One thing, and I think I've mentioned this before, is that I've seen many of my Gen Z employees being lacking in tech literacy.

They're so used to "Tap a button and it just happens" that the underlying principles and framework knowledge doesn't exist. Had to teach an employee how to create a file folder on their desktop....

Literally getting the same tech questions from my Gen Zs that I used to get from my boomers.

 

I work in a pharmaceuticals lab. That is depressingly accurate. Hell, they barely know how to use a spreadsheet.

 

I also barely know how to use a spreadsheet, but I can generally google what I need to do with one. I tell myself that at least puts me above folks who run into an obstacle and immediately quit...

 

Reminder, being able to poke around in menus and adapt to what you find in order to make it do what you want puts you in the top ~5% of computer users in the OECD.

 

How unsatisfying it is to be in the top 5% of something for what zero effort on one's part.
