One gripe I have about GI is how survivability characters are completely disincentivised because most challenging content is timed.

 

Just picked this up a couple of hours ago. It looks amazing, but I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing apart from just follow the main storyline. I just rained hell down upon some big electro dragon and now they want me to wish for stuff.

What do?

 

Follow the quests yeah, but a thorough procedural exploration of the map while you're questing is also key. I like to mark off segments and then cover every nook and cranny before I move on.

You'll want to progress far enough with your quests to get Amber/Lisa/Kaeya for elemental puzzle solving, then you can start exploring. You'll reveal side quests, world puzzles, monster groups guarding chests, elite monsters, domains (instances both sp and co-op), elemental statues, and shrines of depths all with various reward schemes (usually in the form of chests, exp books, or gear). Exquisite grade chests and up contain various nice rewards but also gacha currency. There are over 1000 chests in Mondstat and Liyue (seriously fucking ridiculous how many chests there are), and many are just lying around waiting for you to find them / solve their puzzles / break the rocks that cover them / kill their guards / light torches to reveal them / shoot wind bubbles to reveal them / burn roots blocking them / etc etc etc etc.

There are also anemoculus / geoculus collectible things (usually floating above you requiring gliding or some puzzle solving to pick them up) that you turn into Statues of the Seven for rewards and an increase in your stamina guage. This is also key, because you need to dodge a lot once enemies start hitting harder.

Collecting cooking ingredients, crafting materials, and mining nodes is also pretty critical. Mining will give your ore for epic weapon crafting. The general rule is to mine every little thing you come across. Ore can be quickly farmed with Claymore characters, and Amber's charged shot will net you those purple electro crystals. There are cooking and crafting ingredients everywhere. If you see a shiny marker, interact with it.

Then there are also the RPG elements. Collect gear, level and ascend your characters, upgrade your weapons and artifacts, talent boosting, etc etc. Most of the materials needed to do these things is directly tied into the rewards you'll get from exploration, and questing, and defeating those elite baddies.

 

Welp, I'm joining the Keqing gang. Not quite the claymore god I wanted, but good enough to stop me from wanting to reroll or play on alts.

AR35, really hit the endgame wall. Just chilling around, hunting down all the world elites, and picking the map empty of resources, and despairing over the state of my second Abyss team.

Some tips for people starting out: every resource is used somewhere or by someone. Even if it feels like useless trash right now, pick it up. Don't hesitate to spend your exp books to level your characters to max level you can, prioritizing your main dps (the character you have on the field the most). Also keep your weapons leveled up. Also don't hesitate to level up some early artifacts - 3* or 4* with atk% main stat and a good 2pc set bonus can honestly carry you all the way to endgame. You ideally want a pyro, electro and cryo/hydro unit for world map exploration, plus anemo for the first world area, and geo for the second. One of them should be a claymore user, always. You also want one archer. This gives you the maximum flexibility for tackling all world content, gathering and exploration. Also, if you want an easier time later, use the map pins to mark the spot where you found the anemoculuses... trust me on this one.

 

I have my keq. I wouldn't trade her for Diluc at all.

Rerolled to AR7 a couple of times. One of them was Noelle+3 Barbaras. I really wanted Jean or Venti, but no luck on that.
Went with the account that rolled Diluc. Also with Ningguang, Beidou and Sucrose. It was impressive how much stronger Diluc was than the others early on. So much so that he would just sit in the virtual bench, waiting for the others to start having a tough time.
I really like Beidou, but I'm so bad at timing the parry. :\ Sucrose is adorable and her pull + Beidou or Diluc is great.

 

Beidou is really fun. I'm not sure if perfect parrying is the way to go, or building HP and just absorbing a fuckload of damage before unloading, like a 'bide.'

Started yesterday and I'm mostly just strolling around exploring and looking for those anemo thingies for now. Died more times than I'd like to admit while climbing cliffs searching for those darn things. I rerolled a few times to get something good and ended up with Mona and got another one later on so she's my main now together with Fishl for those hydro/electro combos.

Game seems fine for now, though I've heard some resin stories and so on that might be a bit concerning, but for now I'm enjoying it and as don't intend to spend money on it's a good time waster.

 

This is only really a problem in mondstat with its smooth cliff faces (and when you have low statue level). By the time you finish exploring Mondstat and move on to Liyue, you'll be nearing 200 stamina, and every cliff in Liyue has a ton of nooks and crannies and ledges where you can stand and regen after a jumping run.

 

It was too slow Much better now that I'm 70% done with them, but all that are left are really annoying or in areas I can't access atm.

 

Wow it really is. You would have though they would have made it cost less resin if we have to run it 20 fucking times. At least the exp rewards per run are half decent.

100% of Mondstat procedurally explored. Missing 1 anemoculus though. Fml. -_-

50% of Liyue (eastern half) explored. Now on to western half. Fuck this game is big.

 

Was hyped AF for this game before it came out and so far I am not disappointed.

smh at the disrespect for my boy Diluc ITT, though. He's basically Batman with a big sword. Who doesn't want to play as Batman with a big sword?

Only AR24 right now since my phone/iPad can't play it and I don't have access to the PC all the time. Hope the Switch version comes out soon so I have some way of playing on the go.

FYI you don't need to actually spend resin for the event quests. Just clearing should count.

Got Razor. I really like Razor. But he overlaps with Beidou. I could take out Ningguang since rock element is pretty meh, but then I have three greatsword users competing and Diluc wins. Tough choices. Why couldn't he have come in at like AR10?

 

Anyone else hitting a hard Mora shortage in the AR34 range? Do I have to go farm those stupid bubbles?

Also TIL that there are openable Reliquaries that give 3 and 4star gear just sitting in my inventory. Where did those come from?
