Seeing Luke was awesome and all, but now there's an even bigger plot hole. What the hell was Grogu doing during the entire sequel trilogy? Unless Luke was a terrible teacher Grogu's training should have been completed by then.

Now I want a version of Episode 9's final battle with Grogu showing up to fight Palpatine like Yoda's fight with the Senate.

RE: the post-credits scene. If they're gonna keep making Mandalorian seasons, I want one set during the Old Republic. Please and thank you.

I mean that’s the same plot hole as “what was ahsoka/cal/any other Jedi doing during the original trilogy.”

slightly different because you don’t have the empire suppressing things, but it’s not that different.

could either be dead, off in the unknown regions fighting thrawn etc

also @Jack-O Yoda lived until 900 something so grogu is likely only a child/teenager in The sequel trilogy

    I literally fucking cried.

Also, the facial cgi is getting a lot better as the years go on. It kinda looked like a cross between Sebastian Stan and young Hamil, which definitely makes me think they are going to try and cast Stan for a middle-aged Luke sometime soon.

RE: sequel trilogy. It's a minor thing but with this added on top it makes me wonder how Luke managed to screw up training so many Jedi if he's presumably been picking up strays for years before training Ben and company.

    Grogu's age thing:
Yoda's 900 but he said he's been training Jedi for 800 years, which means he became a Master by 100. Subtract ~25 years as a Jedi Knight and that puts him at having finished his training at 75. Grogu's 50 now which means that he would be in his 70s by the time the sequels roll in, the same age as Jedi Knight Yoda.

Edit: Just remembered that Knights took on padawans too... So Yoda could have been a padawan until 100. Even still the numbers don't line up too nicely. At some point between 50 and 100 Yoda's species somehow goes from toddler to fully functional adult.

I've probably put way too much thought into it but it's bothered me since season 1 when they gave Baby Yoda's age.

I’m good with just ignoring the sequels. :)

Honestly I think Disney would be as well.

Sure they made some money. But anything with Star Wars on it would.

The Mandalorian has for the first time showed them what treating SW with respect will do.

    Episode: 4.9/5

    Season: 4.4/5

I will happily ignore all the New Republic/High Republic crap as long as Mr. Mouse doesn't screw up Kenobi/Ahsoka.

Though it still remains to be seen whether the Mandalorian is gonna be the exception or the rule from now on in terms of quality.

To go back on topic, I hope this isn't the last we see of Din Djarin. Got my fingers crossed for another Star Wars: Bounty Hunter game with his name on it.

I mean, season 3 is confirmed for December 2021, and there are two tie-in shows in the works. Even if they switch to a sort of arc format featuring other Mandos (i.e. Book of Boba turns out to be the third season rather than a spinoff), I'm sure Din will still show up as a supporting char in that arc.

I second this, though I still think the High Republic could be really good if they put more work into the characters and shifted the timeline to around 900 years before the movies (the aftermath of the Republic's Dark Age and the final war with the last iteration of the Sith Empire).

Their current timeline of 200 years prior just doesn't make much sense considering one of the biggest plot threads is supposed to be that the Republic is only just starting to expand again after the last Sith War. Not to mention how little sense it makes to have an ancient, staunchly traditionalist organization like the Jedi (with a living memory measured in centuries due to the presence of Jedi from very long-lived non-human species) change so much in terms of style in such a short timeframe.

That aside, I am ridiculously excited to see more of
Boba Fett's takeover of Jabba's crime syndicate. I think a good chunk of the Mandalorian's audience was initially excited by the prospect of a whole show focused on the dark underbelly of the galaxy, only for the show to morph instead into a more traditionally heroic tale with heartwarming family themes thrown in. I think the Book of Boba might just fit nicely into that sci-fi noir niche.

The last episode lived up to the hype. Season 2 overall I think was an improvement over an already decent first season. Nice to see Luke treated with the respect he deserves.

More proof that good Star Wars is possible to the fans. More proof to Disney that things go better when they're not being raging cunts and trying to paint by numbers. Wins all around.

Edit: Worth mentioning, Pascal knocked it out of the fucking park.

I swear, Robot Chicken Boba's tone totally captures how I felt watching that whole sequence the first time. Now I'm trying to imagine the rest of Boba's scenes creatively dubbed with RC!Boba...

I nearly came when I saw that lightsaber hilt and then cried.

Goddamn Dave Filoni... That episode was amazing. Can't really believe I have to wait a full year for more.

The best part of this article, by a longshot:

I cannot adequately express how happy this makes me, seeing this. They fucking KNOW how this is all going to go. None of this fuckery with the sequels having three different people with their own visions, they're just letting Filoni and Favreau take the wheel. Which, as Marvel can attest, isn't really that bad of a thing to do if you want continuity.

    Now, that being said...
What does anyone think about the possibility of them just deciding to Legend-ize episodes 7-9? Use the world-between-worlds from Rebels and write it off as a "possibility", like a Star Wars version of What If? from Marvel. Just re-do the whole motherfucking period after RotJ however they want; Do the Kylo Ren thing again, but with some form of a coherent plot-line (or make him Jacen after all, and give us Jaina too), just make Mara Jade & co. real again, go off in a totally different direction... the possibilities are just endless. You know Sebastian Stan would jump at the chance to play Luke, and with the success of the Filoni arm of the franchise, it wouldn't be hard to make this the juggernaut that the Star Wars of my youth turned out to be.

Fuck me. I've always been an immense nerd for this whole universe, no matter how much I might have questioned where they're going with it, but I haven't felt this giddy about it since I don't know when. This finale was everything I could have dreamed of, and everything we've all been waiting to see from Luke since 1983.

Tbh, I would much rather they continue to write around it than try and do it over again. Let's then move on to new stories in the distant future/past.

Man I would love it. Let the tv shows build to a thrawn trilogy.

thinking of casting. It’s stupidly marvel...but

    Sebastian Stan as Luke
    Hayley Atwell as Leia
    Chris Evans as Han.

    and Hugo Weaving as Thrawn

From what's been circulating around the rumor mill, it's probably going to be more of a soft retcon for the moment. No outright declaring them non-canon (at least not yet), but nobody's going to worry too much about how Mandalorian, Ahsoka, Boba Fett, or other post-RotJ projects would potentially tie into Episodes 7-9. All the current stuff is still far enough before the starting point of the sequels that they can just kind of handwave those questions away.
