Apparently, they think it deserves a full two movies, though I can't imagine where in the hell they're going to cut it off. They'll probably do it, just for the extra box office money.

I can imagine the protest that will go off if it is revealed that Harry gets a Christ-like death in the final movie. That is, assuming the crazies don't already know that.

 

And yet each of the Lord of the Rings books only deserves a single movie. And yet OoTP deserves only a single movie. I think, by the time the seventh movie comes around, enough will be lost from OoTP and HBP that there won't be enough to make two decent movies out of DH.

 

Stupid move. 7 books, but 8 movies? Why is Rowling letting them do this? Does she have any say in how they film or split up the movies at all?

 

There isn't enough content in DH for two movies. Especially since they've left so much out of the rest of them.

 

They're probably just trying to milk the series for all its worth.

Maybe they'll pull one on Rowling and have a completely alternate ending? *wishful thinking*

I guess they might try leaving out less content this time round. I wouldn't mind if they made two LotR movies per book - but HP simply doesn't have enough content.

 

They need to make the HP movies longer not make two movies out of it.

 

Well the way to make the movie shorter is fairly simple... don't spend a third of it camping in the damn woods. Seriously if they just use a 5 minute scene so that people get the idea that they are running amok in the woods they take care of almost a third of it.

 

Frankly I'm shocked and appalled.

Shocked and appalled that noone has yet said "Great two movies... DH was so bad that they decided to break it into two movies for fear of making the audience spontaneously vomit from an overload of fail."

I echo previous comments though... they dropped too much from the books to make the stories of the movies worthwhile.

Well, maybe if they hadn't cut so much from the first 5, they wouldn't have to split 7 up. But that's just a knee-jerk reaction from reading the article linked. Further looking says that it's still speculation.

Honestly, I really don't have a desire see the 6th or 7th Movies Sadly, I'll see them anyway, and sadly buy them on DVD to complete the collection. My horrible opinion thinks they were hardly worth the time. Then again, I've read better fanfic in place of Book 6 and 7. But that's me.

 

Woohoo, now I can pay twice as much to be disappointed.

Another interesting rumour is that Spielberg might be directing it.

 

I heard they were trying to get Spielberg too. Might make it epic and if the rumours of HBP being a romantic comedy are true, it will look even better if Spielberg directs it

 

As far as iam concerned there's not enough (decent) content in book 7 for 1 movie never mind 2.

 

That's a very bad decission indeed. The plot must stay complete and whole, if they want to entertain the audience. I think some of the scenes will work rather well on screen, but not if they split the movie in half. This is hopefully just a stupid and pointless rumour. One can always hope.

 

All you guys know how do is complain.

If they cut it really short, the board will be full of whiners complaining that things were taking out. Now that they want to create two movies, to leave everything in, we still have whiners.

I mean... damn.

Now, if they cut a two and a half hour long movie in half, there will be much to complain about, and i'll understand your whining. But if they have two movies each longer than an hour and a half, I see nothing to complain about.

I'm sorry, but DH hallows will suck greatly if it is reduced as much as OOTP was.

I support this idea if we don't get the choppy feel of GOF and OOTP and get two movies that flow together nicely.

There is plenty of content in DH to create two movies, if they flesh everything out like they should have done in every movie since the first.

Granted, there doesn't seem to be enough material, but lets wait 'til it actually comes out before we complain.

I think the real problem is that they decided to split the worst out of all seven books like it was something special, but didn't decide to split the fifth movie- which they raped of content- or any of the Lord of the Rings movies (I was sadly disappointed when the 'Return to the Shire' scene wasn't in the Director's Cut of the final movie)

 

I think they should donate the profits from the second of the two films to charity, since by all rights there should have only been one film in the first place.
