Dumbledore vs Tom in the Dept of Mysteries

Harry talking down Riddle at the end, even though the eventual ending sucked (honestly, rebounding curse again??)

Harry's patronus in the third year

Harry walking to his death in the forest

Neville standing upto Tom with "It'll be a cold day in hell when I join you...Dumbledores Army!!"

Harry preparing a burial for Dobby

    "Lord Voldemort had risen again"

    3) Dumbledore vs. Voldemort in MoM. (OotP)

    4) Priori Incantatem (the whole chapter). (GoF)

    5) Voldemort's rebirth and reunion with Death Eaters. (GoF)

    6) Grindelwald backtalking Voldemort in Numengard. (DH)

    7) Fred and George's departure from Hogwarts. (OotP)

8 ) Neville standing up against Voldemort and just plain kicking ass. (DH)

    9) Harry using the Crutiatus Curse for the first time. (OotP)

The whole scene of Harry just walking to his death is extremely evocative, and the shades of the dead coming back... it was the best scene in the overall series in my opinion, even if the fact that Harry couldn't be sure that his death would work was very nicely masked. I like a central character with balls, and that act showed just how far courage can go. Hats off to Jo, she occasionally even deserves it. Harry turning the resurrection stone is the best moment in the entire series for me.

Voldemort and Dumbledore duelling... I love action, what can I say? Ties for the second place, with the scene of Harry stabbing the Basilisk.

Nagini, making its way out of the old woman's body, Harry facing it in a dark room... Jo didn't take advantage of this scene, the sheer horror of it. The Inferi don't even compare to this (I hate snakes, so I may be biased). This scene chilled me. Gets third place.

Vodemort's rebirth. Not as much as the duel later, but a snake-eyed man rising out of the steaming cauldron, the hissing voice and the red eyes. The cloaked and masked Death Eaters apparating in, and most of all the speech.
The Dark Lord returning to his unfaithful. "The stench of betrayal is upon the air" (or something like that). Fourth prize.

Harry's Patronus in his third year. PoA was the first HP I read, and that scene is pretty much the reason I'm here posting this. I didn't even know wth HP was about before that. The Time-Turner was something I really didn't expect, and then I was rooting for James to come back. The scene blew me away. Fifth prize, and a special place for me.

Moment of shame: Harry getting his nose broken. By Malfoy. Sometimes I wonder wth I like fanfiction more than canon, and then I remember HBP.

If I didn't know better, I'd say you were being sarcastic! ;)
Anyway, my number one all time favorite scene is...

When Dumbledore is all badass in the DoM against Voldemort. Yup... That's it...

Probably the graveyard scene in GoF. You know, when Voldemort was still a credible villain.

    1. Favorite scene has to be Harry walking to his death. In terms of courage I haven't seen a character in any fanfic that even comes close to that.

    2. The entire DoM battle from Sirius to the Atrium fight.

    3. The graveyard fight in GoF.

    4. The scene with Neville chopping Nagini's head off in DH. For a couple of reasons - just the image of a huge snake head flying through the air; and for the fact that I'd kinda been waiting for Neville to show that part of himself since the second half of OotP.

    5. When Malfoy gets what he deserves in the Myrtle's bathroom. C'mon he so had it coming.

when Remus told Harry he needed to use serious spells, not weaksauce Expelliarmus. A shame Harry was too stubborn...

Truth. Maybe JK got writing tips from Jeconais after GoF....

    1. Harry casting the Cruciatus curse Amycus Carrow - I equated Harry saying "You really shouldn't have done that" to the Hulk saying "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry."

    2. Dumbledore/Snape meeting, when Snape's crying and asks Dumbledore to help him. Anything with Snape blubbering like a little puss, owns.

    3. HP walking to face his death. Some of JK's best writing, that scene.

    4. HP using the Cruciatus curse on Bellatrix - Up to that point, JK had written her as some female giggling Harley Quinn-esque character; anything that shuts her ass up, owns.

    5. "Golden Trio"/Snape/"Marauders in the Shrieking shack - that whole scene with Lupin revealing he was a werewolf was also some of JK's best work IMO

*Bonus*: "Dumbledore is gay." - it wasn't in any of the books, but she wrote it, technically, over the Dumbledore love scene that was supposed to be in the HBP movie. I cracked up when I read that; I doubt anyone here was surprised when she revealed that.

I think it's the one where Molly gives Fred a bare-bottom spanking with her broomstick.

In the order that I just thought of them:

    1. The Basilisk Fight and Fawkes rescuing Harry. That was a brush with death I'd sooner associate with Harry Dresden.

    2. From the moment Harry and Cedric touch the cup to the end of GoF- we've squeed this one to death for a reason.

    3. Dumbledore versus Voldemort in the Atrium. You all know why.

    4. Harry pwns over 100 Dementors. If we look at how fast Harry's power grows over the first three books, he was capable of Apparating without splinching himself by age eight, and a mega-Patronus five years after that? Harry should have been a shoo-in for the Triwizard Tournament without Crouch's interference.

    5. Thankssss, amigo. That was just cool.

That was a really good scene, I agree, but I liked the one where Dumbledore and Harry came out of the closet more :/

A lot of people will argue Harry didn't apparate. I like to think he did, proving he has some magical pfff.

Nah. My favourite was the Hermione/Luna/Daphne sex scene.;)

    In chronological order...

    1. Fawkes healing Harry as the Basilisk venom courses through his veins.

    2. Harry's successful Patronus in PoA--even though it's hardly realistic for Prongs to be his Patronus.

    3. The graveyard scene, starting with "Kill the spare!" and continuing right up until the brother wands connected. Also, Dumbledore making him tell the entire story in his office after his return and rescue from Crouch, Jr.

    4. Harry using the Cruciatus on Bellatrix.

    5. Dumbledore vs. Voldemort.

    6. Snape destroying Harry after murdering Dumbledore.

    I like so many but

    1.Dumbledore vs. Voldemort

2.Neville finally doing something useful destroying the horcrux.

    3. Resurrection at the graveyard.

4.Dobby saving everyones lives in book DH

5.When they first meet Luna(I gotta add Luna in here somewhere)

Is it just me or did we only get to see one good duel the entire series? (see #1) And when did Molly become such a badass dueller?

PapaMidNite, as I remember the aerial fight at the start of DH was pretty cool. So I guess that brings it up to a total of 2 cool dueling scenes... lol.

Yeah I have to say the aerial fight in DH was very enjoyable, really the only part of the book I enjoyed. Hopefully the movies do that scene justice.

    1. DoM scene from arriving at London till the end of the possession scene. (OotP)
    2. Third Task start till end of Voldemort's Rebirth. (GoF)
    3. Shrieking Shack scene till Harry casting Patronus the first time. (PoA)
    4. Harry accepting his death. (DH - One of the few moments I truly enjoyed)
    5. Godric's Hollow, start to finish. (DH - Second of the few moments I truly enjoyed. Was hoping and praying that Harry and Hermione would get together there since Ron was being a prick, as always. Alas, no success, but still a good scene)

Am I the only one who liked the line "NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU BITCH"? When I read that I imagined the entire fight crashing to a stop, and Ron saying "Did Mum just curse?". Improbable duel aside, that was hilarious.
