From what I've seen of the mythic paths, they mostly just add spells, summons and buffs right? I've no idea how the transformations affect the story, but I personally prefer the athiest, 'I don't bow to no one' kind of RP (and seeing what broken synergies i can make with 40 levels).

The Azata dragon looks really cool though...

    @Odran

I kinda wanna make an Arthas build after this playthrough. You've done Lich, how would you go about it?

I also heard you can make Radiance your phylactery... it's almost perfect...

How would you go about it? I've no idea... I keep thinking sword-saint to get the 1h (longsword) without an OH, but they can't do armour...

Arthas needs to be able to cast (frost/necro) in plate, wield a longsword with no OH (I could probably settle for a 2h sword) and the rest is probably covered by Lich...

Paladins comes to mind, but I dunno how to get the right spells.

Edit: Lol holy shit just realized Finneas literally turns into Frostmourne.....

I honestly have no idea, on that particular playthrough I think I completely ditched Radiance as it wasn't really much of a use to my Lawful Evil necromancer. It probably just sat around in my stash at the foot of my bed, completely forgotten.

As a Lich though, you're absolutely gonna love Repurpose and other such spells, really great stuff.

Keep in mind, from what I hear, Lich path is still somewhat bugged compared to the other mythics. One of those bugs involved a mythic sidequest not triggering properly, and thus you would miss out on a potential undead companion.

Which is one more thing I feel like you should know: undead companions have next to no reactivity to your quests or anything.

    Minus the soul stealing properties.

Saw this on the Wiki when looking up weapons.

Finnean, the talking Weapon: This is a +3 ghost touch heartseaker weapon. This weapon can tear the soul of a living enemy: whenever it lands a hit, it deals additional 1d6 force damage.

I'm assuming that's when you complete his companion quest... not exactly 'stealing,' but certainly Soul Damage lol.

Nvm, attempted the Lich path, got to Zach with his wand and was completely turned off by the groveling. Literally the opposite of the fantasy I (imagine most others too) want with something like this. What a waste.

Huh, I don't recall groveling. Are you referring to the fact that you call him 'master' or something else?

Hm, I admit that I was planning to wait for at least half a year in regards of the new Kingmaker as the first game had a really rough start but it looks like this time it has fewer bugs. That said are the dialogue options still so heavily tied to the damn alignment system because in that case I certainly will wait till a mod that does away with that shit - I remember well how eliminating that and increased carrying capacity significantly improved my enjoyment of the first game.

When I first met him in his basement at Lost Chapel he literally asks me to get down on my knees and beg him to be my master/ give him the wand so that he'll teach me to be a Lich.

Then when I looked it up to try and see if there was a way around it, I read you basically have to constantly appeal to his ego for the rest of the game - though that's only if you want a Phylactery, which isn't that important.

It's so counter to everything I want to be as the Lich King that I thought I'd wait for a mod to do away with that shit...

My biggest issue on that front is the writing. Some of it is just downright ridiculous in regards to alignment dialogue options.

Evil: Your face is ugly! (cartoonish shit)
Chaotic often comes off as a poorly timed unfunny joke.
    Lawful is basically Judge Dredd
and Good is just cringey do gooder.

It's not all like that, but often enough to be disappointing.

Larian and Obsidian has them beat on that front by a country mile, from memory.

I finally got to the part where I was supposed to be able to pick the Devil path, but I couldn't. I made the wrong choice while rescuing my adorable dragon. Curse her for making me desire vengeance against those who harmed her. I did all of the obviously evil "azata"'s requests in the crusade, but I decide to murder some dragon-thieves and I'm no longer qualified for devilry?
Do I want to go back a few hours and redo most of Alushynarra? Ugh.

Azata is really fun; life bonding friendship is hilarious. Regill, Camellia, Aivu, Greybor if he's in the party, they all just instantly go to 1 hp then refuse to go down. Every combat ends with "Regill has died." "Camellia has suffered a grievous wound in blah blah blah." I'd be having a much harder time if I actually had to worry about keeping the frontline hp from plummeting. Other azata powers are interesting, but none come close to being as game changing as the power of friendship.

Party composition is Bard MC, axe thrower + bestgirl Wendy, Regill, Nenio, Aru, Camellia + tiger, and Aivu. Sometimes Greybor over Aru. The old kingmaker combo of haste+prayer takes care of most encounters, and a Selective Spell Sirocco from Nenio covers most of the rest.

That's the Toy Box mod you're looking for. It even has a toggle for achievements if you care about those.

I'm gonna have to replay this part because I honest to God don't remember this at all. The other part didn't really come off as appealing to his ego so much as him not caring for twiddlefucks mucking around.

Well, I guess it depends on what you consider to be important.

On my playthrough as a Lich, I obviously didn't manage to get the secret ending which has a lot of requirements, so naturally I missed a shitton of them, but playing as a Lich whose deity of choice was Urgathoa altered the ending slides.

    Warning, ending slide spoiler ahead:

On one hand, I feel you. I really wanted to become the supreme ruler of all undead, but the scope of the setting is too large for that. Still fun playing a Lich though. I'll probably revisit it after the first post-game DLC is released.

I honestly can't go Azata > Devil. It feels like being too much of a failure, while as an Aeon, you can still as pure Aeon as you like and you just have to pass some diplomacy checks, and bam, you have your own infernal contract.

It feels like every CRPG I've played lately goes into this grand, God-centric cosmic-scale nonsense that just doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.

Some of them give that away in the name, lol.

I picked Azata the first time but I found it a bit too... flowery? for my tastes and the character I was playing.

Trickster is a whole lot more fun. Fell in love with it the moment I went into that 'council meeting.' I'm hoping I'll get a lot of funny dialogue options going forward, the two or three I saw in my brief stint as Azata that I couldn't pick gave me enough FOMO that I rolled back and rechose Trickster - I shall miss you, little Aivu.

Maybe I'll do a Druid run and go Azata again.

Turns out I didn't fail the Devil path, it's just that you can't pick it at mythic 8 and you retrain that mythic level later. I thought that the devil would talk to you before that point and let you choose the path next mythic level.
Well, Aivu is gone, all my halfling peeps are dead and I have a signed contract now.

Trying to do Greybor's quest, except my character instantly dies from as far as I can tell nothing at all. Full health, can run around, start bardic performance, but if I cast a spell or do a similar action I instantly go from full health to dead.

Went back to Greybor's quest later on. Still died after any standard action, but Greybor buffed himself enough pre-fight to smack everyone else's face in.

Beat the game. Ending slides told me that me and Wenduag weren't as close as we could possibly be. Which leaves me very confused. I threatened to murder her if she every considered betraying me, she pulled the Greybor "pretend to betray the Commander to draw out the enemy" gambit, I drank Savamelekh's poison, she cried, everyone kissed and proclaimed their love. How much more to romance could there be?

I killed Galfrey in Iz, and also had to kill Irabeth. That was the real tragedy of that moment.

The toughest enemies in the game are Varakia Vanguards. Mephistopheles shows up to help me fight one + the unique Balor general and he just gets bodied by the vanguard. "Immunity to fear" (from Greater Heroism) not making you immune to vanguard's fear is really annoying. Had an Azata spell that provided actual immunity, but only two charges for it. Gave it to Wenduag + Arushalae on top of Hell's Decree that boosted their chances to hit. As always, Nenio is the real hero, her chief super powers being selective Sirocco and heightened selective grease.

For my next playthrough I might do Lich or Demon. I wish Lich could merge with divine spellbooks, Druid Lich like the one near Wintersun is something I really want to do. Devil was alright, getting at will Dominate Monster and Hellfire rays (eventually power word kill, but it's at the end of the game and less useful than hellfire ray) is pretty cool but the Azata life bond was still way cooler and more important so I'll probably do a full Azata run at some point too.

I can't enjoy WoTR playing as Evil. Which is really frustrating, because Regill is such a great 'evil' character in the mould I want to play - cunning, ruthless, uncompromising... but whenever the PC gets a chance to RP Evil, it's always murdering babies or just being a cunt.

Also, my idea for Lich just doesn't mesh with Pathfinder. Doing some research, my thoughts that magic is just magic, and it's how you use it etc just doesn't mesh with Pathfinder. Lich is just another flavour of Swarm, say goodbye to everything etc.

    Is Devil the same?

Having said all that, Trickster is just a joy. Particularly how Skills get upgraded to just break the game. And the interactions with the Trickster specific NPCs is just a joy - particularly the path way of solving things. Brilliant.

Question for a Pathfinder noob though. I want to make a Druid for an Azata playthrough for obvious reasons. What's my best bet for a Warcraft style druid? (Basically a nature Mage that can transform). None of the Druid archtypes seem to fit based on the descriptions, and I think Arcanist has the nature magic without the transforming.

Is Blight Druid it? The name suggests it might lean Necromancy though.

Looking at the list, any archetype (including the base class) except Drovier and Feyspeaker can do that. The baseline druid class gets Wild Shape at level 4, which is basically the Warcraft druid shapeshift (turn into a specified animal, with the options expanding as you level), and is also able to cast spells from the Druid spell list starting at level 1.

In wow terms, just go with the baseline druid class with no archetypes for a Balance or Resto druid, or Elemental Rampager for Feral/Guardian. The first is all about casting spells to do whatever they're after with the ability to turn into an animal if desired, while the latter is all about turning into an animal and tearing bitches apart while having a roster of spells for utility.

As for Blight Druid, it's basically a baseline druid but with a thematic focus on disease and rot (it can spread plagues and sickness to enemies and so on). Not a terrible idea if you like the concept of a Rot Druid

Cheers. Will probably go baseline. I imagine the gameplay of feral druid would be a bit too similar to my melee trickster.

Old man Gold Dragon Sensei is another playthrough i wanna try. So Azata being more spell focused is probably the way I'll go.

@Odran @Dellez Is the Devil path basically like

Full Lich and Swarm? Everyone dies/leaves immediately?

No. Everybody except aivu is fine with Devil. Arushalae doesn't like it but she sucks it up.

Not at all. I played an Aeon and everyone stuck by with me. Devils are literally the lesser evil here, given that they too are against demons.

Kind of hoping this really gets expanded on in the first DLC which is something for the post-game.

Also, makes me wanna hope we get Hell's Rebels and Hell's Vengeance next. I really want a game set in Cheliax.
