    Silence.

There is a 20 kg barrel, and something is put into it. Instantly, it is lighter than 20 kg. What was put in it?

A hole was put into the barrel.

What American landmark is always moving backwards?

    The Statue of Liberty.

It is facing out into the sea and because of plate tectonics the Atlantic Sea is constantly getting larger causing the Statue of Liberty to be moving backward.

I am depended on to show the way
    A constant Wanderer
Sometimes I change direction without warning
Yet still I am depended on to show the way
    What am I?

Statue of Liberty would work but my answer was leaning more towards Niagara Falls. The rim is worn down about two-and-a-half feet each year because of the millions of gallons of water that rush over it every minute.

A compass. It is depended on to show the way to travelers and changes direction without warning when you near a magnetic field. Stupid answer but it was the best I could come up with.

I am slim and tall, many find me desirable and appealing. They touch me and I give a false good feeling. Once I shine in splendor, but only once and then no more. For many I am "to die for". What am I?

Not exactly what I had in mind but close enough. It was magnetic north. It wanderers around year by year and every 500 million or so it switches poles completely.

I am thinking a flower. Tulip and orchid comes to mind. Mostly tulip.

    My appearance says my name.
I am come from coast and coast.
Three meals a day and you would know me well.
    What am I?

    Rather easy I know.

Close but no cigar. It is long and slender, and is smoked by a large quantity. For some unknown reason they make me feel good inside. You can only smoke it once and is said to cause lung cancer. Close but no cigar.

I know I am over complicating this one, but I just can't seem to get it. Water? It goes from coast to coast and you drink it everyday.

I was carried into a dark room, and set on fire.
I wept, and then my head was cut off.
    What am I?

    matchstick.

Not water. You forget the first line. and it is coast and coast, not coast to coast.

I am afraid you are wrong, Mr. Paen. Matchsticks do not weep.

This one has me stumped. I am sure if I could find out what "I come from coast and coast" means then I surely could figure it out. I submit to your riddle, care to shed some light on the situation?

    Paen, is it fish?

Now, I'm going to ressurect my own riddle.

    The Ice, The Water
    The Wind, The World
    Has worn me down,
    Has worn me out

I was amongst the highest peaks,
Now i'm only the highest in a country
    I reached into the heavens,
    But can you name me?

I am suggesting a mountain. It is eroded by the elements you stated and some reach past the clouds, signifying the heavens.

Not born, but from a Mother's body drawn,
I hang until half of me is gone.
I sleep in a cave until I grow old,
Then valued for my hardened gold.
    What am I?

    He's got it in one.

To answer Akiel's riddle, I have to say is either hope or will. I've heard someone say that a human's will to survive or protect something precious to them was the strongest thing known to man. The rich hate it because it gives those underneath them the courage to actand is loved by the poor because it is what keeps them going. When there is none you fall into a state of depression that destroys you from the inside out.

    My previous riddle still stands.

    Correct :D.

I'll come up with a new one in the morning.

@Necrule Paen- I keep getting food or life or something.

@Amon Amarth- Amusingly enough, my mind won't let go of 'booger' for your last riddle. It's wrong, I know, but my mind won't let me think about anything else until I mention it. Hopefully I'll get the real answer later.

The most important part of my riddle is the first line. That line is specifically true of the answer. All of your previous attempts ignore it or you are reading it as 'it is shaped like a fish so it is a fish', but that way of thinking is true of any familiar object which would make the line meaningless.

Some see me and want to cry.
Some see me and want to chase.
Some see me and want to eat.
And then some see me and want to shoot for me.
Yet I do not know it.
    What am I?

To your new riddle, I keep thinking of either a radish or an onion. But the who throws it off so I'm not that sure.

What is infinite yet perfectly tiny, the great destroyer yet the original builder, implacable and irresistible?

What is feared yet essential, the end and the begginning, a constant defining truth of existence?
