Let's start a thread for the new hot game on the market that deserves all the hype it is getting: Valheim.

For those who are unaware, Valheim is a Norse themed game similar to Terraria and Minecraft; where you have an open world where you get to survive, build and overall try not to get killed by monsters.

It's fantastic and addicting.

It also has a multi-player, that allows up to ten people to play at once. If others are interested, perhaps we can throw up a dedicated server somewhere and play together.

I'd definitely be down for joining in if Valheim shenanigans start happening. I've been playing solo and only got so far as the Black Forest, but I'm having a blast.

 

The description of it being like terraria has actually convinced me to give it a try. I do like these kinds of games.

 

It's pretty great game. I'm in the last currently developed biome on one server and in the third biome in another. Having a ton of fun, more than I've had in the last several years of video games.

 

It's a lot of fun. I've been playing with a group of friends for a few weeks and we've had a blast building our base and exploring the map. Some unfinished stuff still, but what's there is pretty cool.

Decided to give it a try.

First I punched a couple of boars to death, then picked up sticks, stones, and flint from the shoreline to make an axe and hammer. Used the axe to wail on a tree, the tree began to tumble over into another tree, which hit another tree, which hit me for a few points of damage and I guess managed to kill a bird, because I got a feather out of it. That there is what sold me.


Now excuse me while I go back to punching boars to get enough leather scraps to build a bow, I saw a deer but unfortunately it ran off like a bitch after one punch and I am not taking this slight laying down.

 

When I started my friends had already played for a day or two. I had spawned just into the world, and was treated on my very moment of genesis by a falling tree killing me. Ever since we have started calling out when we gather wood. I was not the only tree-death.

 

With some divine assistance I managed to snap a pic of the current settlement, DLP Ville!

 

Gonna play this weekend.

Toss up between wanting to play solo so I get the full experience and don't get pulled up faster by those with lots of resources.

And wanting to play in a group... Also likely only gonna be able to play >5 hours a week.

 

imho its a lot more magical the first time around if you are discovering everything on your own. Like some of the most fun I've had in video games.

 

Mostly ping @Paradise on the DLP gaming channel in discord. He is the one currently hosting. If we get a dedicated server, it should be open for ten people to play at any time.

 

I built my starter house in a flood plain... fml.

 

I absolutely adore this game. It's just what I needed to relax on days off. Sunk about 20 hours into it over the last 3 days, playing with my mates who are all WFH aka paid holiday. Yesterday I decided to explore the coastline of the island all the way around and see how big it was. Ended up finding a couple of new biomes including

Swamp, which is where I need to go next having just defeated the Elder, but also Plains which I'm sure is way further ahead. I got attached by a fucking "deathsquito" which literally oneshot me in full bronze armour with sword and shield, and then destroyed my boat as well. And the corpse run was close to impossible, it took 4 hours of trying to get my shit back and escape. Defos coming back fo revenge soon enough.
