Who's gone to see it? What do you think?

I loved it! Amazing fighting scenes, amazing special effects, and the girls weren't bad to look at either ;).

I think it sucked donkey balls, and honestly have no idea how it made as much money as it did.

I haven't seen it yet, but what was so bad about it? I'd like to save my cash if it's not worth it.

    Well,
    1. It was way too loud. I really didn't enjoy it. For me it seemed like submission more than entertainment.
    2. The fact that's its basically marketed towards six-yead-olds doesn't help its case.
    3. The only reason you'd go to the movie is to see robot-on-robot violence, and the occasional pedestrian getting splattered.
    4. The overall movie just falls flat, like Armored Core games. Sure, it has a fanbase, but it won't appeal to a crowd that's actually looking for substance.
    5. Micheal Bay.

Edit: Yeah, killginny puts it simply.

Well, I must be in the minority here because I thought it was fanfuckingtastic. Going into it though, I knew this was a shallow summer popcorn flick from Michael Bay based off toys I used to love twenty years ago.

Be aware of those facts and it's just about a perfect movie.

It doesn't try to be too much, there are of course cheesy, goofy sounding lines as is required when pandering towards the masses and aiming to enrapture even the folks with sub-80 IQs. Great effects, great action, cool robots, and Megan Fox looking like one of those 'Fast and Furious' type chicks. The sort of glossy, shiny, seriously hot, but a little scary when you think of how much varnish is on that thing.

The transformers were great which is all it takes for this movie to succeed. If you're expecting something more, something intelligent, or I don't know what else you might expect from this movie, then you'll probably be disappointed. It is exactly what you think it is, and for me, it kicks ass.

Count me in the minority too, although I grew up watching the cartoon so I'm probably predisposed to liking it.

This is your quintessential 4th of July popcorn flick: car chases, big explosions, and fight scenes... between giant robots.

The movie was awesome, if a little long--they could have easily cut the entire thread with the hacker and the NSA chick and the whole "sector 7" thing, IMO--although I would have liked to have seen more with the Army guys (the scene where they killed the scorpion robot was excellent).

I've got a mental image of the pair of you watching the movie and squee-ing every time a military character barks orders to "bring the rain." Not being a dick or anything, but it just popped up and made me laugh.

    Touche. :D

(To be fair, the target audience is probably 11 year-olds and guys from my generation who watched the original series. I'll concede that if you weren't completely stoked in the first place that there was going to be a TRANSFORMERS MOVIE!! then you could have very well sat there going: WTF?)

This is one of the reasons I'm reluctant to go see the movie. I don't want to be let down by the butchering of a much-loved childhood TV show. The attempted reincarnations of the show over the years have been bad enough.

Put me in that minority as well because I really enjoyed the movie.

The move delivered exactly what I expected: Giant Robots, big explosions and car chases.

I was always a power rangers and transformers fan growing up so I enjoy watching big robot battle scenes, especially when they got a hot chick added into the mix. I wasn't gonna watch it, but seeing as at least half of you who answered here enjoyed it I think I'll go.

Yeah, but have you ever watched The Transformers... on WEED?

Just kidding; if you liked the cartoon then you'll probably love the movie. (The CGI robots alone are worth the price of admission)

    I don't think it's a minority now...

The movie kicked ass in my opinion.

I mean I went in knowing that this movie was made mostly to sell toy's in the end, but it got me hooked.

I have a very limited knowledge of the transformers genre... having watched a handful of the 80's episodes and beast machines (wars?)... This is a very good summer movie in my opinion, the only thing that really bugged me was the all spark plot. Though I loled at the pop machine mountain dew launcher.

If your expecting some deep heart felt inspirational, movie, thats likely to win an emmy for the best plot in history, something that chalenges our views of society today, don't see it.

If you wanna be entertained and are a sucker for a hot girl, giant transforming robots, and a dog with a gimped leg; please do...

Gotta say, this movie was pretty sweet. Other than the shitty acting, the movie delivers all that is promised: insane CG robot fighting. And a hot girl. For those of you into that sorta thing. I'd recommend seeing it, but Die Hard 4 is better, so see that if you haven't.

For what it's worth, one of my best friends is on a whole separate echelon of Transformers dork-dom. He's got basically all of them and this year spent only about $700 at Botcon because there's not a lot of new ones coming out and he's got all the old ones. He's got an autobot symbol tattooed on his leg. And this year's botcon in Providence Rhode Island included a special premiere screening. The hot blonde NSA chick (completely forgot about her after seeing Megan Fox bending over under the hood of the car) was there and Tyrese Gibson too. This was seriously fanboy central. And the crowd loved it. He loved it. I got another friend who's not much of a fanboy but he called me the moment he left the theater because it was just great giant robot battles and he asked if I wanted to see it again.

Really I don't see how your memories of the old toon can be 'sullied' by the big screen makeover. Yes, I suppose Bumblebee isn't a VW Beetle, but a Camaro instead, but it wasn't like the old toy had the VW symbol stamped or authorized on it. But all the autobots are the same and led by Optimus, all the Decepticons are the same and led by Megatron, and they're still looking for the Allspark that landed on earth... I mean if you know the mythos you can guess most of the movie. It's just damn fun to watch.

It's not so much that the memories would be sullied, but can the new movie live up to expectations. So far I've heard more good than bad so I know I'll end up seeing it at some point, but do I blow the cash now or save some and see it on DVD is the question.

It will suck on DVD. I thought the movie was great, but I don't want to see it on DVD. 70% of what made the movie rock was all the action scenes and the awesome cgi. You will loose all of that if only see it on DVD.

So blow the cash now. You won’t be disappointed.

I second Zev, this movie needs to be seen on the big screen. The effects and action sequences will just not be the same, you need it for the eye candy.

As a major fan of TF growing up, sure I had problems with things like Optimus Prime having a mouth and not just that shield, and Megatron looking nothing like Megatron. But there were many references from the original series, similar humor that we remember from then too.

All in all its a great night out at the movies.

Also, while the movie may have been a tad long, the last hour or so of action more than made up for it.
