Maybe, but they would have to think of a plausible reason in the lore as to why the killing curse would be resitricted for PVP. They couldnt just grey out the button with no explanation, and somehow I cant see there being any treaty between factions not to use it or anything. My money would be on a limited hit chance and a very hefty cooldown timer.

As for EA, I think I would rather not have the game than have EA make it. If they make an MMO someone talented in making them should be given the license so that a good job is made of it, like Turbine have done with LOTRO. Unfortunately, EA would just rush out a bugged, childlike game with no eye for quality like they have done with the majority of the Single Player HP games so far.

I totally agree with you about EA making the game,it seems that they have dwindled over the years and their prime is quite past now. Sad to as they use to make some great games. Anywayz, yes that would be one solution to the killing curse, having a very rare hit chance and maybe a 15 minute cooldown. It would be great if it was like WOW where you can grind and stuff, unlike lord of the rings online where you can only do quests to level up =(

but overall I think turbine would be a better group to make it,or maybe rockstar? rofl

Well, in my earlier post I talked about the game being light and dark sided with neutral NPC and monster filled areas.

So I guess the killing curse could be used against other players but if you are light sided than it would be a really stupid thing to do because you would be an instant enemy of your own people, and neutral NPC's, who would try to stick you in Azkaban- and the dark side already hates you.

If you are dark sided than it would be less detrimental, but not too much better. Your own side wouldn't hate you but you would be attacked by any neutral NPC that you saw- though I was thinking that higher level wizards could have some respect/fear level to make opposing NPC's of a lesser lever run in fear- and the light side would start sending out dementors.

And I think that the earliest possible point that we might excpect someone to start on an MMORPG is when they finally finish the seventh movie. Then, perhaps, the company that owns rights to the Potter world in video games or some other company that buys it will have the free time, as they are not making any more games for each movie, to start an MMO.

EDIT: It would have to be someone new to make the game, or someone whose MMO was really good but has started to dwindle as it has been around for a while. We can't excpect anyone who already made a game to make another to compete with it. It would be awesome if Blizzard made a game from the Harry Potter world but that would only happen if WOW suddenly took a huge dive for some reason- which I can't imagine happening. Same thing with turbine and whoeever else.

I know there was a HP mini-MMO based on Neverwinter Nights 1. Wasn't too busy.

Maybe someone will resurrect it for NWN2 which has a much more update engine.

Didn't read the second page, but I'd like to throw in my two cents. Take the alignment method mentioned above from KotoR, and combine it with The Elder Scrolls series. You would control your character in a similar fashion to Morrowind or Oblivion, and your actions would reflect on your alignment and appearance.

Now you could also just take the engine and game play from both KotoR games and throw it into the Potterverse and it would be an incredible game.

Having the Killing Curse restricted by learnign it would be better still, IE: you can't learn it unless you have got the credentials or manage to get the book from someone.

I was thinking that one set during the time of Merlin or the Founders would be good. Because then the character part wouldnt be quite as hard. Inventing new spells and learning new spells. Constant dark lords. Slytherin and those guys would be awesome

A good time would be just after the dark lord's 1st Defeat, in 1981. It is a big dark area that Rowling has not shed any light on. Either that or or Dumbledore's time would be quite good, either as Dumbledore in hogwarts or Grindelwald time.
