I saw spidey 3 on its release date, and have to say I really enjoyed it. While I think they tended to focus a bit more on peter parker than spidey, the action scenes where immense.

Green goblin was good and Venom rocked. W

    Anyone else seen it?

Saw it, was unimpressed, I thought they just tried to do way too much. Eh, just to be safe,
the whole time peter was strutting around all 'confident' I was trying not to start singing 'The Emo Song.' There was no development between MJ and Peter, they ended almost exactly where they started, except now he's slapped her around. Though I was amused by MJ's hypocrisy, being all pissed about peter kissing gwen upside down, claiming it was 'their kiss,' yet she made out with JJ's son in 2 that way. There's some other stuff too, but it's not something worth going on excessively about.

Yeah, I think there were too many bad guys in this one. New Goblin, the Sandman, and Venom? There just wasn't enough time to effectively develop each villain. They should have focused primarily on the Sandman, with a small subplot with New Goblin, and had the movie end with Brock becoming Venom, so the fourth movie would be all about how much Venom kicks ass.

The spiderman movies in general are actually quite shoddy, It's like the early days of harry potter fanfiction. Everything seems new and innovative, and the stories are so cool, and that new writer who really can't spell or do dialogue is a prodigy...

Thats how I see the series. It's one of those crappily acted, contrived plot wonders that leaves you wanting more.

Personally I could have done with more venom, as that was what I was looking forward to.

But I got to say I liked the acting of topher grace... he in general was one of the best actors in the series. He was such an idiotic, brown nosing dick, but he was realistic.

And there still might not be a forth movie... so it made sense to wrap it up here and now. if there is a forth movie, I hope they bring back brock, except this time as carnage... maybee the explosion did some wonky thing with venom and brock thus creating the crazy freak. It'll probably have the lizard man as well as a subplot.

I kinda agree that venom was rushed, but guess I was just really impressed by the special effects, they were awesome.

The emo bit was fucking anoying.

And I agree, I think Venom will be back in teh next film, doubt they'll include Carnage, adn I hope that Scorpian and Rhino are included if they make future films.

Don't you think Rhino would have been a better villian than sandman? The flying sandstorm was kind of lame

I was very disappointed with this one. Too much Peter, not enough Spidey... And that new confident Peter Parker was just too dumb for words. I'd have laughed at the idea that this was Peter except it wasn't at all funny.

The whole movie felt like I came home to find someone had cut up my comic books, rearranged single frames to tell some other story, and then expected me to be thrilled about it.

not exactly emo persay... he has the goth I'm a wastrel of society look down, but he isn't depressed so much as he is an ass.

He has some good moments like when confronting brock or ... um... well the brock thing was cool.

Well, as far as I could see, that whole emo scene was a satire. They were probably reveling in the complete ridiculousness of the entire thing. It was supposed to be stupid. That's why it was hilarious. As for Venom, they got the characterization wrong in my books. Eddie Brock was a meat head before he became Venom, and Venom is a sadistic killing machine, who's in total control of Brock. Eddie can't retract the mask because Venom rules his being, and he doesn't really have any motives other than violence, but I hear Sam Raimi is big on emotional nuances so maybe that's why Venom wasn't really the Venom I know and love.

I kind of like Brock... the meat head thing worked well for the comic books when parker was saying phrases like keen and golly gee. The new Brock is more like peter parker gone wrong.

He's dorky, and is obsessed over a girl. He is trying to survive city life. The only difference is that he's a bit more confident on the outside and he willingly takes the naughty road to achieve his ends. Plus he is completely for being turned into villain if the last scene with him is any indication.

Plus you get some glimpses of venom like when he is possesing peter in the sewers...

    "Good Riddance"

plus I think they were going for a more animalistic venom... since alien tar on its own is fairly unrealistic... which doesn't mean much when you take into consideration that this is a movie about a guy in a spider costume who got bit by a techno-color spider.

The Black Spiderman suit had to be the coolest thing in the entire movie, followed closely by Sandman. That last scene where he turns into the giant was win. As far as I'm concerned, Parker should have just sewed a black costume without the evil mind-controlling symbiotic sewer waste. Then he'd be ownage Spiderman and he'd still be able to walk down Broadway without looking like a dipshit.

I don't know if I'd like what they do with Carnage. Once again, Carnage is just a vindictive killing machine, much like venom, except that Carnage is a psycho too. Knowing Sam Raimi, they'll make Carnage a misunderstood man wrongly imprisoned in an asylum who has a sister with Type 3 Cancer.

If they do that, I swear never to see any other Spiderman or Sam Raimi movie. I can understand that a director can't get every single fact accurate, and that poetic licence plays a big roles in book to movie adaptations, but Cletus Cassidey was, in short, a fucking homicidal lunatic. He murdered his own mother for gods sake! You can't turn a character like that into a antagonist that audience sympathizes with.

In other news, I found this to be quite hilarious:

They screwed Venom up, he was nowhere near as big as he should've been. And what the hell was with the teeth when the costume was retracted around his face?!?

Sandman was great CGI.. but the actor sucked balls. I mean huge time. He looked like he was jutting his jaw out 90% of the time.

Goblin was alright, but pointless filler, and the amnesia made my head hurt irl. Having him die similar to his father was weak as hell.

The emo bit was stupid, MJ spent half the movie crying, and Peter being a cock to her was a bit of a waste.

The action scenes were good CGI, but WAY too fast to appreciate what's happening.

Venom needs to be redone buffer, Toby needs to buff up, he looks pathetically small even after he's packed on all that muscle. Action needs to be slown doen just a hair, trying to enjoy the Goblin/Spidey fight is near wiplash inducing.

I thought that same thing, but one of the friends that I saw the flick with said he was pretty sure that was how Harry died in the books too, so that may have been an attempt to stay close to the comic or something. Still pretty lame though.

The action scenes were amazing, but everything else was no good. The sandman was a bad choice as far as villians go, I had orginally heard that they were going to use mysterio now that would have been cool. And venoms piece was far to short, I mean they could bring back the symbiote in the next movie, Dr. connor still has the piece he was testing, but eddie brocks dead and you simplely cant have venom with out brock.

Mysterio? As in, the villain? I'm sorry but I just can't respect a guy who wears a fishbowl on his head and a purple cape, that is just insane, not the good kind of insane either. Insane as in retarded-insane.
