Right, right, okay, I got a peeve Severus as Harry's dad.

 

Fortunately I've never been stupid enough to read one of those.

 

Sadly, I got halfway through one shortly after starting to read fanfiction.

Anyways, here are a couple of mine:

1. Harry and Muggle allies using guns: It doesn't matter whether they are better than magic or not, they simply take away from the charm of magic. I simply don't want to read about plain old guns when there's magic.

2. Harry using swords exclusively: Pretty much the same reason as guns, but on a stone age extreme.

3. Japanese/Anime elements: They don't seem to fit in with HP very well, although there are exceptions.

4. Any specific idea/plot that's been done more than 1 or 2 times: Many stargate crossovers, for example, have basically the same plot. And it gets boring after awhile.

5. Any fic that reads like a rewrite in the author's own words of the Harry Potter series.

6. Shitty crossovers.

7. Slash.

 

Any story where Harry starts playing music. Honestly, why would Harry start playing music when he has to kill Voldemort.

Any story which starts adding science into everything, this annoys me because it nearly always has him going out with Hermione and/or Harry is the smartest
person on Earth.

 

Peeve:
Stories in which Molly Weasley is a screaming termagant. Through the first three books, she was fierce, but NOT insane. Some stories have her repeatedly screeching all the way through Order meetings.
Stories in which Ron gets so wound up, he faints.

 

Agreed except for the Ron part, I have never seen that lol, sounds pretty funny though =)

I agree with whoever said it before, But I hate Harry James Potter as a character. He's just a dam shitty character and barely anyone is able to make him into there own where he's good.

Yes we all hate canon Harry, thats why we turned to fanfiction. Here we can add some balls, a dick he can use, as well as some brain function then BAM, Harry's cool again.

 

That is true, but then the fangirls found it, and realized it would a good place to share their fantasies, their existence is a peeve in itself.

 

I don't like it when Harry instantly becomes super rich, smart, good looking and all knowing. Even things he never could have learned before. Suddenly he starts teaching Moody to duel, Ron to play chess, etc. But I'm sure this has been mentioned before.

Also, how about this, he pulls out some extremely expensive flashy family treasures from his bottomless vaults and gives them to his girl (whoever that is in that fic). Then they go to some fancy party and everyone ogles at her. I just have trouble believing a 14 year old teenage girl would look anything but ridiculous wearing tons of fancy jewelry.

 

One peeve of mine that annoys the shit out of me is when Sirius dies he has a huge big uber will reading and he gives the Weasley's, Hermione and Harry a bunch of money. Why the fuck would Sirius give the Weasley's and Hermione money, they weren't his friends they were Harry's friend's.

 

One thing that has been annoying me lately is "de-aging" fics, where Harry somehow turns into a "cute" little baby. Either the baby isn't cute at all and would be a great way to teach birth control to teens, or the baby is so overly cute that if I wanted that much sugar in my diet I would eat a cupcake, or read a fluff fic.

 

Yea I don't get that either, very rarely in real life does any person leave (Friends) money in their will. It always goes to family only.

So what?I wouldn't leave my best friend money let alone just friends. All my money would go to my family only. Besides in the book Sirius shows much animosity toward Molly Weasley for babying Harry, so people using Sirius will in fan-fiction to give them money is totally gay.

 

They weren't in the first one. Moody shows him a photo of the First Order and they're conspicuously absent.

Another peeve of mine: Harry naming his kids James and/or Lily.
