In response to my opinion that the U.S. has a hegemony in the world (which honestly is more fact than opinion...), Mordecai neg-repped for the reason that:

I actually docked quite alot of you because most of you have had it coming for quite sometime. There's a difference between neg repping a shithead, and then collectively doing it without even bothering to include a decent reason, which we've always been against. Doing it just to do it or for something other then the post the rep is assigned to will make you look like an ass, and I'm not going to waste my time playing he said she said, when I can clearly see folks ganging up on someone for no obvious reason. Everyone's allowed to have an opinion. If it sucks, handle them the way DLPers do and not in stupid little rep sessions.

I do not personally care if you have problems with each other. My problem is the abuse of the stupid system. Argue with them, point out he's an idiot, run him off the site if need be, but don't set bad examples by abusing the system, I know you guys better then that.

I only ever do this when the comment in the neg rep is along the lines of "faggot" (though that one seems to be Darius' prefered one, not yours) and "Scottish anything" (A very common one. You get on at me for not liking America, but really, anytime you insult me you always bring in my being Scottish...). Give a legitimate comment with your neg rep and I accept it.

Try reading the full statement. Its sarcasm. Something you're usually fairly well aware of. It implies that they aren't different from anyone else, and thus shouldn't be praised for doing something non-jews don't get praised for.

The U.S. doesn't have to be universally adored to have a hegemony. Think economically for a moment. We trade with the U.S. out of our own choice, as does the rest of the world, and through this own choice we have become dependent on the U.S. - not an altogether bad thing, as it means a higher standard of living for us. But the mere fact that the world economy is so dependant on the U.S. proves they have a hegemony.

Even if the power of the U.S. is decreasing due to the rise of China, expensive wars and domestic economic mismanagement by the current administration, it cannot be denied that they can still wtfpwn pretty much anyone on the planet.

As for this...

History is written by the winners. Had the U.S. failed, then yes, he'd be a traitor. But the U.S. won, so he's a freedom fighter and the (or rather, a) father of a nation.
