I think my only annoyance is they dropped a GOTG open world From game with basically a Dark Souls aesthetic instead of a Bloodborne one.

80-100 hours long if you kill all the bosses. You can absolutely overlevel by exploring.

Still, I think I'll wait for the DLC. I'm not playing this game twice. Or relearning it.

There's some Bloodborne aesthetics if you travel to the southern region.

Your loss IMO. The game's a solid Souls experience with some interesting new mechanics and a lot of fun bosses. I haven't done too much pvp yet but I've had a pretty good experience so far barring some minor lag and frame dips.

I've put 24 hours into it so far and I've enjoyed every second. Definitely plan on doing a ng7 run after I'm done with my current sl1 run.

Frankly, not even mentioning the criminally bad way the game runs is pretty shitty.

Waiting is definitely the way to go. I lose nothing.

Game runs just fine for me, not sure what everyone's been having issues with.

If anyone is interested in the game "This War of Mine" and hasn't gotten it yet, The Complete Edition is on sale at GoG for 85% off, with all proceeds going towards helping Ukraine. Offer ends March 3rd, I believe.

Yeah PC performance is apparently something of a mixed bag. It either works just fine for you, or it's a disaster, with lots of stutters, frame drops, and inconsistent timing. I've seen almost nothing in between.

Reminds me a lot of the original PC release of dark souls, in all honesty.

It's not that bad. We didn't even have native controller support for pc DS1 originally. We had to mod that shit in.

This is anecdotal of course but pretty much all my friends IRL are playing Elden Ring and the most they've reported is an odd stutter or crash here and there but nothing terrible.

Idk about PC but my roommate is playing it on the PS5 and it runs beautifully there. Definitely looking forward to playing it when he's done with it.

Got the game yesterday, sunk around 15 hours into it already and I've not been invaded once. I am disappointed. I read apparently you can't be invaded when solo? That really sucks, I understand a lot of people don't enjoy getting invaded but I always have.

I've also always enjoyed being a sunbro but I have outleveled the summon signs for my area. My need for completing a lot of the map has really hurt me here. Hopefully getting to the more end game areas they will start summoning me again.

A minor but nice addition in this game while sunbroing is that bosses can switch target while in an attack animation. So they can be attacking someone else, mid swing just full on do a 180 and land that same attack on you, a lot harder to predict compared to previous souls instalments where they would attack the player they were targeting at the start of the animation. It's great it means you got to be that little bit more alert.

Initial impression is that overall I think the game is great, but I also think the coop/invasions is a slight let down so far. A combination between the size of the world, summon ranges and just changes to invasions.

Default is you're only open to invasion once you've summoned help, and it'll be max one invader/two summons. but if you want more PVP open the multiplayer menu and use 'Taunter's Tongue.' That'll put you straight into the invasion pool, cuts the timer between invasions, and changes the player limit to one helper/two invaders.

AC valhalla was on mega discount a few weeks ago. I picked it up... and good lord does it need a difficulty upgrade. The stealth AI has always been pretty retarded, but the combat has somehow gotten even less nuanced when compared to even the Syndicate / Black Flag gen. The mooks are Dynasty Warriors levels of dumb, and you can just plow through them with literally any dual wield build (dual spears and dual shorts are so stupidly op) and the grappling hook skill. Forgive me, but how is lightly tossing an enemy into another enemy supposed to kill both of them?

    SMH.

That said, I really am enjoying the story and setting in this one. Ireland was epic. Haven't genuinely cared about an AC story since Desmond.

I'm curious if that holds for you. I really started to despise it with every region 'cleared' in England.

    Note, I loved Odyssey.

I've made 4 alliances in England so far. Ireland fully cleared. Did Asgard part 1. Halfway through Frankia. Just started Isle of Sky.

I'll probably get bored before the end given how much content there still is to go, but I'm enjoying it so far.

    This is exciting.

I truly hope they get this right.

The world needs a good Harry Potter game.

Speaking off. Does anyone remember that one game that was purely quidditch

I didn't think any sort of gaming news could floor me, but Rockstar introducing a subscription into a 9 year old game (GTAV launched in 2013) floored me.
