Look at the name, it should be obvious.
It wasn't on FF.net, I can't remember exactly where it was, but it might have been one of those livejournal things.

I'm sure you don't, but who is to say the Time Lords didn't?

The smell of balls and musky asshole filled the TARDIS as The Doctor pounded ..... I wil let you imagine further happenings.

Wow just wow, some people really are pathetic.

    ;) Harry doesn't, either.

This is why I've never gotten involved in Doctor Who fandom.

On the note of Era of Hogwarts, Heir of the Silvertongue was great, but it's not an FFnet anymore.

Harry Potter & The Power Of Hogwarts

I'm not sure if this is forgotten, or even read, by anyone at DLP but it's one of the first Harry Potter fanfics I read, and the story that turned me on to Honks.

By now a lot of the originality is lost, but when I first read it I thought it was the poop and the pee. I could tell you the highlights, but it would ruin the story for those that want to read it.

    It was fucking phat though.

Still, I never read it's sequel--which is still in progress and was updated to Chapter 11 December 30th if I'm not mistaken.

This fic is very very very old. Describes Sirius rescuing Harry from the Dursleys. There's a lot of action (it's not just fluff) and Peter is a credible villain.

Harry Potter and the Marcello School by Kjkit
    Link: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1779719/1/

Old, nice to read. Not epic, but nice when you're bored, and Harry is pretty powerful. Complete.

In Blood Only by E.M. Snape
    Link: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2027554/1/

This is the only good Severitus in Harry Potter fandom. Complete too.

    Exile by Easleyweasley
    Link: http://www.fictionalley.org/authors/easleyweasley/E01.html

This fic depicts Harry going to Azkaban, and it shows how his canon personality would react. Probably the second-best Azkaban!Harry fic (to Ruskbyte's fic) in all the fandom. Complete.

The Other Side of Hell by Master Slytherin
    Link: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2508076/1/

This fic is a very good example of the standard Independent!Harry. It gets bogged down a bit in Hogwarts, and the ending is weak (Power of Love), but the battle scenes are very good and the writing is decent. Complete (notice a pattern?)

Somehow...I'm not surprised. I mean aren't you the one who posted about how great Drakey-poo is? And who seems to have confused Book Five with excessivelyperky's The Birthday Present ...Here's a hint--The Birthday present was fanfiction!

Pardon me if I take your recommendations of Severus and Hermione with more than a little hesitation...

Truthfully, I have seen no mention of Secret of the Male Veela in quite a while. It was a first for its kind, and far better than its predecessors. Tis a shame it was abandoned.

This is the only Hogwarts!Seiged story I have ever read. Never quite sure if there were more, but this one was certainly good, IMO. And no, I'm not saying the story is excellent but forgotten, rather the entire concept was great but forgotten.

All of the Master Eldryan stories, sadly.

I still miss those. I don't know if it's because they were one of the first I read or because they were really that awesome, but I wish I could read them again.

That's the whole point of threads like this--to remind newcomers of all the great fics they may have missed by coming to the fandom so late.

I'll have to let someone else explain the whole Master Eldryan saga though, as I managed to come to the fandom too late for those myself and never had the pleasure of reading them...

    Returning to the topic:

It's been awhile since I heard any mention of Beautiful Poison by Random1337 which was one of the first Harry\Pansy fics I can remember reading. Granted some of that might be due to the fic having been completed, but still...

Someone already mentioned feanor's Love and Betrayal, but somehow managed to forget the wonderful Ashes in Our Mouths! The last mention of it here was in a post nonjon made regarding NOFP...

I'm sure I'm not the only one waiting patiently for IP82 to update...well just about anything really...

There are others but I'm not too certain how well they fit the site so I'll not list those.

Might have been before your time I think I vaguely remember him and I've been in fanfiction since the second book came out.

I didn't think the fanfiction started until after the third or fourth book.

I like the idea of this thread a lot. Both for "Forgotten Fics" that have been abandoned, as well as those that are completed and just rarely recommended anymore.

One author whose fics I still re-read every once in a while is sloth. His series is still a classic to me. Dalyon's been mentioned but both of his fics are fantastic starts long since abandoned.

A couple of my favorite sort of Independent!Harry style stories that don't come up much are Oriens Bennu's Rising of the Bennu. Very standard Indy!Harry start. Cliched by today's measure, but I was eager for it at the time. Harry/Ginny sucks as a pairing more often than not, but LordDragon73's Dance of the Warrior is another great start left hanging. Grand griffon wrote a decent first fic and started a pretty interesting sequel but it seems gone.

I'm sure there's more I'll think of. And by the way folks, let's try and make it a habit of ALWAYS INCLUDING LINKS when mentioning a fic here. Most people are good about this, but some of you aren't. Try harder.
