    Yeah, this test is helluva lame. Four choices for each question, and each one OBVIOUSLY corresponds to one of the four houses.

    Questions are waaay too obvious.
    Too boring.
    Not worth my time.
    Even worse than the one in the official site...

    Strangely, so am I. Got 61 points, and I picked the "Find Some Bait to Distract the Dog" and "Hah! The Bait Worked!" Combo.

    I also picked scientist all three times, yet somehow, I'm a 'puff.

    Go Badgers!

    Puff,
    it says I encompass to may conflicting qualities to be in the other houses.

    Was it just me or were transfiguration and charms missing off the list of classes to excell in?

    Here's an idea. Why don't we collate every Hogwarts Sorting Test in this thread, then rate them on how much they suck?

    They all suck. Or can you name one that doesn't?

    You might note that my scale was based on how much they sucked, rather than how good they are.

    5/5 being just passable, 0/5 being worthy of eternal damnation.

    Meh. Most of them would be around 0 or 1.

    Maybe someone could create a DLP sorting test that's a bit more subtle, no?

    Q. You read a Harry/Ginny fic. What do you do?

    a) Punch your computer screen in frustration.
    b) Send a scathing review to the author.
    c) Click that red "x".
    d) Masturbate.

    Q. How much of a chapter should be devoted to describing the hero's clothing?

    1) No more than necessary to make sure that he's dressed appropriately, generally one-three sentences. Or none.

    2) No more than one long paragraph, detailing colors and fabrics.

    3) Half the page, so everyone can see that he's really a Goth Angel from Hell, and let them admire his tattoos and piercings.

    4) One full day at Diagon Alley, hitting at least three clothiers for several long paragraphs each, one leather shop (where he buys dragon leather boots,) a trunk shop, and a side trip to Borgin and Burkes' where he'll beat up Borgin (who must be a masochist, since he never takes precautions against that sort of stuff.)

    Your Score: Hufflepuff! You've got 64 House Points!

    Head of House: Professor Sprout

    House Animal: The Badger

    My test tracked 1 variable

    How you compared to other people your age and gender:
    You scored higher than 99% on House Points

    I sorta expected this...

    A - Gryffindor. Quick to act, rash, diving into the problem without any thought.
    B - Ravenclaw. It takes intelligence and eloquence to write a good scathing review.
    C - Slytherin. An efficient and direct solution to the problem.
    D - Hufflepuff. Quite.

    I reckon we could make a good test out of this.

    If we are serious about making a DLP Sorting Hat test, we should consider several things:

    1. There needs to be more than four answers to each question, perhaps 6 is a good number, with each answer scoring points towards each house, the two extra answers being allocated to one of the big two (Slytherin and Gryffindor) in question 1, the little two (Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff) in question 2, a mixture in question 3 etc etc

    2. We need to keep the questions somewhat HP related, but they should be more personality questions rather than:

    "Who do you find attractive?"

    A) A girl/boy who can stand next to me in a fight;
    B) Someone who is intelligent enough to help me in my academic pursuit;
    C) Someone who will stick by me no matter what;
    D) Someone whose connections will help my ascension to the circles of power;

    Perhaps we can fabricate scenarios, based upon what we have seen in stories and ask the test taker what choice they would take. Again, it needs to be less than obvious.

    3. We need to have a decent number of questions, say 50-60, divided into categories, so that we don't have twisted results based on someone who is Slytherin, but has some intelligent traits.

    4. We need to have someone who can actually do the test on one of those sites. I confess to having no idea whatsoever as to how they are done.

    Are you ladies and gents interested, or should I scrap my hope from the beginning?
