    Title: Goodkind meets JK Rowling
    Author: Alice
    Rating: M
    Genre: Oneshot Parody
    DLP Category: Humor/Parody
    Pairing: No one
    Status: Complete
Summary: [A parody piece showcasing the worst of Terry Goodkind's writing style... Have to have read some of Goodkinds work for a lot of the jokes in it to be understood.
    Link: linky here

I ran into this... yeah ...it's short... but it's freaking hilarious if you have read some of The terry Goodkind's "work". It showcases Goodkind's style and temperament perfectly.

Plus you just know that a story that starts out.
    can't be bad.

Eh, seemed too short and lacked humor.

Although the story has decent grammar, it could have utilized misuse of grammar for better effect. (would have made me chuckle at least [most noble < most noblest])

As it is, I don't think this deserves anything more than a 2/5

Grammar, yet has no purpose whatsoever, fails at the category.

You have read or been exposed to Terry Goodkind's stuff, right? The fic is pretty much there to mock his style and the themes he works with.

The thing about Goodkind's works is that the first 3/4 of one of his books is pointless. The only part that is worth reading is the end. But I've only read 2 1/2 books by him so I'm not sure if this lasts throughout the whole series.

As for the little one-shot...I basically summarizes the first half of the second book.

The only thing it lacks is him kicking an 8 year old girl in the face, shattering her jaw, and cutting off her tongue.

As with Goodkind's own work, I find this horridly lacking in anything to catch my attention.

    1/5.

It was a crack fic, more than anything else. The drama was ridiculous.

For itself, I give it a 1/5. If this is, however, an accurate portrayal of Goodkind's writing, a 3/5 because it did what the author intended for it to do.

I don't believe it's honestly his writing. This thing does take small concepts from Goodkind's books and twists them idiotically, but that's about it.

It was okay...not all that funny, and too short.

Small concepts? Goodkind's first couple books were moderately entertaining... but he basically started going batshit insane gradually. Currently he's out on the far side of pluto on the wacky meter.

Try this on for size...evil pacifists.

    Here's a little exerpt.

" A plump, curly-haired woman took a step out from the others. Her round face was red with anger as she screamed. "Stop the hate! No war! Stop the hate! No war!"
"Move or die!" Richard yelled as he picked up speed.
The red-faced woman shook her fleshy fist at Richard and his men, leading an angry chant. "Murderers! Murderers! Murderers!"
On his way past her, gritting his teeth as he screamed with the fury of the attack begun, Richard took a powerful swing, lopping off the woman's head and upraised arm. Strings of blood and gore splashed across the faces behind her even as some still chanted their empty words. The head and loose arm tumbled through the crowd. A man made the mistake of reaching for Richard's weapon, and took the full weight of a charging thrust.
Men behind Richard hit the line of evil's guardians with unrestrained violence. People armed only with their hatred for moral clarity fell bloodied, terribly injured, and dead. The line of people collapsed before the merciless charge. Some of the people, screaming their contempt, used their fists to attack Richard's men. They were met with swift and deadly steel."

So yeah, he and his forces charge and slaughter unarmed pacifists...the people they were trying to defend. Richard, the hero of the series, goes out and slaughters unarmed pacifists wholesale because they won't take up arms to help him defend their society... and the author claims he's right for doing so because Richard has MORAL CLARITY.

    So... yeah... plenty wacko

The only book Goodkind wrote that might be worth reading is Wizard's First Rule. The books from The Stone of Tears on have degenarated into boring lectures. That's what happens when you try to write a series where every book centres on a fucking moral. Or when you try to be Ayn Rand without having the littlest fraction of her genius.

This fails. But not as hard as the Goodkind-meets-Richard-Morgan one. I never thought someone would dare to do this to fucking Takeshi Kovacs.
