    Here's the answer you'll get:

    "Because dinosaurs."

Why would you need more than that in your feel-good action blockbuster about people running from / fighting off giant genetically modified prehistoric lizards?

Much like any post-apocalypse dystopia, it's all just located in the US, and we're letting you guys just get on with it.

Watched Murder on the Nile. Like the first (almost exactly actually) Poirot was cast and acted perfectly, the ensemble cast was pretty great too (in a cheesy, classic murder mystery way), but I left the movie feeling unsatisfied with the conclusion, and how we got there.

Part of the fun of these kinds of whodunnits (to me) is being able to sleuth right alongside the protagonists and briefly live a life of a genius detective through them. Unfortunately, I just didn't feel the clues were ever there until they were dropped out of nowhere in the movie's conclusion, which kinda left a sour taste in my mouth. Kind of like playing I-spy with someone and they pick something I cannot possibly see, because it's in their jacket pocket...

Sure. Well done. Have a cookie.

Maybe it's just how I consume these kinds of movies, but I just left the cinema feeling massively underwhelmed - just like the first one.

I just discovered that Netflix is doing Cliff Beasts 6. Now that is a sequel everybody was asking for.

And in case someone lives under a rock and is not familiar with this franchise a short introduction.

Awesome! I binge watched the series during lockdown and it's hilarious. I put them on par with the Tremors series for schlock action, though less funny overall. Excellent popcorn throwers, though it being Netflix means you have to clean it up yourself afterwards.

CGI is looking a bit iffy this time though. I hope that's just for the trailer and not because of budget cuts.

The Batman was really good. Probably in my top ten movies list now.

Firstly, Robert Pattinson is a phenomenal actor. He doesn't have many speaking lines, but he kills the scenery and tells the story just with every scene he's in. If there is a weakness to his acting, it's prolly that he looks less buff when shirtless that one would expect of Batman. But then again we're comparing him to people like afflect/bale who got absolutely shredded for the role.

Zoe Kravitz basically killed Anne Hathaway and won't tell you where the body is. Her Catwoman was phenomenol.

Rest of the cast was good to middling.

Falcone could've stood to be more intimidating than he was. Wish we would have gotten more Andy Serkis as Alfred.

The nuance in the film is legit. The noir elements and true detective batman rather than simply action-hero really distinguishes this film from the other Batman films.

I'm not going to say this is the best movie in the Batman world, but I do think it is the best -Batman- movie if that makes sense. Batman is smart, brutal, and, at the end of the day, a hero.

Great film and I'm excited for a potential sequel which they did setup.

It's Netflix, even without cuts CGI will be mediocre at its best. At least they have Doctor Lacey back because without her powers the series wasn't the same.

One more video from Netflix. They certainly want fans to be ready for the premiere.

    The Bubble trailer.

In my opinion it would be way funnier if they just continued with the mock marketing and then just put full Cliff Beasts 6 on Netflix instead of this movie.

I adored it, and I think the fact that I came out of the movie wondering if I liked it more than Dark Knight says everything. I feel like there's a trade-off, Ledger's Joker is still the best, but Patterson's Batman is everything I want in him as character.

I don't need him to be Superman, with an overly ripped physique (which is absurd. He's absolutely buff af, we're just comparing him to other gigachads). I want him to be a legit detective, and I think they hit that in this movie perfectly
even if he doesn't actually do anything in time to stop it in time
    .

There's a bit at the very end in Arkham I didn't appreciate, but other than that I don't really have any qualms with the movie at all.

    All hail DiggoryBat.

I'm in the same boat. Was legit wondering if I like it better than The Dark Knight. It's better than Begins and TDKR for sure though.

Heh, I‘ve always called him Shovelbat when talking about the film. Anyway, this has definitely made my watchlist. I tend to really adore the kind of film (or any media, for that matter) this thread and some of the reviews I’ve read described it as.

Pattinson has done a lot to free himself from the Twilight “stigma” over the years, but I think Batman may be the final step in that.

Jesus fucking Christ, give the guy a break already. He "freed" himself from Twilight years ago. I spoke to someone who said that although he's a huge Batman fan, he won't be watching this movie because Pattinson played a sparkly vampire once. Another guy asked if it's even worth seeing this movie because he just can't unsee the sparkly vampire. I told him that's like thinking Tom Cruise could never be an action star because of his role in Risky Business.

Not really. He has been knocking it out of the park for years, but he's not exactly been making blockbusters.

People who go out and watch movies about sparkly vampires got no right to complain about anything.

I can understand someones actions off-set ruining anything they're involved in, like Spacey or Polanski. But I've never seen any movie so bad that it would put me off anything else the actors were in, that's just... sad.

    Just saw The Batman. Awesome.
Absolutely loved it. Guilty confession: I was one of those who was hesitant to see the movie due to Pattison's sparkly past.... but the movie destroyed any preconceptions I had about it. Lol I went in reluctantly and all I wanted to see was Serkis as Alfred... but yeah the whole movie is absolutely wonderful.

To those who don't want to read the spoilers, here's the thing; almost all recent Batman movies have been "Bruce Wayne" movies packaged as Batman movies (I include Nolan's trilogy in this. Fight me).
But this one, oh this one is a Batman movie with Bruce Wayne showing up as cameo. And it is everything I want in a Batman movie. The fact that Pattison has so few lines alone should be telling.
To those still skeptical, if you're even a little bit of a fan of Batman the animated series, just go fucking watch this. Preferably at night.

The movie strikes an incredible balance between being a superhero movie and a Noir film. It comes together perfectly. The direction, the cinematography, the story telling, the symbolism, everything fits together so well. An excellent example of show don't tell. The entry scene of Batman and the way they showcased how Batman uses fear, his goals towards the city, the symbolism of how everyone else is in costume during Halloween but Bruce just has a hoodie....very captivating moments for people like me who appreciate some symbolism. And that its also nice how consistent that theme is throughout the movie. where The Batman is his actual persona and Bruce is just a costume.

And while The Eternals was a completely different kind of movie, it stands in direct contrast to this movie on how to manage a theme for a superhero. Vengeance turning into hope and that lesson being told by the Riddler himself. Cherry on top of the cake.

I did not think I would ever see a realistic Penguin or Riddler ever.

I would love to see if they can ever fit this Batman into the Justice League. That would be awesome to watch if done right...

But then I guess they'd have to revamp the whole Justice League to make it fit, lol.

All-round wonderful movie and small things I'm unhappy with are just nitpicks at this point.

When The Batman was first announced, I was pretty against the idea of another grim and gritty take on Batman's early years - as if we need another one of those! The more I saw of it though, the more I began to come round to it, and having seen the final version, I'll admit it: it's pretty fucking great. I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say it's the best cinematic installment, although it's definitely up there, but infinitely better than I expected it to be originally.

At the very least it rolls right over anyone who said Pattinson can't be Batman because of Twilight.

Honestly, I found The Batman pretty...mediocre? I loved Pattinson, I loved that they showed Batman solving crimes, being the great detective and I think Colin Farrells makeup artist deserves a knighthood or something because I just could not recognize him and it worked so well. Kravitz? Gold. The Batmobile? Superb.

But the story was nothing special; Riddler felt meh, the revelation about Thomas Wayne not being perfect just doesn't work for me in a post Joker world because it isn't new anymore (and the shoehorning Joker into Arkham just no, for gods sake make a Batman film without him please). It made me super nostalgic for BtAS but not in a good way because it hit every note from that, but not well enough. So I watched Mask of the Phantasm and that made me feel better.

Oh and Serkis as Alfred just didn't fit for me. The tolkien bad casting if you will.
