It does sound like he's trying his best to inflate himself. It's certainly not natural sounding to me. Though, some of the things he lists are random enough it gives me pause...

The guy acts way too immature to be 30+. I hope I still don't act the way I do twelve years from now.

Or it might be a 50 year old retard. You never know.

Hell, I wonder how he got or whether he even has a PhD.

I hate a gay person (Giovanni). Therefore, DLP is anti-homosexual. This guy sounds like a Daily Kos poster.

I don't doubt the guy's bio, though I'm not terribly impressed by it. (I do wonder, though, where he's going to find work in Antarctica in microprocessor design). The author is likely slogging through an assistant professorship in some middling engineering university with a consultancy on the side. He seems to use weasel qualifiers on much of his bio: "...classes that I've taught in" (i.e., counts when, as a TA, he gave a lecture for a professor or when he gave a guest lecture as part of interviewing for a teaching position, etc.); "...start-ups participated in" (he consulted briefly for them or bought stock in an IPO?).

I'm proof positive that one can be 30+ with Ph.D. and not be widely regarded as being even semi-mature or having half a clue. (But then mine is in theoretical physics, so I have an excuse for being a bit... off). Frankly, having done the univ. teaching gig and left it, screaming, for applied research, I'm less than impressed by those who cite how many different classes they've taught or dealing with peer review for an IEEE Transactions article as the height of scholarship. (Try Nature if you want brutality, pal)....

Funny thing is that a few of the reviewers supporting him in his stance on DLP are former members of the forums. :p What are the chances that the writer of this story is a banned or former member that got his ass flamed?

DLP doesn't care. DLP doesn't care about you. DLP cares about the lulz. This try hard is lulz.

PhD, yup and I am a millionaire.

Oh and DLP hates slash. Nothing against homosexuals as long as they keep their shit to themselves.

    And I love you too.

If he's actually gone through the peer review process for those journals (as he claims) then he should be better at handling criticsm. He isn't.

Man, that guy's very first AN annoys me greatly:

Who the hell does he think he is? What's with the holier-than-thou-attitude? Just because I'm (probably) half his age and most certainly do not have a Ph.D., doesn't mean I can't know some things better than he does.

Besides, who lists the number of languages they are fluent/can 'get around' in? Talk about ego...
On that note, I'm fluent in three languages, but you don't hear me saying only people who can equal that can criticize me... (the fact that I don't write is irrelevant :p )

Yeah, he has a bit of a problem when it comes to realising he's not the expert in everything.

He seems to think that just because he has a PhD (bearing in mind that PhDs are research-based and so lead to a very highly specialized knowledge base) in microchips, he is suddenly qualified to be an expert in everything you can think of. In short, he appears to think that he has a PhD not in micro technology, but in everything.

And as someone else has said, his PhD writing abilities say nothing of his fiction-writing abilities. Writing fiction and writing a scientific paper are two massively different things. I'd even go so far as to say that having so much experience and being so indoctrinated in the way he has to write for his PhD would hinder, not help, his fiction writing abilities, as PhD work is highly precise and specialised, whereas literature deals in symbolism, vagueness and metaphor.

I'm too busy wallowing in my ignorance to give a shit.

So we're the KKK of the Fanfiction Realm now? That's what this always seems to equate to. People getting bitchy over a site they don't have to visit that harangues fanfiction stories and does what no one else does: review.

I wish people had this much energy and commitment to dealing with the fact that they consign their country and their 49% minority to a retarded President and his 51% majority (and even less in 2000) for eight years and then cry when he ruins their shit, as if the entire process didn't reek of imbecility from the beginning. They repeat this stupid process over and over while the people at the top roll their eyes and collect their paychecks.

Good job asshole with a PhD. You're helping America one shitty chapter that gets ten reviews and endless criticism at a time. How about you find a way to get to Antarctica and you stay the fuck there.

At least at the end of the day, half of our members can't vote due to lobotomies and living in Australia, which go hand in hand mentally. God. Election season always makes me wonder.

We haven't gone out of our way to make many friends, and frankly, I don't see much need.

    It's Harry Potter.

Just ignore this guy. If they want a little flamewar, they can come here.

Let the guy talk, who cares? If he decides that an entire community has the exact same opinion about everything, who cares? It's obvious that he's begging for attention.

Why should DLP care for his gathering of fangirls? Anyone that uses his brain will be able to form his/her own opinion, and not follow his blindly. Now I'd suggest to just ignore this rubbish and continue with our lives:)

    P.S.

Please ignore any grammar mistakes for once.

I agree. We should just ignore him, though I doubt he will just ignore us. He'll wait another couple of months when his reviews are down to spark some more flamism with us, and people will congregate to, not his story, his A/Ns.

I feel it necessary to point out that more than half his reviews focus not on his story, but rather on his appearent dislike of us, and/or our members responses. As much as I hate to say it, will everyone stop. reviewing. his. fucking. story!

Some of you make good points, some of you make decent suggestions, but the vast majority of the people trying to 'defend' the site are making it look like his complaints and insinuations are validated. He decided to target LR, Let the commander in chief deal with the guy however he likes, but please, Stop the reviews. perhaps his account will die a natural death.

he is a perfect example why people who can write good science, don't necessarily write good fiction (probably the biggest reason why i don't write, you'd probably flame me off the site because everything i try to do reads like a law paper :p )

Reminds me of Vorlon, personally. Vorlon could write better, though.
Meh. We have several bi-sexual members, female and male alike. They wouldn't visit as much as they do if we were truly anti-homosexual. We also have a decent number of Jews, I believe. [IMG]

I guess all the offhanded jokes we make, coupled with words like 'nigger' and 'faggot' tend to make others think that way.

    Whatever.
