I've always wondered what the letter from Dumbledore to Petunia said. It's been a while since i've read the books, so forgive me if it is in them but i can't remember it. I mainly think about this but if Dumbledore sent them a letter something (in his round about way) like "Your nephew, Harry just vanquished the most powerful dark lord in a century. Unfortunately, he has taken steps to be much harder to kill and will likely return. Harry is our only hope for the future, and as such he needs to be protected. If you accept him into your home there will be magic that protects him and you from magical danger. With Regards, Dumbledore (titles, etc.)" And they still mistreated him.

    Petunia,

Keep Harry and treat him as a surrogate son. Do not let him leave, otherwise I'll tell the neighbors about the dildos in your sock drawer.

    kthnx bye,

    Albie.

P.S. It's okay if you treat him like a slave. I'm too busy jacking off while thinking about Brad Pitt to care.

If it isn't mentioned in the books or in an interview, we will never know.

What is up with all these stupid topics...pointless...obviously you wanna discuss them so I need not question further...but obviously he probably manipulated the Dursleys into doing it. They would of never taken in Harry otherwise.

okay obviously this is a pointless topic where we will never know what Dumbledore said to petunia in the letter. So please people stop giving off stupid letters of your own depicting what he said.

You know, normally I'd take offense to a shot taken at one of the only things of mine that I have written. But meh, I am am suffering from a stomach virus at the moment and all I feel like doing is providing a link to what I wrote. Rather than annoying you further and copy/paste what I wrote.

Get a life. Not everyone is going to agree with you about what is and is not funny. However, since we here at DPL think that a gay Dumbledore is one part hilarious mixed with one part creepy, we're gonna make fun of it.

You're like a concerned mother. Can't stand that someone is getting chuckles out of something a little bit unsavory. I'll repeat again: Get a life.

Just a little note that you should take to heart: If you think that this is offending, you'll want to leave right now. There are things on this site that will make your pussy eyes melt. If you are gonna bitch and complain about a little fucking thread, GTFO.

Dam dude....You talk about me needing to get a life when you yourself are defending a pointless thread like this as if it was your last hope to humanity....I think sir,you need to get a life.

And I never said this was offending fool,I said it was stupid and pointless. I'm out of here, don't feel like getting banned for arguing anymore with you.

So because you think the thread is stupid and pointless, we should stop posting? Is this the meat of your argument?

Yep, it is. You're a fucking idiot.

Sword of Elisha, you joined a few days ago, and yet you are already dictating what is and isn't good to have on the forums, here's a quick idea for you to consider, STFU until you have actually contributed to the community enough that your opinion might matter.

    .....

It doesn't matter if you joined 26 days ago, so what I was lazy and only checked the month, your contribution to the forum has been nil. You're welcome to give your opinion on stories, subjects etc. but don't try and criticize the forum until you have been on it enough to know what you are criticizing.

And you call this 'not dictating'? ^

No One can argue that Dumbledore wasn't criminally negligent in his placement of Harry. Assuming that the "family blood protections" were dependent on Petunia *willingly* taking Harry, with no coercion, Dumbledore had been at Hogwarts for Generations - surely he's seen what kind of horrors can happen within a family? He planted Figg there as an observer. Was she simply blind and foolish, or were her reports ignored? If Dumbledore had arranged for a wizarding attorney to drop in several times a year, or had (firmly) suggested regular visits to a mediwizard, the abuse might never have had a chance to get out of hand.

I wonder: Do you suppose JKR actually wrote a letter (not necessarily for inclusion in the books, just for background,) and simply hasn't dug it out of her notes yet?

just a thought, but what if Dumbles wasn't criminally negligent? No one knows what the Potter's will said, so his actions could have very well been stipulations of said will- which he might have explained in the letter to the Dursleys. No where does it say that Lily completely gave up hope on her sister, and frankly, NO ONE could've predicted how they would treat Harry. Less love? Maybe. Abuse? Not based on how they treat Dudley.

Ummm... Dumbledore placed Harry in the Muggle world with no respect for Muggle law - which would have mandated a placement assessment At The Very Least, and periodic visits from the Brit equivalent of Family Services, as well.
