I've been flying solo for a few days and it is pretty fun. Haven't been attacked yet, but I have a ton of messages I'm ignoring. I'm going to join.

 

If you trade right, it doesn't matter what your beginning resources are, I started out with Lead and gold, and I've currently got the following Bonus resources through careful trading

Steel
Automobiles
Beer
construction
Microchips
Radiation Cleanup
Asphalt

see? 7 bonus's without having any of the recommended resources. granted I had to pay a bit more upfront bonus for trading, but I just offered enough that they were willing to make it a long term trade ^.^

I'd estimate that I have to replace a trading partner once every two months or so on average though...
