium that gives limited exposure, when you need near unlimited storytelling time to make it worth while giving up some of that time to focus on the limited, specific sort of character development you can do from an alternate reality story.

 

I've always heard it was supposed to be 22 books plus the BAT, equaling 25.

I suppose, with how the Fae can't procreate with one another, but only with mortals, it may eventually be that Harry counts more as one of the Fae.

 

Keep in mind that HWWBeside/Nemesis allows the entities it possesses to go against their normal rules. So perhaps it not only allowed Meave to lie, but also to get some of that sweet, sweet D for the first time in centuries.

But I'm also unsure of the timing, do we have a definite window of when Meave was infected? And I feel Slate was imprisoned pretty early on in the series.

 

Sometime after Dead Beat, but before Summer Knight. That is assuming she is the one who infected Aurora, which I'm reasonable of.

I would say there were some changes since 22 case books were happening before book 16 was divided into two and now even 20 is possibility.

The 18th is Mirror Mirror and I suspect it will happen before the wedding. If that's the case then the next one should be about it. It could be that Dresden will get his wrestling case in it, but the wedding probably should get its own book instead of being a secondary event. The 20th is going to have Denarians and I suspect Dresden's final confrontation with Nick. Because the apocalypse probably won't start in the last case book to have the BAT more accessible to new readers, the possible 21th could be for either wrestling gods or dragons who Butcher said should have their own book too.

 

Think there's also supposed to be a kaiju book, possibly the dragon one (though wrestling kaijus would also make sense

 

I wonder if the Kaiju was reworked into the Titan. It's quite similar. Giant monster coming from the sea and wreaking shit.

I believe the wrestling book is supposed to be the old gods and how they maintain power now that their pantheons are no more. Butcher said if he wrote a dragon book, it would take up the whole book and practically kick off the apocalypse... so my guess if this happens it will be the last book before the BAT, or within it.

 

I mean, giant-sized former gods turned luchadors aren't not kaijus

 

I suppose this explains why Butcher didn't waste "Let them fight" when Mab and Ethniu were about to go at it.

I tend to agree, I have near-zero interest in wrestling in general. I suppose a few mentions wouldn't be too bad it that's what he decided for the world-building, but a full book on the subject is a bit much, methinks. I'd rather have world- and character-building about the ones already in story. Especially since, if I understood correctly, the wrestlers are the ones who chose to stay immortals and retire from worldly affairs, so I'm not sure they'd be the most interesting or useful of characters.

 

I'm a bit confused by the term "wrestling book" - has he actually said he's going to write a DF book that focuses on wrestling? Because that sounds even dummer of an idea than an alternate universe book.

 

So he likes tropes, a bank heist aka Skin Games. A Ghost Story aka Ghost Story.

He wanted to do a book on wrestling as it’s a mini genre. But I feel it would not be so two dimensional. I am betting on Vadderung using the favour he is owed from Harry back in Cold Days to have Harry hell out some of his former Gods.

So Harry does go into the wrestling world to contact them, but in a larger meta story.
