Yeah, I was arguing about the show with a friend and used a similar comparison: What if you were a Harry Potter fan and they finally announced a movie or tv show adaptation and you find out that Ron is the one who faces Quirrell at the end of PS? Wouldn't you feel robbed or cheated?

Whoah whoah whoah. It's definitely Hermione here who'd face Quirrel, let's be utterly real. What happens to Ron is that he gets called evil by McGonagall who's taken a starring role and his actor gets replaced. (Neville kills his frog by accident and has a love triangle thing with Hermione and Harry, obviously.)

Last season, Hermione and Lavender Brown defeated the assembled forces of Darkness using girl power.

This season, Parvati Patil got shot in the leg and made Lavender forget her lines, but don't worry, Hermione defeats Voldemort but doesn't strike the killing below because Harry tripped on the hem of his robes and stabbed Voldemort in the eye with a butter knife.

Next season, Harry gets lost in the Forest while playing cowboys and indians. Meanwhile, Hermione is appointed Headmistress and solves world hunger.

Trailer for season 3 dropped. I don't want to get my hopes up, but it looks fantastic.

On ep 3. The visuals are pretty good, but they keep failing on the lore. It makes for so many plot holes.

Curious to see how you feel about episode 4, the most lore accurate episode so far. Matt's storyline obviously the missing part.

I loved it, easily the best episode so far. If season 3, and any seasons beyond, continue like this, I will be extremely happy.

Just watched it. I agree wholeheartedly, it was really well done, although I'm sorry to see the Mat got written out, as usual. Are they just never going to give him the Ashendarei?

Yeah, Mat is my favorite character so that was a bit disappointing. Either he finds another doorway in Tanchico, or they save it for Tear and double it up. We have some evidence that the scene will play out somewhere thanks to Min.

I feel like after the brilliance of the Rhuidian episode, it's kind of reverted to bad habits.

    My shock is immeasurable.

Mostly because science has yet to invent a small enough number to quantify it.

Episode 7 was meh, in my opinion. First because it was all Perrin all the time, and second because...have the directors forgotten about Fades?

    Cancelled.

Turns out if you make something that is just 'the show the writers couldn't get made in a WoT skinsuit' it fails.

That's surprising to me, honestly. I was finally liking it more as a WoT-Books fan, and it's always been popular with non-Book fans.

Not that this is at all specific to WoT, but these fuckin people have got to stop with the 2+ years between seasons shit.

The LotR license be costing cash money

(to be clear, I have no idea what they have to pay to the Tolkien estate)

Nowhere near enough to stop Christopher Tolkien from spinning in his grave.

Considering that it was so expensive I think it was never going to get the viewership it needed for the Bezos bucks to keep flowing. While S3 was a lot better, I suspect it was the last shot.

Still cheaper than the LoTR drivel. But fair point.
