And of course the Tremere themselves will most certainly be displeased with this little upstart neonate, and take it upon themselves to introduce him to a bonfire. The Brujah would probably side with him just to piss of the Tremere, and I can see him having a little chitchat with the clans of the Innocu. Not to mention dealing with the Inquisition and the fucking scores of wizards coming to "save him from the evil vampires!" On top of that, he has to develop his disciplines and general skills to survive, plus carve out a niche for his clan.

And you know who else could get involved? The Black Hand and Tal'Mahe'Ra.

The Sabbat would be against the new clan, because to the Tzimisce he's gargoyle fodder. The Ventrue and Toreador would be content to just let the situation resolve itself. A few Gangrels could stick up for the fledgling clan just to piss off the high-and-mighty Tremere. Since he can be construed as between human and vampire, the caitiffs would flock to him. The Nosferatu like an underdog, and the Malkavians... who bloody knows with that lot. The Anarchs would be bang alongside him.

You're right, the wizards would be trying to cart him off to the nearest magical hospital. Although they could prove useful when the Inquisition come knocking - they're muggles that know about magic, after all. As for the shadowy sects - Black Hand and Inconnu and whatnot - it's not really my area. Although the half-human Harry could be seen as a sign of Gehenna...

I can so easily see Dumbledore poking his nose in. It looks like Harry's biggest troubles won't come from his direct foes, but from those that are supposed to be on his side...

I'm seeing several camps of influence. First we have the Camarilla. They would probably accept Harry, but not wholly. Next are the Sabbat, who would seek to destroy him for being Tremere. The Anarchs would use him as a standard to rally around. The Kine would try to cure him of vampirism. And then there's Harry himself.

Better even than sire/childe is three traits of blood bonding. It's been four years since I last played Vamp (three characters in a month to diablerie in a larp game), but I seem to recall that's like having all three of Asimov's Laws stuck on you. Or if he's anti-trib, shovelhead his new friends and vinc them on a pure Harry diet. Random muggle plus blood replenishing potions equals plenty of vitae for vinc, ghouls, and refreshing midnight snacks.

Could be fun to see an Assimite!Harry diab his way into Volde-obliterating skillz. Then just create a childe and toss it to his friends so they can stay one generation behind him as he climbs the ladder. A coterie or pack of ten eighth gens and a seventh gen will kick alot of ass.

It doesn't sound like he'd have any allies. Oh, he'd have individuals he can trust, but no factions he can rely upon. The Anarchs want him as a standard, the Camarilla will leave him be as long as he follows their rules, the Sabbat want him dead, Dumbledore's lot will want him cured and back to being their weapon, the Ministry will want nothing to do with him, Voldemort will still want him dead.

So there'll be a handful of OC vampires from various clans that will make up Harry's coterie, to act as his inner circle until he starts building up his clan. Maybe a few OCs to be embraced if it can't wait until England. It'll have to be decided whether Harry will relocate back to England, or he's just heading back there to put unfinished business to rest and go on a recruiting tour before returning to his burgeoning little slice of turf back in America.

Another possibility for how he gets halfway between human and vampire - the prophecy means that one of them will knock off the other. Since the embrace technically kills the childe, it could definitely be sticking it's metaphorical nose in there.

Edit: the-caitiff, the reason for sire/childe is it not only guarantees an ally (it comes with a stage one bond straight out of the box to boot), but also adds to the new clan. Although spreading some blood around and creating fully-bound ghouls could definitely be an alternative. If memory serves, however, the Camarilla is a bit leery of anyone using blood bonds in large amounts - smacks of Sabbat rituals.

Diablerie could get Harry blood hunted. Plus, if Harry ends up sharing blood, he's bonded to somebody else. Assamite!Harry would be interesting. And too many ghouls endangers the Masquerade and gets him exstinguished.

Besides, too many allies means a dragging story. I'm thinking he has maybe a core pack and that's it for the start.

Agreed. And ghouls might be pushing the Masquerade, but you don't have to ghoul someone to bind them. Could be rather useful.

For the core coterie, the Ravnos, the Assamite, and the Setites should be written out from the start. And Sabbat clan antitribu would be pushing it.

Brujah are stereotyped as brawlers, but their history has a rather interesting theme of scholar-warriors running through it.

Gangrels are fun, but they're very animalistic and isolationist. Probably wouldn't take kindly to running around the suburban areas.

Giovanni are a definite possibility. Their necromantic skills would come in handy when it comes time to deal with a horcrux, and they'd make for interesting interactions with dementors.

Malkavians are fun, but very difficult to do well.

Nosferatu are interesting, not to mention useful, but their looks would throw up a pretty significant barrier to anyone trying to weave them into a story.

Toreador... another definite possibility. A clan obsessed with keeping a hold to their humanity could very well be interested in what Harry represents. Someone from here could offer political clout and lessons in manipulations.

Tremere, hah. No Tremere would touch this off-shoot with a ten-foot pole, unless the pole was sharpened to a point.

Ventrue are, for the most part, too reserved and cautious to get involved with a fledgling clan.

A Brujah, a Giovanni and a Toreador, perhaps?

That sounds like a pack. Not to mention the inter-group dynamics would be fun, seeing as the Brujah are mistrustful of Tremere and think the Toreador are pansies. But I think rather than Giovanni, add Panders.

Careful with the Sabbat terminology. Harry's new clan would probably be at least marginally on the side of the Camarilla. So a coterie rather than a pack, caitiff rather than pander.

I dunno about adding a caitiff. They're basically nobodies to all but the Sabbat, and Harry's halfway to being one anyway. But three people seems too few, and the more I think about it, the less I like the idea of a Giovanni in the coterie. The Brujah brings the brute force, the Toreador the influence, and Harry the magic... what else needs covering?

Caitiff would probably add worldy influence, but if we're building for efficiency I'd say a Venture antitribu or autarkis. That covers the political angle.

Toreadors are as much political creatures as Ventrue are, so having one of each in the coterie would be a tad redundant.

But the caitiff idea is growing on me - one with contacts among the lower walks of life to compliment the higher-up political clout of the Toreador/Ventrue. Add them to Harry and a Brujah Anarch/Anti and we may just be in business.

There are a few caitiff legends around with enough pull to make a political story (read the Players Guide to Pariah for a few examples), but why not just have Harry become a caitiff from the start? A coterie of caitiffs or pandars could have a lot of variety in their disciplines and some minor pull on local politics.

Why do you really need a clan? Yes it's a bit easier to avoid being destroyed if you are the childe of someone important, but Harry has enough influence on his own. He does not really need a sire with pull who will only end up bossing him around for the first couple of centuries. He's got at least four, maybe five, traits of resources, five traits of fame, a few traits of allies, a few traits worth of artifacts, and some political clout that he never uses.

I really feel that in the short term clanless is the way to go. Long term yeah you really don't want to meet a messy end so a clan to back you up is nice but even that won't protect you from stupidity (in fact stupidity is more lethal if you have a clan that might become embarassed). The reality of the situation is that unless you really start pissing important people off you're pretty safe even without a clan. The Prince of London won't call a Hunt or send the Assamites to get you unless there is significant reasons to. Even if the assassin/sheriff hates you they won't take the hitjob without incentive. If he's dangerous enough to need killing, he's dangerous enough to require a lot of overkill. Otherwise, he's just an annoying little bug.

Point. We could go with the original idea of his sire being wiped out, and then he becomes Caitiff.

/Me hopes the-caitiff is becoming more receptive to the idea.

I don`t know so much about VtM as its impossible to get into any RPG, larp or otherwise, around here. But is there any way of adding some Dune, WoT-like love/hate relationship of trying to use each other for their own ends stuff.

Yep, you just described the entire "World of Darkness" in a nutshell. Everybody hates each other but regrettably they have to pretend they don't so they can convince/coerce/kidnap-family-and-force each other into doing whatever it is they want done. The smart players realize that they have to do what the others want, but their help can earn them favors to be paid later for their own projects. The dumb players whine, constantly, and are eventually eaten by their "friends". Even the werewolves are not immune to cannibalism occasionally. I've seen it successfully argued at a national gathering that since the laws forbid eating "the flesh of humans" and that guy, while he was born to human parents, was not a human but a werewolf. Ergo ripping his heart out and eating it in front of his children, while in poor taste (needed a bit of hot sauce), was not a crime. They let him go scot free and didn't even bother to close the loophole (I think the elders wanted those young whelps to think a bit before pissing them off in the future).

Basically when you think of VtM, imagine if Slytherin were actually cunning and sneaky instead of just evil idiots. Doesn't really matter what clan you're thinking of, they're either a Slytherin or else they "decide" to work on their suntan one morning. Malkavians are the only exceptions to this rule. They can occasionally be sorted into the House of Looney Lovegood (yes the secret fifth House has been found at last!) but that's only because they are even more bat shit crazy than they are sneaky manipulative bastards.

I don't know if this is Necroposting, but through my profile I found this C2 in FF.net dedicated to HP/VtM Crossovers and other Vampire!Harry stories. Maybe the stories in there are not the best, but some are readable.

I find all the ideas posted in here pretty interesting, and some of you make me wish I had read them before writing mine (which, by the way, needs editing badly). I would certainly enjoy reading what's been discussed here if a fic would come out of it.

I might end up writing it if all my other plot bunnies die on me. Seeing there's currently around five of them and only one is even partly written, I don't think it'll be happening soon.

Caitiff, Mindless, weigh in. Either of you want to claim this bunny as your own?

Eh, I wanna see an evil, Sabbat Harry. Lasombra, anyone? For a Dark!Harry vamp-fic, Lasombra definitely has potential.

Needs to be terribly AU or have a believable evolution towards the Lasombra "evilness". Canon!Harry is too much of a pussy to be a Lasombra. Still, it's one of my favourite clans in VtM (of what I've seen and played so far, which by the way isn't that much) and I would love to see it done.

The only character that I can imagine as a Vamp in the WoD and mantain a canon personality would be Hermione as a Kiasyd (or maybe Bella as a Baali)

Wouldn't take that much of an AU, no more than any other Dark Harry story. The Sabbat don't just Embrace twisted, power-hungry sadists. They create them. Hell, just the Sabbat Embrace and initiation is pretty damn traumatic.
