After thinking about this, at sometimes very random moments, i cant help but think it will be something very large and/or something so good that only jbern would of thought using it, i.e. we will all gloss over it in our thoughts thinking it too stupid or not likely. An example would be the Slytherins statue in the chamber of secrets, Moody's fake eye or the Ministry of Magic entrance (the phone box). You know something important, yet obscure.

It could also be something such as the House Point counter for Slytherin in the Entrance Hall...

It was my impression that the object needs to be present when the killing and subsequent making of a Horcrux happens. Did Riddle kill anyone in a ritual in Hogwarts? We only know of Myrtle and she died of an evil glare.
Although, mind you, if Harry should happen to really be one then there isn't much ritual involved after all, right? Although this was such a unique case that everything is possible. The fact that he has a link with Voldie and can use some of his skills... it is a possibility.

I think he created first Horcrux with his father's murder.

Maybe his fathers tombstone then, Harry has touched it after all and Bills reaction could be explained by him knowing Voldemort's true name.

A tombstone is made well after death though. I wouldn't be surprised if the Horcrux was added in as part of the tombstone by Voldemort at a later date, but it is without a doubt not the tombstone itself.

Am I wrong in guessing that the first horcrux was the diary? Wouldn't that also mean that his family's death -his first personal murders- created it, not some piece of a tombstone?

Now I don't know how much trust we can place in Dumbledore's words, but I seem to remember that the diary's horcrux was powered by Myrtle's death. Now I know that it was the basilisk that did her in, not Tom, but if you take onto consideration how a basilisk is created, you could say that it is not a creature, but a magical construct and, thus, a mere, if powerful, weapon.

Put it out of it's hole, say the trigger "Kill!", and it isn't that much different from a voice activated gun.

The ring horcrux, powered by the patricide Tom JR performed during the holidays. Now which holidays we aren't sure. In the pensive lessons during HBP I remember a scene where Tom was wearing the gaunt ring (in one of the Slug Club meetings perhaps, I'm not entirely sure).

If we are to construct a time line, we are missing a key element. While we know that Myrtle was killed during Tom's 7th year (he was wearing the Head Boy's badge when he went to frame Hagrid), when DID he kill his father? Before his 7th year, during, or after?

P.S. :?: Now that the BigHead Badge was mentioned, would it not do? Harry may have touched it during PoA, and Bill was head boy. :?:

Not sure if Harry has ever touched them, but how about Dumbledore's half-moon glasses. It may sound dumb, but meh.

Possible, but they'd be awfully hard to get ahold of, AND having a Horcux that close to Dumbledore is /way/ too risky for Voldemort to do.

No, he killed them between 6th and 7th year. In HBP he was shown wearing the Gaunts' ring during his meeting with Slughorn.

If this is true, then after Tom stole the ring he then in a matter of minutes decided to make it a horcrux. This is a bit impulsive for a cunning Voldemort. And even if he made it a horcrux that night, he wore this big, flashy, gold ring proudly at public display at Hogwarts for some time and then decided that this is enough and returned it to the Gaunt shack. No - we must remember, that Voldemort did not want to keep horcruxes so close to him.

Hey, I'm just stating facts and drawing my conclusions from them. Yes, it does seem like a stupid thing to do, but you forget that Tom wasn't right in the head. He could come up with dozens of reasons for his actions.

Take this for example:to flaunt his power. "Hey, look, I made a horcrux! And I'm wearing it! Only a few Dark Lords in all history have ever made one. That's right, I'm gonna be a Dark Lord myself. Oh, that was the Deputy Headmaster, Dumbledore. Don't worry, he doesn't suspect a thing!".

You give Voldie too much credit. Remember, the Evil Overlord List was written for several hundred good reasons! Also, Sauron was wearing his own ring too.

Thanks for all the commentary. I won't tip my hand too much on the sequel.

I appreciate all the positive comments about the story. Like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for taking the time to read the story.

Lots of people commented that they thought that Harry sleeping with Lauren was OOC for him. I put a lot of thought into that and I decided to go with it at the. After all, when he wrote his will be few chapters ago, it was one of the things that he regretted. With that in mind, I went ahead and had them consummate their relationship.

There are a whole bunch of good guesses for what might be his horcrux out there -- I won't say if anyone's right or not.

One of the other things that I'm trying to improve the rate of my writing is that I'm using Dragon NaturallySpeaking. Hopefully, this will allow me to go far beyond the 20 words per minute I can type right now. I'm still trying to train the software to recognize my voice but it's pretty cool to watch the words pop up on the screen is speaking. In fact, I've written this entire reply using it. So far, the only word that I had to manually input was horcrux, but I was able to add it to the custom dictionary just fine.

Thanks to everyone who read and commented on the story. You have all helped to make it a better piece of fan fiction.

I cant honestly say anything that hasn't all ready been said other then, congats on being in that small number who have actually completed a story worth the time of all those here! To be honest i came in late to reading it (like chapter 10 or so) i never thought it would be spectacular, so naturally i was calling in work sick and skipping lectures so as i could stay and actually finish it.

It was good to read a solid independant! Harry fic for a change of the usual rubbish that filters in on FF.net. Your writing is good with moments of humor added in at the right places as well as action, dispite it lacking you sure as made up for it when it was there though.

Hack was so completely random that it was seriously amusing, it'll be interesting to see how your sequal pans out now that he'll be going back to England (really hoping that you wouldn't have done that). I just hope you dont fall into the norm for reballious Harry.

I took the interlude with Lauren as a sign of Harry's increased maturity/cynicism. I liked it.

Not only Harry's maturity, but also in tribute and good faith to Thundercloud's family and their culture. Harry really stepped out there to father a child in this family, and has promised to stay involved.

I can hardly wait for the sequel. I care a lot more for this sequel than canon's book 7, Deathly Hallows.

Not to rush you or anything, but I'm just interesting to know when this sequel is coming. As much as I enjoy 'The Lie I've Lived', I just can't wait to see post-Daemon Harry come back into England. I wonder at Luna and the Weasleys, as well as Dumbledore.

And of course, who doesn't want to see more of Hack?

Again, no rush, I just wish to see a time frame (if there is one) so that I'll know when to get my hopes up.
