A while ago, when I was on anothe site, me and a group of people were talking about why JKR named Ginny thus. During this conversation, one of the members told me that she remembered an interview that said JKR liked American movies and, as such, stole the name Ginny from Jenny on Forest Gump. You are safe in assuming that I shed myself of that site rather quickly.

What I want to know is, do you all know of any other commendable HP sites on the web that I can go to? I haven't found one yet, but maybe a small forum that is building up just like DLP was a few years ago.

The closest I can think of is the Reading Consortium. It doesn't seem to be terribly active nowadays though. Aside from that and DLP itself, I haven't seen any other links floating around in author profiles, and the rudimentary search via Google turned up a lot of sites I didn't have the heart to actively read through, but all of them seem reasonably large.

Lulz at someone recommending ReadCon. This is pretty much the only HP forum I post in. There are a few HP LJ communities in which I lurk for fanfic, but I don't really post except for the occasional review. I think there was a thread a while back about other HP sites, but I'm not sure.

It's in keeping with the theme of Arthurian names in the Weasleys.

I noticed that, but I rather thought it was just chance since I couldn't remember anyone that could be shortened to 'Bill'.

Well DLP is the only site I go to on an everyday basis, excluding the games for DLP guilds. Oh and some Yahoo groups.

Members that belong to this site, or used to belong to this site, seem to visit Blank and Blank.
The last one is visited by our former Internet Pirate...and Blank I have no clue what it does. (Except that they stole the initials which belong to the Club of Ariana)

Yahoo, well I guess they are a site, but not forums...still some are pretty fun to be in, even though I rarely post in them.

I sometimes drop in at the Unknowable Room because the people are nice there and leave long reviews. It's both archive and community. But it's mostly a diehard Lily/James and Marauder's Era site, so beware. It's sickening sometimes.

There's the FFA forums as well, they occasionally have an interesting discussion going on about an aspect of canon.

Oh, and mentioning RC on DLP is not allowed, as decreed by Lord Ravenclaw. It counts as advertising, which is not allowed.

Er, my bad, I'll edit it out right away. I'm just glad I didn't post the link.

Edit: I think the Edit option expired.

Wait by RC did you mean the RC Andromalius mentioned or the RC I did?

Or is it just a universal law here, don't plug a site...grounds for banning, type thing?

Well edited, just to be safe.

Thisperson: they are the same site, just two different names for it.

And it appears to be a universal law:

But if suggesting another forum can be counted as advertising, how do anyone reply to this thread?

I searched in this forum and looked around ReadCon- from what I understand, all Raven wanted was for people to stop advertising RC in intro threads, not a complete and utter embargo on the name. I've seen a few people say it, and none of them were banned. I could be completly wrong, and if I am please correct me, but that's what I understand of the situation. And a few people have links to AFC in their sigs, and that's advertising, isn't it?

Since RC was more often than not referred to as the "site to go to if you 1)have a thin skin 2)fail at life 3)are a fag" in those intro threads, I would hardly call that advertising.

And Taure's posts are so dripping with sarcasm that we'll soon need a mop.

I second Kyp's recommendation. The Unknowable Room is a small community I used to go to, I remember a couple of good threads back then, especially fanfiction-wise. Including that Ginny one, which I flooded with rants. But yeah, it's sometimes a tad fangirlish.

DarkLordPotter is really the only forum I visit for Harry Potter, apart from a few others that I trolled awhile ago. It's really the only forum I've ever signed up for in my life. Everything after came as a result of being on this forum and being asked to join the little break-away sites like RC and that Naruto one, ADD.

Same for me, this is the only HP forum that I am signed up for, but I do browse ff.net and ffa.net on occasion. Ficwad is good too.

Why shouldn't you be a member of Alpha Fight Club?
    The copied our AFC, bastards.

Alright, I honestly didn't care in the least, I just see my brother talking to these retards on others sites for the lulz that I left months ago. I wanted to know if anywhere else on the web their was a semblance of at least par I.Q. level intellect. I guess, with these posts, their isn't.

Technically, The Ariana Fan Club came after the Alpha Fight Club, who somewhere along the line, decided to steal our abandoned Alpha Fight Club title.

What an elite group, thar. Using a title the IRCHoles didnt want anymore.
