I get the feeling that Voldemort isn't, at this moment, the main antagonist of the story. It seems more like Harry's antagonist is his brother and family, of which he struggles against to break free, and of which Voldemort is next down the line.

I actually joined up her yahoogroup to read chapter 36 and 37.

I actually had a 'what the fuck' moment, I thought a Baisilik's gaze was enough to kill...yet all Harry did was petrify.

Maybe it was the glasses or something?

Well thought the new chapters were definitely good.

Stabbing Voldemort seemed a bit unrealistic though, I mean the blade was invisible and all but it just seemed unlikely to me.

I guess I expected him to be able to detect body heat, or hear the sound the sword made as it moved in the air.

Well, it could be that Harry was wearing glasses, or that he wasn't in his animagus form. I hadn't thought of that idea.

It probably comes from D&D games. Basilisks in those games, such as one of my favourites Heroes of the Might and Magic III have the ability to turn those they attack into stone. Further "support" for the idea of turning someone to stone through the gaze is that the word "petrify" is used to describe the basilisk stare, and petrify stems from the Latin word for stone, pietra. Wood that has been turned to stone after millions of years due to pressure is called petrified wood. I found a particularly beautiful piece of petrified wood known as jet in France.

Would have been more fun for Harry's animagus form to be the "extinct" species of basilisk, the one whhich burns everything in its path to cinders. The world is your bonfire!

I think the reason James was petrified and not killed was because Harry was in his human form, not his animagus form. Thus the basilisk gaze wasn't at full power.

    Edit:
On her YahooGroup she explains the reason for the petrification:

This fic really got me going in a positive way. It reminds me heavily of JK's style of writing with a slightly darker twist which I liked immensely. This is perhaps the only version of the old cliche that I like. Congrats.

Very solid writing, is followed by a well planned out story, which holds interesting concepts and doesn't display an incredibly, over the top, powerful Harry. The romance is good, though I'm not a huge fan over H/Hr actually preferring H/G (flame me if you want) to it. But whatever.

Good story, eagerly awaiting update. 4/5 only because of pairing.

Well, to each his own. I myself am not totally opposed to H/G--I don't think that she's a slut, and it's kind of stupid to think that most, if not all women will not date several men in the span of a few years, and that the ultimate culmination of such practices has to be sex. Simply, just because Ginny dated several men (as most teenagers will), doesn't mean that she's slept with them. It also doesn't mean that she didn't, so we'll interpret that as we see fit.

Moving on...the story really is good, and I'm glad that it was moved out of the Trash Bin. It's clear, as Sanctimonius said, that the author has planned out the plot very thouroughly ahead of time. And I'd like to see where it goes, especially along the Harry/Hermione lines.

The unbeta'ed chapters 35 and 36 are easily spotted but where's 37 hiding? The way of communication used on yahoo groups are easily one of the worst if the community is remotely popular.

37 is not posted, beta'd or otherwise, yet. If you take 5 seconds and join the Yahoogroup(like I did), you'll see that.

MC, we have already established that just about everyone here is lazy as shit. Did you not get the memo?

EDIT: Shit, I was clearly to lazy to send that one out. My bad.

Its been updated on the yahoo site. This fic is pretty good as far as twin fics go. It has a different take on the laws a little bit I think.

I like this story. I used to just read this because I had nothing better to do, but the past couple of chapters have really interested me and I now look forward to new chapters. The pairing in this fic dosen't bother me because I sort of like H/Hr. I'm just glad it isn't H/G. The only thing I don't like about this fic is the way everybody ignores Harry. I just find it very odd that almost everybody forgets about him and just brushes everything he says off.
Still if you can get past this odd behavior this is a very decent story.

Meh, she has way too much filler crap and not enough action. The story is starting to bore me.

I actually happen to think the story has picked up in pace as of late. I happen to like the story and am looking forward to finding out where she is going with this tale.
