I wonder if Maeve wanted a child from Harry because a half-fae wouldn't expend as much of their magic traversing between the Nevernever and Earth, having their own earthly flesh and blood and would, therefore, be a lot more powerful without having the need to create a physical manifestation for themselves.

So the girls name is Amaris? Why that name I wonder? According to google it means promised by god or given by god in Hebrew. And also child of the moon in Spanish. Nice picture anyway.

I was thinking that too, even if she is a bit mature. I like Denarion Knight because Harry is just plain bad-ass, and you can't be bad-ass mothering over a child. Then again...Shezz hasn't led us wrong yet, or at least me.

Ahh this is getting better all the time!

I found it quite funny when Meciel slapped Harry with his own hand. Though you might want to add some reaction from Meciel when Harry swears later in the story. Not necessarily another slap but something. It felt a bit off that Meciel reacted so strongly in the beginning of this part but not at all at the end.

I also liked the reaction from Meciel. It adds to her character that she cares so much about children. It is a sort of "redeeming" quality that makes her far more complex in my view. Maybe she can give Harry some hints on childraising. She did raise Harry afterall.

Who exactly is Fawkes that her views would take precedence over Maeve who is one of the queens? Or did you mean that Dumbledore would defer to her in this matter and use the wards to force her wishes upon Maeve? That part confused me a little. Even if Fawkes is a high-ranking sidhe she is not as high in the courts as the queens. Unless you have something unexpected planned, maybe you should clarify that Maeve submitted to this because of Dumbledore and not because Fawkes outranks her.

Does Dumbledore really speak Hebrew? He is not religious and I do not see what connection that language would have to the wizarding world. What possible reason would Dumbledore have had to learn it? I wonder if it might have been better to have Meciel translate her name instead of Dumbledore. We could have seen her reaction to the name that way too. She hates god far more than Harry afterall.

So Amaris will stay with Harry. I bet this is going to be fun. I liked it that you showed some emotion from her with the lips twitching thing. I don't think someone that young should be so emotionless in truth. Even if she is a changeling. But it is amusing that she seems to like pretending to be so creepy. I am really looking forward to the reactions of people like Malfoy, Mcgonagall, Umbridge and especially Amanda when Harry suddenly turns up with a daughter in tow. Oh! and SNAPE! Another "Potter" should really make his day!

I kinda hope that Harry will grow fond of and bond with Amaris and vice versa. She is his daughter afterall and not growing to care about her at all would make Harry look a little contemptible. It certainly looks like Maeve cares less about her as a person and more as a tool given the whole "valuable" and "unbroken" thing. Might make her grow closer with Harry than Maeve in time even.

How will Harry find accomodations for Amaris? I thought Harry was bunking with the other students in the male dormitory(or whatever). Surely Dumbledore does not expect Harry to have Amaris stay with him there? Or do I remember wrong? Either way, I would have expected Dumbledore to give a separate room to Harry and Amaris to live in, the way he did to Harry in Renegade. That would have made more sense to me. I mean Harry is not a member of the Hogwarts staff so he can hardly just usurp a random room for Amaris to live in?

Oh and I for one don't see it as a disaster for Harry to raise Amaris like some of the other comments suggest. Why would it make him any less "bad-ass"? Even if she knows know some magic, she is hardly going to start killing death eaters left and right(I hope).

In any case this was an awesome chapter! Hope to see the rest of it soon. Like I said above, reading about Hogwarts reactions to Amaris should be brilliant!

Is the promise he made to Fawkes considered a Fae promise despite not being thrice bound? He seemed rather serious about it and things could get interesting if he's bound by oath to devour a rather powerful Summer Fae.

 

Harry is badass yes. Even if he gets weighed down by a child, he'll still be a badass.

It has potential for complete awesome. And plus, it's temporary.

This was necessary though, as Harry was about to leave Dumbledore's side after OWLs anyway. This is Shezza's way of forcing Harry to stay on the light side for a little longer.

Plus, now that Harry's got a daughter, there's a lot of potential for a sappy ending for you Meciel/Harry fans :/. There's no way Harry's going to hook up with Amanda now – he's got way too much baggage for a relationship with a peer.

 

Yeah, he's one of the most powerful wizards in the world, but as things go in the Dresden universe, there are many things much more powerful than wizards.

This story needs to be taken to another level, and I think that means true resolution (Unless there's another sequel to this)

Meciel and The Holy Sword need to live in harmony of some sort eventually. Maybe Meciel is redeemed into a Guardian Angel? Or else a choice must be made, or something....

Either way, I think if Harry gives up the sword (after getting it last fic) it'd be a big cop out.

Meciel also needs to be consistent with Harry re/ Amaris.

 

Yes! Introducing Amaris to the main story is a good idea. The story was feeling a little stagnant. Change is good.

If Amaris isn't sleeping in Harry's bed then it won't be any trouble to kick one of the other boys out of their bunk. I get the feeling he might not want to put up with Amaris so closely (annoying bratty kids), in which case he might off load her sleeping arrangements to Amanda to take care of. I wonder what Meciel will think of that. Actually, I wonder what Meciel wants to get out of this situation, and what she wants her host to get out of it too.

Now I'm really curious as to who Fawkes is in the Summer Court. If Dumbledore chose Fawkes over Maeve when he made his deal for power then Fawkes must be impressively powerful. Perhaps even within the same ballpark as the Winter Lady (or not too far from it).

I'm sure somewhere earlier in the story it said that Fawkes was the Summer equivalent to Maeve. Maeve's comment "You should have chosen me" backs this up further. It appears that some time in the past Dumbledore had a choice between Meave and Fawkes and chose Fawkes.

Dumbledore is a very educated man. I would not be surprised if he knew many of the classical languages such as Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic and so on. In addition to being able to read ancient manuscripts and the like, there may be spells in those languages.

 

True... Well, there's only one way to find out. Ok, two. Ask Shezza or wait till he clarifies it in the story.
P.S. We could ask his hamster about it too. I'm sure the beast knows all of Shezza's dirty secrets.

Imagine the look on Maeve's face if Amaris decided to embrace her human side rather than become the new Winter Lady. That would irreparably damage ties between Winter (especially Maeve) and Harry, and clear the air for the final conflict between the coin and the sword.
