Good animation. Nostalgia wank. Skeletor Mark Hamill. Take your pick.

I'm betting they won't be able to resist crossing over with the She-ra reboot as well, which could be fun.

The new season of Rick and Morty has been an absolute blast.

Its an incredible return to form. When the show would take a sci-fi concept and go all the way through with it.

Episode 2 was especially fun, overwhelming, interesting and sometimes confusing. A perfect Rick and Morty episode.

The newest episode, 3, was the first ever episode that made me actually like Beth. It might actually the be the first time she's been shown to be a good mother to Morty, or, at least, the first time I can remember.

True, especially the end of the episode.

But I also read it as Beth feeling threatened because Planetina looks almost exactly like her, has powers and saves the planet. While she's there, stuck with Jerry, trying to be sexually open, or however they phrased that with Mr. Nimbus' assistant in the previous episode.

Very much enjoyed Jupiter Rising, very sad it wasn't renewed for a second season. Compelling pacing for a superhero show.

On a whim on I decided to watch 'Jean Claude Van Johnson' on Primevideo.
It's basically a meta-show about Jean Claude van Johnson (played by JCV Damme) being a secret agent using his acting roles as a cover.

He's hilariously inept and the entire show takes the piss out of Jean Claude Van Damme and action shows in general.
I'm honestly not sure if I'm tired or just bored, but the show made my evening.

Don't take it seriously but give it a shot.

I watched Bo Burnham's Inside on Netflix last weekend. It's billed as a comedy, but I don't think I laughed once during the entire thing, but as a drama piece and exploration of isolation it's a masterwork. Very insightful in places with some catchy songs (I think most people have heard Welcome to the Internet by now, but there a bunch of different ones that are just as good), and Burnham has a way of parodying a subject matter then adding just enough reality to make you question the parody, before it jumps back in to taking the piss.

All in all I would highly recommend.

EDIT: You can also tell he looks back on his early comedy and cringes at it now. He was a bit of an edgelord back in the day and it's a bit funny how little of that is in his comedy these days.

Marvel's 'What If...?' on Disney+ is fun. Or at least the Captain Carter episode was. It's basically just an animated Marvel fanfiction anthology, but yeah fun. I doubt any of it will make its way into the 'Multiverse' thing they're doing, so probably an easy skip, but it was a worthwhile 30 some mins.

The animation is interesting too. Really clean and it reminds me a lot of the Paperman style sans the Disney cartoonish vibe.

Watched Jupiter's Legacy recently and tend to agree. There's good performances from good actors and good pacing. The show suffers from a bit of silliness and occasional drop in production value but overall it was very good, especially the flash-back sections. I usually despise flashback sections in shows as they tend to be wasted time, but here it worked well.

The actors sold this show very well, with my favorite being Matt Lanter. I could watch that guy do facial expressions for hours.

Sad it got canned. It was one of the very few cases were an adaptation looked to be going better than its source material. The source material is sort of shit.

    I wasn't a fan of the flashbacks.

The past sequences were enjoyable. The present sequences were enjoyable. But I just felt that they were clashing and breaking my immersion every time they switched.

    Ted Lasso.

    Easy 5/5.

Something about the format that bugs me, where characters sometimes seem aware they're in a 30-min dramedy but then I realise they're not, and sometimes things are as they seem, and there's nothing deeper going on. I had that issue with The Grinder too; I really enjoyed it, but something about that transgressive quality (?) broke immersion for me.

Both feel very current, but also like they're from an alternate universe that's somehow both culturally a few years behind and ahead with respect to our own timeline. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I've gone on enough about it.

At any rate, Ted Lasso is good fun. All charming characters and actors, and I especially like the guy who's like, definitely not Roy Keane. It was also nice to see a divorce play out with demonising anyone and having the thing happen relatively smoothly, without the thing getting drawn out the entire season.

I was more invested in the flashbacks than the present day, I thought some of the crew for the 'young' superheros was written pretty poorly. Seemed very cheesy.

Trailer for the new Star Wars animated show Visions just got released, and I'd say it looks incredible.

Getting to see a Star Wars anime is something I've wanted maybe not all of my life, but at least since I was 10 or 11.

20 year dream coming to fruition. *tear wipe*

Superman and Lois finished season one. I give it a 9/10.

This is the best version of Superman we've seen on live screen since the Donner era. And...Tulloch kills it as Lois Lane.

    Strongly recommend.
