Its been a few years since we got the last book and the next one seems nowhere in sight. Do you think the series will be finished or go the route of Kingkiller, Game of thrones, Gentlemen Bastards.

It probably will, but it's going to take at least 20 years before the last book.

It will. It will take some time, but it will.

Remember, JB has put out 17 DF books, 6 CA books and 1 CS book for a total of 24 books in 22 years. All together, he's averaging one book every 11 months, and that doesn't include the reams of short fiction he writes as well.

Hell, just on DF he's averaging one book every 16 months (rounded up).

The problem with averaging is that it doesn't tell you about current situation. The old Butcher, before Cold Days when it was one books a year, would be finishing the series already, now I would say it's 3 years a book.

Aye, past trends don't equal future trends. Especially since his output deterioration has coincided with his general life problems.

As to the actual topic, I expect it'll probably be finished at some point. But I'm sad to say that I no longer really care. I'll probably read them for closure, but I doubt I'll ever reread the full series again. Maybe I'll do it for the last book, but I used to do it for every book.

Whether Dresden writes (and what he writes about) is dependant wholly on who he's dating at any given time.

So if you want a new book and are willing to take one for the team, you know what to do.
