Anyways, my vote would either for a charlie brown christmas or how the grinch stole christmas.

Love actually narrowly beats out Home Alone due to my never having seen Die Hard and an enduring love for seeing Alan Rickman be an asshole.

I voted for It's a Wonderful Life. It's a classic I've never gotten sick of, plus Donna Reed was so charming as well as gorgeous.

Of other movies that were left off, I have a huge soft spot for Scrooged. As a kid in the 80s, Bill Murray has always been one of my heroes.

And I agree about the first Harry Potter movie being a Christmas movie-- my mom always watches it at this time of year-- and with it coming out in theaters around then, I get nostalgic as well.

For me, what I've always liked National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is how well it balances the slapstick of "Clark Griswold is a bumbling idiot and his family is varying degrees of horrible" with having some actual heart to it.

 

Gonna be honest I think Christmas Vacation is one of the worst Christmas movies. It’s just dumb humor and people being terrible to each other without any of the charm of similar movies and an incohesive plot. None of the characters are sympathetic. It’s just a bad film that gets off on nolstagia.

I have the go with miracle on 34th street as I was addicted to this movie as a child, so I have fond memories of it. Is it *actually* the best Christmas movie...probably not, but I can't help but love it.

One stars a violent sociopath fighting off villains who are determined to sack his building of all the riches it contains, and the other is Die Hard.
