Another thing that pisses me off enough to make me close a fic immediately is Harry suddenly finding out he has people guarding him and has a discussion with one of them and then they always have to leave, it is always the end of their shift about 2 minutes after Harry discovers them.

Hogwarts later years are just like high school. You all went to high school right? All the girls are hot or at the very least pretty, with only a few exceptions. It actually kind of pisses me off when an author acts as if their are only three gorgeous women in Hogwarts at a time.

 

Uh uh man, a few hot girls, mostly ok looking ones, and a fair few fugly ones as well.

 

Your high school apparently sucks ! If you ignore the fatties, a majority of my class is hotties. As I'm in all AP classes, I'm pretty much in classes with hotties and a few pretty but plain girls.

Or maybe I just have low standards...

I've got a question though, how does a witch get fat? Is there no magic to help lean oneself out? A metabolism boosting spell perhaps? Hmm...

 

Genetics can lead to a larger size. Molly is, if I remember correctly, the only really large witch mentioned, and she is probably written thus to give the impression of the classic housewife. There are probably spells and potions that would get you thin, but she would, in my opinion, probably not be overly bothered with her appearance once she got married.

 

That and she popped out 7 kids.

To get somewhat back on topic with my post, I stopped reading a fic once because the first letter of the first word wasn't capitalized.

I might have explained it wrong. My problem is when every girl in Hogwarts is suddenly a fox, usually beginning a harem!Harry story or a many!Harry story. It just pisses me off when every girl has sparkling, full lips, bright blue eyes, and hair that falls like silk down their back. I don't mind it a bit when the character Harry is pairing with is described as one; I don't want him with some ugly bitch, but if Ron, Neville, Dean, Seamus, and the rest of the Gryffindor boys all show up with the most curvalicious character that has never even been mentioned more then in passing in the books, it pisses me off.

I'm all for Harry/fem!Blaise, Harry/Daphne, and all the other obscure pairings, but it gets lame when an author goes overboard with it and we are at the Pokegirls' version of Hogwarts now instead of Rowling's.

 

That provoked an interesting, yet at the same time, disturbing mental image. Pikachu at Hogwarts. You know that somewhere on ff.net, there's a badly written fanfiction of a Pokemon/Harry Potter crossover.

I can't read a story if all the author talks about is Harry's cool new ipod and other electronics. Not to mention that they actually work at Hogwarts because of some convenient little spell Weasley Sr. came up with.

Another thing that irks me is when the author feels they have to pair all of the characters off - each one gets their own Happily Ever After(TM) ending.

 

This thread is pretty much just a spin off of the bad cliches/plot devices thread(s) we have on the site. If you agree, whatever admin sees this, could you transfer this over to the other thread?

 

I do believe I read one a while ago. Harry found Pikachu in the Forbidden Forest and it killed Snape and Malfoy.
