I always liked mysterio he was always more of a mind games type of person rather then most badguys that just run in guns a blazing, but i guess he really wouldnt work for the movie with no real superpowers. I think they could have done more with harry though, scorpion might have been cool to see.

I hated the way they did Venom's costume as well, wtf was with the web texture/ripping off of spidey's suit?

Venoms supposed to look like this

    smooth black suit, muscular.
    Not more like this

Today director Sam Raimi has confirmed that Sony Pictures plans to go ahead and make three more Spider-Man films.

There were a boatload of characters that would have been better than Sandman, Mysterio being the tip of the proverbial iceberg. The Vulture, Kraven the Hunter, The Shocker, The Chameleon, The Hobgoblin,
The Spot, The Lizard, any of these would have been better than Sandman. If not for being cooler, than for fitting better with the theme of the villains from the first two movies.

In the first two, the villains didn't actually have any superpowers, they were just enhanced by the technology they possessed. In the third film, you get the Sandman, who is just a petty thug who got lucky enough to be trapped in a cool science experiment.

Edit: With the introduction of Dr. Conners, however brief it was, in the third movie, there is a slight chance that The Lizard may make an appearance in the 4th movie.

Agreed. The Venom costume was just not buff enough, it looked more like how Carnage was portrayed in the cartoon series.

I also didn't like how Peter was able to take off the Symbiote costume and still be effected by it. In the cartoon series, Peter never took the suit, it just turned into whatever clothes Peter wanted it to look like. And because Peter never took it off, he was getting into fights and mouthing off and turning slightly homicidal.

The way they portrayed sandman also ticked me off a little, they tried to sell him as a decent guy who made some bad mistakes when the comic book sandman was a real dick. I mean in the comics he was a mob enforcer for much of his life and a pretty nasty person. Also the last scene with him and spiderman was one sappiest, most worthless scene Ive seen in a long time.

They've had Lizard toys out for the last 2 movies, and done dick with the character, so there's always hope he'll show in 4.

They've got to get the hell away from cramming in badguys just to show them though, it doesn't give them enough time to shine

The reason they didn't make the suit muscular is because the guy who plays Eddie Brock (Eric from that 70's show) isn't built like Brock in the comics.

In the comics, Brock is a body builder as well as a photographer, so the symbiote matches his body mass and expands it. Eddie in the movie isnt a tank at all, so they made venom more like Spiderman.

Personnally, I think thats bullshit. I liked the Eddie in the movie, thought he was pretty funny, but they should ahve cast someone more muscular.

The actor himself did alright, but Venom's mass when he gets the suit, only while he's in the suit, skyrockets. They easily could of kept Topher Grace, but made Venom much bigger. Not stupidly so, but bodybuilder big

The entire Eddie Brock character was crap. They made him bitch-meat. He whined like a two-year-old when emo-Peter owned his fake picture and asked Jesus to get revenge for him. That was not Eddie Brock. That was Sam Raimi sitting in a corner with his human nuances going "Tee hee hee." I declare FAIL.

...wait. People actually went to see Spiderman 3? Wow. I had figured the second movie killed the franchise. Hmm. Did anyone like it? I've heard nothing but horrible reviews from the various media sources so I'm interested to know.

Did Venom blow as bad as was predicted?
Was Sandman as sadly portrayed as many anticipated?

and how the hell can they be considering making more Spiderman movies with the same horrible cast?

The thing that absolutely pissed me off was the American flag Spiderman jumps on before the last fight sequence.

    Ugh.

Still, I enjoyed the movie, and think the emo!Peter scenes weren't horrible. I believe the movie is still supposed to be enjoyable to kids, so I don't think it's allright to have Spiderman go homidical. It was the undertones that make the difference.

I do agree too much was going on though.

They just had to throw in the giant Flag before the last fight I mean whats spiderman without a big symbol of america waving around right? Being serious now, besides all the things i did not like in the movie it managed to entertain me and I didnt completely regret spending money to see it. I just dont like how it ended.

Personally wasn't surprised at all with the American Flag thing, believe they did that at the end of 1 as well.

They've also done a comic with spidey helping all the firemen/women after the twin towers, getting people out. I think the profit went to a charity though.
