I get that some people argue Obi-Wan should not fight Darth Vader between Episode III and IV to keep the impact of their meeting, not to mention how their dialogue pretty much confirms there was no earlier meeting, but I really want a rematch between these two with a better lightsaber fight than we got in New Hope.

Right now we only have this fan made version:

 

There's no guarantee that the battle displayed in the concept art will be physical. I bet any actual fight they have will be through a force vision (a la Yoda's Palpy fight in the penultimate season of clone wars).

It could be a really great sequence done correctly. ObiWan reaching out from Tatooine, Vader reaching out from his bacta tank. They mind duel. Obi-Wan beats him, pulls off the mask, sees Hayden's Christensen's scarred face, and then flees from the vision in horror. Emotions ensue.

There has never been an explanation as to how Obi-wan knows Vader is Anakin. This would do that nicely. This is wrong thank you wookiepedia.

 

There needs to be an explanation aside from it being really fucking obvious?

Color me firmly hyped. As little faith as I have in general, it's physically impossibly to look at Ewan McGregor's gleeful face and not get sucked in to the hype. His excitement is infectious.

Curious what they'll do with Christensen. The man deserves some better material to work with than Lucas' atrocious dialogue.

 

I'm wrong anyway. I went back and checked. Obi Wan saw the security footage where Sidious calls Anakin Lord Vader.

 

Also he’s weird “Vader killed your father from a certain point of view”. Which is still funny years later.

 

Eh, who needs consistent narrative anyway if it gets in the way of "moar litesabers"?

 

John Williams is confirmed to be writing a new central theme for Obi-Wan. Yeeeeeee.

 

Rumour has it the base line is just the sound of his cock slapping around his knees.

 

John Williams could make that sound good.

 

Decent peek, but also 100% not sassy enough. We need maximum Sassy-wan.

 

Am very hype for this, except for one thing. Can we fucking just let go of Tattooine already like holy fuck I am sick and tired of that shithole. A whole galaxy to explore, Disney. Come on.

 

Apparently a significant portion of the plot will take place in "Space Reno", which I think we got a few glimpses of (the neon light cityscape). So that could be fun.

 

I was 100% hyped for this before Book of Boba Fett came out. Now I'm just wary of the whole thing. I want to be hyped for it. Obi-wan has been one of my favorite characters for ages. But I just don't trust Disney to not fuck this up too. I'll reserve judgement until I can actually watch the show, but I refuse to buy into the hype and get my hopes up in the mean time.

 

I like the story line they seem to be going for. The hunt for the remaining Jedi.

I am cautiously optimistic.

 

I'm curious how they'll balance out the Inquisitor's with Obi-Wan < 5 years after the fall of the Republic. He's clearly still near his physical peak as someone who could compete w/ Anakin and should be a noticeable step up above the Inquisitors. But him just constantly beating them down and then running away doesn't exactly make for good tv

The Grand Inquisitor is an ex-Jedi so he at least has some credibility in holding his own against Obi-Wan, if not defeating him.

But I imagine the show will be about a game of cat and mouse that is mostly covert in nature and will not involve much lightsaber combat (if any).

 

The Inquisitors were all ex-jedi or ex-padawans personally trained by Vader. Also, they were brutally tortured until their minds broke. They are maybe not on the level of Obi-Wan / Maul / Ahsoka / Vader, but they can go toe to toe with the like of Cal Kestis, Kanan, and Ezra.

We should at least see some good fights.

 

I would guess there will be no beat downs until the end. I get the impression it will be a cat and mouse/spy style story line.
